How Do I Drive a Powerful Beast with a Wagging Tail on a Slippery Road? | YS Khong Driving

- A modified car, with 280 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, a very loose tail on a wet and slippery mountain road is not a formula for spirited driving. This is what we discovered when we took this beast up the mountain.
Later on, we got the car checked, and found that the alignment was way out of line. Every time you accelerated, it was like dragging the tyres diagonally across the road - it's been fixed, and we promise to come back!
I'm a weekly genting climber on a sbk, each bend hv it own character..the way uncle tackle it..hrrmm♥it..how not to love uncle knowledgeable commentary & superb driving..tq uncle💪
When uncle tells u “I need a harder suspension. I need harder!” ...u better listen and buckle up😂
Thanks uncle. Would love to see a part 2 after the alignment issues have been resolved.
Coming.
uncle kong you’re the greatest youtuber on this planet !
Thanks uncle khong for the clear explanation about the throttle and steering position during wet
that turbo sound is 🔥
damn, i can hear the turbo blow off valve
Awesome drive uncle.. 👍
I was driving in Turkey on a narrow mountain 2 lane (1 lane on each side) road with hairpin turns in a current Gen Merc C200d in the dry; but the road surface material looked kinda slick (relatively freshly paved or worn down perhaps ) and I kept sliding the back end out like Uncle Khong here. I couldn’t figure out why the back get sliding out, esp in decreasing radius turns / sharp turns despite going
I’d like to add, I also had Sport+ mode activated and only thought of turning it off later while I was on the highway but was unable to prove / determine if that may have made the car more ‘frisky’. Now having watched this video, I’m sure that contributed to it (less active traction control perhaps) but it goes to show the mechanics of rear wheel drive makes it particularly susceptible to road conditions.
Great vid as usual. Thanks Boss.
diagnosing the car while driving, a true pro
Ur my idol uncle!!!
All those turbo noises tho 🔥
10:17 had a bit of fun there hahaha
Yes, it was quite a huge tail slide.
Hope uncle can test run Tesla model 3🙂
The owner looks worried 🤣🤣 anyway, that engine roars!
That wasn't the owner, hahaha.
The road is quite slippery, nice challenge YS wiggling the rear end
How fast were you driving when the tail first slipped out, Uncle YS?
You Rock! Uncle.
Early sat morning, I crashed my fwd car. V wet corner. Doing bout 70kmh.
Should’ve watched this before I did that...
Aiya, so sorry to hear that. Hope you and every one in the car are safe.
YS Khong Driving ; only me in car. I don’t carry anybody when I’m going for hot laps ;p
Thnx for yr concern tho.
Needs alot of skills to drive this beast
Despite the slow drive, it was fantastic.
Thank you - it was scary, yet thrilling. Never had a car that was so twitchy before.
@@YSKhongDriving yeah, could view it from the video. You were extra careful.
I don't think he was driving slow at all. The roads was very slippery. He was at the limit of whatever grip is available.
@@jamsbong it reflects a skilful driver behind the wheels.

