Being a Bengali (and having heritage from East Bengal before Division), Shutki Maach is one of my most favorite foods. In childhood, I used to wait eagerly when my mother would make Shutki Mach. It was the greatest delightful home made treat. That was the foundation of eating spicy food in my life, I believe. But when Bhut Jholokia entered my life, it changed my perception of spiciness. There is shop in Delhi/Gurgaon called Monty's Wings who sells only chicken wings. They a have special bhut jholokia version - 8 chicken wings cooked covered in the spiciest chili paste/sauce of India. My friend stopped eating just after 2 pieces and I devoured the 6 wings. OMG! what a experience that was. Orgasmic Pleasure in the form of Demonic pain - that would be the accurate description. I drank 5 cans of beer to save myself from the spice satan, it did neutralize the effect on my tongue after few hours but neither I became drunk nor my inner burning stopped. Even after 1.5 days, when I went to pee, it was burning. Suddenly, after that my spice handling quotient increased manifold - and that's really awesome.
