Quick update on this initiative. Starting with LXD 5.14, the LXD UI is now available as an experimental feature in both our `stable` and `edge` snaps. To enable it, you now must now do: - snap set lxd ui.enable=true - snap restart --reload lxd
I am still dazed by this. Totally AWESOME. Stéphane - an unusual non-technical request - In your next video (#presumptuous-of-me), please include a photo (and names where they agree) of the entire LXD dev team - I for one would like to at least SEE the magnificent people you are privileged to lead that help you create and support this fantastic software! I hope one day to say Hi in person, but interim, a photo will do just fine for now!! #brilliant #lxd
It's just INCREDIBLE! This is great work by your team and I'm sure it will be a very useful and popular tool for LXD management. Until now, I used third-party projects for this, but I will definitely switch to the official one.
If LXD is to have a real future this type of next level tooling is a must. I know some people will deem that wrong, but IMHO its a truth. LXD needs a 'portainer' or similar tooling, they (all tech) do.
*Could you please tell me how to change the path where containers and virtual machines are created? I have another disk and I want all containers and virtual machines to be on it.*
Great work on this! I only have a couple of questions: 1. How would it work with clusters - specifically will each node have a separate UI? 2. Is it running in a container or built into the LXD daemon itself? 3. Is a dark mode planned? :D
Hello, I don't know if possible, please share docs and learning material that can help. Using LXD on bare metal to install as ISO and then spinning up various Linux systems
Do you think that enviroment could be used to multiple GPU passthough to one VM meaning up to 4 gpus per single VM with graphics coming back to the UI? or maybe 2 vms with 2 gpus each?
Hi, qq, when i try to connect to the web interface of my local LXD system, all i got was this message in the web browser (Brave, tried chrome and edge also ) "{"type":"sync","status":"Success","status_code":200,"operation":"","error_code":0,"error":"","metadata":["/1.0"]}" anything u can point me to fix this?
Major drawbacks: - No current operation window, if there are 10 VMs spinning up, how to track? Or even more important, how to cancel the operation? - No Dark Interface
I got dark interface by changing chrome://settings Dark Theme but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. Agree on vm launch management options (have to use terminal if you want to cancel), but you do see container/vm creation live in the GUI. For an initial edge release this is still Brilliant!
@@andrewwilson7169 i'm using dark mod plugins as well, but there is a difference with the "intended" and converted mode (plugin is a kinda despair, last resort. I really cant bear full white screen). Anyways, great project and i'm exited that these major points are in the consideration.
We have added OIDC support to LXD 5.13 and have since merged support for the LXD UI to make use of that too. This just does Authentication, not Authorization though. For Authorization, we're currently developing a specification and will have work on it this cycle. We're currently investigating OpenFGA for that.

great project and LXD become complete self-hosted cloud solution, I'm interested on LXD UI and thank you for mention it in one of LXD Livestreams

I love these videos showing off the cool new functions added to LXD.
UI is nice and clean, love it!

I love LXD but I've never learnt the commands by heart. This beautiful UI will totally eliminate the learning curve for me. Keep the good work going!
wow! Excellent!
awesome solution and team.

Is there a way to manage multiple nodes from a single UI/panel?or any plans for cluster support? @@lxd_designers
Great to see this progressing!
wow this is beautiful. I will definitely give it a try!
Excellent news!!!
Love it!
It was a quick help, thanks!
Bravo!
Brilliant!!... but it definitely needs a dark theme 😉
This is awesome !
YESSSSSS!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

WOW good work.
Hope there'll be a possibility to create a vm from an iso image.
Really liked the console demo for Ubuntu desktop version in the browser...
This is planned but we need to add first class support for ISO images in LXD itself before the UI can really make use of it.

Amazing 🎉🎉
Thank you!!!

🤯
Can a Systems Container have a CMS,database and a bunch of Redis Clusters inside the same container?
Sure, pretty much anything you can do on a normal server or VM you can do in a system container.
plz add support to assign static ip address to container + vm. Thanks, AWESOME!
How can I enable authentication ? user, password...
Please add more user profile (role like admin simple user) and for simple user must see only allowed images Vm or containers

This is a beautiful web UI! Great to see this under construction! 🏗🚧
This is really interesting
Wonderful!!
