Here are my tips: - Always hydrate - it is ALWAYS hot and humid and you can easily get heat stroke if you're not careful. - Wear light clothing and avoid black clothes. Black clothing absorbs the heat and you get hot quicker. - Don't come down without a car (with AC) - either rented or your own - you pretty much need a car to get anywhere and it will keep you cool when not inside. - If you're going swimming, wear sunscreen. The sun can burn you even if the sky is overcast or if you're in/under the water, and water magnifies the rays. - Most locals don't get sunburned because they don't stay in the sun for long. The people who normally complain about getting burned are usually pasty northerners who are unaccustomed to the FL sun. If you're pasty and easily burned, bring sun screen. - Make sure the place you're staying has functioning AC (99% usually do), you can't live in FL without AC; and don't expect the temperature to drop in the night, it doesn't. - Don't leave out food anywhere, bugs are easily attracted. - Don't rent a room at a beach like Daytona or Palm Beach, those places are tourist traps and EVERYTHING will be several times more expensive than normal - they are counting on taking as much money from ignorant bumbling out-of-staters as possible. Instead, rent a room somewhere like Orlando, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, or DeLand - but NOT downtown or and tourist areas - then drive to the location you want to visit from there. - Always have a gps. Either or your phone or dedicated unit. - Try to avoid driving on the highway during rush hour. There are crazy idiot drivers who will ride in the turning lane for about a mile then try to cut in front of you at the last moment. - Be prepared for someone to turn in front of you without using a turn signal or keep going straight with their turn signal on - don't assume someone is turning unless you see them slow down. - Universal Studios and Island of Adventure theme parks usually have more exciting rides suited for adults, Disney World is more for kids and doesn't have as many exciting rides and coasters. - If you want to go clubbing, downtown Orlando - E. Orange Ave - has a decent selection of different types of clubs. - If you want to go surfing you can rent a surfboard at the world famous Ron Jon's surf shop at Daytona Beach - make sure you're a good swimmer because the current cam easily pull you out to sea. - If you want to go to a beach that's not as populated as Daytona, you can visit New Smyrna Beach. There is no driving on the beach, and it usually has some decent small waves for bodyboarding (be careful, there are coral reefs and the waves can drag you over them and cut you up if you're not careful; if you go bodyboarding, consider wearing a shirt or wetsuit to help protect your skin)
Thanks for that! I've never been to The States 😱 but planning to arrive in Florida with my motorcycle next March. Searching around on the internet for info it's good to find a channel which isn't run by a travel company or tourist information 👍🏼

Aloha Jeff , My 10 yr. old daughter and I have been following your videos for a couple of years and actually purchased a land parcel on the big island last march before you moved from Kona to maui . I haven't been there to survey it etc. yet because of pandemic and work schedule conflicts but I am wondering how you would compare it to Florida which is my home state . I currently live in Sebring but grew up in Miami / ft. Lauderdale area and now central Florida is my home turf . Welcome to Florida , Super Bowl tomorrow , GO BUCS ! and we look forward to watching more of your videos . : )
I'm actually on the hilo side where the land is more affordable , thanks for the tip from one of your videos . PanamaFlorida on your travels , its suppose to be a real hot spot and nice beach on the gulf of Mexico . Also the college town of Gainesville and Leesburg might be worth checking out ! @@IslandHopperTV
The one thing that stood out to me that was bad, and mind you overall I really liked Florida, would go back ..but the Orlando and Miami airports....are total garbage.