Uncle, i am thinking to buy a used f30. Currently torn between going for 330i or 330e? This will be daily driver and I d love to have some fun with it sometimes. Like the 330e but concern about the modular battery issue which is costly to repair. Can you suggest which model is a better one in term of reliability?
330i anytime!
@@YSKhongDriving thank you uncle. 330i it is!
uncle why got gopro on meter but no view of the meter being shown? :(((
Hahaha, we were going too slow. It was meant for the tachometer. But the road was wet, so we did not get what we wanted to see.
Any chance uncle khong can review satria neo? Perhaps also bring it uphill?
Hard to get these cars.
@@YSKhongDriving i have one but i live too far away😭 im in Kedah
Yes, that's a bit far. I had one too but it's been sold a long time ago.
@@YSKhongDriving any secret recipe for alignment ah? Hehe
(Mine is cps so it understeers)
Currently running 195/55/r15 and stock suspension. Would appreciate if you can provide some help... Been struggling with alignment for 2 years already still feel like i left something on the table...
Waa very rare to see people drive Silver color for BMW, still looks really good 😍😍
See? I told you, Leroy! That colour! Hahaha.
Silver looks pretty good on the F30 actually, totally underrated
@@YSKhongDriving yes sifu
How the dude is driving his car without noticing his balancing.
It wasn't the balancing. In the dry it is not so apparent.
Hi Uncle, nice drive as usual. Just wondering if not revving to max rpm but looking it to maybe 60/70% and using a higher gear to achieve similar speeds will help with the slipping and skidding?
Yes, in the later parts we used Sport instead of Sport+ and it was slightly better. The car was not made to go straight due to poor alignment.
uncle can you give your own opinion based on your experience of owning a volkswagen golf,in terms of the maintenance of the car is it easier to come across factory issues such as transmission or the gearbox.Because,I hear a lot of bad reviews regarding the issues of owning a volkswagen particularly Golf.Because in terms of power of the car itself is superb but I'm just curious of the sustainability of the car I hope you could make a video about it.Because most car enthusiasts comment that volkswagen cars tend to have common problems.
Hi, Naim, all cars need maintenance. In my immediate family, there are, 2 Polo, 2 Jetta, and 2 Golf, one of which is a Golf R. We enjoy the cars every day without fear.
@@YSKhongDriving wow uncle your whole family vw ah? That must say something haha
whats with that rumble...sounds like piston knock.like a bad boxer rumble..and its really very loud.sounds like a videogame sadly
Turbo wastegate and blow-off?
@@YSKhongDriving not those. It's the engine. Doesn't sound smooth n sounds synthetic.

Uncle you should not have went sport plus as it will deactivate the traction control by 50%. If you was in sport you might have got better traction. Also any idea what exhaust is that car using? Sounds good.
We tried both. Yes, you are correct about the TC. Exhaust was done by owner, I dont know the brand.
blow off. . Love it
I really need that knee rest 😂😂😂
Yup, that is a good piece of cushioning. Leroy might want to sell it on our channel, hahaha.

Comeback on a dry road..
Coming
Hi Uncle, my car seems to have a certain issue where when it reach around 130km/h to 160km/h the steering tend to get pulled to the left and right as if it's experiencing a wheelspin. The car is 6 months old and the tires are at the same age with plenty of tread left (probably only used up about 5% of the 280 treadwear).
Based on your driving and discussion in this video; could it be due to the car having too neutral of a toe?
There are some discussion that pointed to the uneven torque steer on FF cars but I highly doubt that could be the issue. Will better tires / adding toe in fix this issue?
(The car used to sit much lower with more negative camber, problem was not prominent back then but upon raising the ride height; issue was more common).
Will really appreciate it if you could provide some input or thoughts on this. Thanks!
Hi, Meir, what car is it? If you can, put the car on an alignment machine, and send me a pic of the alignment screen with the readings. Make sure the shop is a reputable one.
Offhand ,I suspect you are having positive camber,( since you have raised the height, and also if yours is a FF, then it is possible you have toe in for the front.
@@YSKhongDriving It's the 2019 Myvi fitted with adjustable coilovers. I have raised it an extra "one finger" on the front and rear but the suspension shop insisted I will not need an alignment so soon. Guess I should still have it realigned then.
Hi Meir, perhaps you can join our Telegram group and we will try to help you. Here is the link:- t.me/joinchat/Pdt8mRMb4FhH7evXd6U4UA
f30 cannot.....
Bad tuning
No like fake engine sound.
It's not fake.
This car is too loud and kind of rough.
My older BMW sounds way nicer is a sweet creamy tune of the inline-6.
because it probably has the M package
@Aoru the car has a 4 cylinder. They are rough especially high powered ones. 6 cylinders are much smoother
What??? Uhh no. 4 cyclinders can be just as smooth. But if you didn't notice, BMW uses a turbo...4 cylinder turbos are the way to go in 2020 and forward. How many 4 cyclinder turbos have you even driven to even say its not smooth?
Aoru well I own both a 4 cyl and a 6 cyl car.
@@jamsbong Is it a 4 cycl turbo? If not then no. Btw V6's are a thing of the past. Due to newer and tighter emission controls no matter where you go, v6s or inline 6's are being replaced everywhere with smaller turbo charged 2.0 - 2.5L engines, some are even smaller like Honda's that only uses 1.5L T.
