I have spent a lot of hours with Steve on different rivers up there and he is always super fun to fish with. I’ve personally got my biggest steelhead and walleye with Steve. Not just a good guide but a good guy to just hang with. If you are up that way and looking for a guide he is the man for sure.
Jacks are also very important for genetic diversity. Coho adults are 3 years old, but coho jacks are 2 years old. Without jacks, there would be little to no gene flow between different cohorts of coho. They’d be reproductively isolated by run year and less genetically diverse as a consequence
@AnglerWestTV that's what I was thinking! I thought you may have did something similar once wasn't sure. I think I have watched every episode to present since before RUclips had came out and have several of them recorded to vhs somewhere lol
Drawback of the quick release flashers is that if you get hit, but don't hook up, you might pop that release and have to reel in and reset, vs. continuing fishing and letting that fish (or one of its buddies) have another shot at it.
I won't have a booth. I will be there with Clackacraft. It's not that they screwed me. They had incredible difficulty with basic business relations with a majority of their customers. As I understand it, there is new management so hopefully the show can be back to what it once was.
Hello , is there anyway you could do a video on how to know how much line to let out while trolling with lead to get the depth where the fishfinder is showing the salmon to be? Like if the fishfinder is showing fish at 20ft and your trolling 2.1 with 65 braided line and 20oz lead how much would you let out? Im not good with math and this all is very confusing to me lol. Thank you for any help!!
question for my friends I mostly fish the alsea or siletz or S. Santiam. have travelled like fishing tillamook tidewater narrow and so many rivers connect there. Finally bought a boat but the honey hole was locked . So i Need to find other access fished there a lot on the bank . I am gonna guess boat launching access is at the bay. my local rivers are swarmed and after 15 yrs I just would rather go home we always forget to bring anything besides Glocks with #1.25 or so for hornady critical defense always try to keep at least for defense to expensive to practice +p hornady critical defense ain't cheap. So me and my dad meant to keep a couple box's of blazer but we everytime we fish the alsea if an unproductive day of fishing because the public shooting range is on marys peak only place in the world I do not get allergies and is the best calming meditative. and if i walkn about 75yrds uphill none goes there and you can see corvallis albany on the top and can see the whole alsea valley super pretty. eith eitherway way sidearms are of the biggest priority then hunting rifles and shotguns. and our AR 15's

I'm from California and have fished with Steve on a few occasions and it is always a great time. He is a great guide!!
The videos are so helpful. I am learning so much watching your videos. Thank you
That's great. Thanks for the feedback.
What an insightful comment around the 7 minute mark about “why are there Jacks?” Great takeaway - and another great vid from Angler West

Nice job.
14 1/2 minutes into the video and suddenly Scott is in the boat? Was he sleeping? Nice fish, Scott!
