hahah. i was just gonna say this one took me a while. i literally had to come back for it. just move on and come back if you have trouble. i was having trouble on elden beast, and i hadn't beaten malenia, leveled my weapons all the way, or gotten a good build put together. after i beat melania i came back and one shotted elden beast like it was nothing
The poison mist would be fine if you could SEE it, which is a complaint I have in general with the AOE attacks in this game. It's usually really hard to tell where exactly they're going to hit.
@@aperson9847 Eh, no. The visibilty is generally good. I have had that complaint about Bloodborne where every circular AoE is like a meter larger than it is on screen. But when I get hit by an AoE in Elden Ring I usually see it connect as well.
Melania might be the hardest boss, but the Gargoyle Duo was definitely the most infuriating boss for me. It felt like I was bashing my head against a wall over and over 😭

I remember the first time these two used me for toilet paper. I was on my last flask, was few hits from killing the first gargoyle when I seen his buddy emerge from the waterfall.. I jus sat my controller down and muttered to my self "from software you bastards"
This was the hardest boss for me in the game. It took me around 20 tries to beat them. I literally went through 3 training arcs (farming runes) to beat them 😭
Ironically for me it was the easiest fight, the Gargoyle of Caelid so far was the only one in the game that killed me, especially this one killed me about 12 times before ending, but I didn't face all of them yet.
Grabs are enabled but even so there’s a size limit that can’t be bypassed. You’re never going to see a grab work on enemies that are more than two sizes (sorta) larger than the player. Non-humanoid enemies are also often immune but there are exceptions (like Runebears being grab-able).
That Hoarah Loux segment has the music ending at a perfect time when he finished off the last gargoyle. Seeing my personal best boss just obliterating my personal worst boss is just cathartic, especially at 20:45 . A crown is warranted with strength
The damage gets kinda inflated here because the poison field itself does a very rapid tick of physical damage that quickly ramps up (especially since two or more fields stack on top of each other).
Poison from gargoyles only does a lot of damage because the poison trail itself does damage, if it was just the status it probably wouldn't make almost any difference

@@viralhush5536 Radahn and Morgott are mid-game bosses, and their in-game stats are initially inferior to late-game bosses. Increasing their stats only evens them out against later bosses with higher scaling. But raising stats of someone who is already the final boss is pretty boring.

There's just such a monstrous stats disparity between early and late game bosses. I'd love to see a spin-off of these videos where every fight (or ever few fights) the test subject leveled up. It would make the late fights a lot less of a forgone conclusion.

I think a pretty good measuring stick for determining if a boss is tough is: can they leave a dent in Malenia's health bar? Or will she be at full at the end of the fight? And these guys did really well on that lol

And even for the Elden Beast it is just bad luck. The Beast has a wide variety of ranged attacks and evasive maneuvers and they are more or less randomized. The AI decided to not use them in this fight. In the vs. crystalian army fight one can see what happens when the Elden Beast goes all evasion+ranged against a slow enemy that is not good at dodging. (One sided massacre.)
now that i think about it, a fun mod would be one that makes you like a boss. you get an extra digit for your hp (i.e 25 vigor is 800hp and the mod would make it 8000) but dont get i frames when you dodge.

I’m been getting gaslit every time I talk about these freaking things. Every player I talk to online always tells me “ how could you possibly have this much trouble with this boss?” And “that boss was super easy.” I feel vindicated knowing that these two fucks beat almost every boss in this game.
I'm glad the Gargoyles made a return once again in Elden Ring, however I feel like the Poison mist that not only does Poison DMG, but also stupid amounts of death-I mean "Poison DMG" just takes away from the DUO fight...I get they wanted to make them different then the Gargoyles you see/fight in the open-world areas but idk really? Just a bit stupid to be honest. And it's not me being salty, I legitimately feel it takes away from the fight.

The AI of Duo fights generally has only one being aggressive at a time. So if you keep constant distant you can safetly 1v1 each dude. You just have to be aware when they “tag in” their partner. The AI switches the aggressor and the passive and if you are attacking the passive one you find yourself in that sandwich.

The worst thing about this boss is the random poison mist attack they have. No other gargoyle in the game could do that.

My favorite thing about these gargoyle fights is their ability to dodge. They run/fly around so much that they end up avoiding like 40% of attacks
yeah their ai seems to be pretty much set to do combo then retreat to use long range attack while alternating with the other one.
