Spot on! Vesuvius definitely had a different, taller profile before the 79 AD eruption. It's a great challenge because AI still has its limitations and often relies on current geographical data, making it tricky to recreate such ancient landscapes perfectly. However, I’m working on training it better to get those historical details right. Thanks for the feedback!

Actually, statues were painted in realistic colors back then so they should be recreated as colorful. Though I note AI had one of them working on construction, apparently, while on its pedestal. Otherwise (notwithstanding the fellow that walked on water in the house fountain) it's fun to see the streets somewhat as they might have looked.

This is really cool. Nice job reconstructing Pompei. My maternal uncle got a rare paternal DNA match with the guy who was wearing the golden bracelet at the House of the Golden Bracelet. If he was the owner, wearing the super massive gold bracelet, then his name was supposedly Marcus Fabius Rufus. I don't know this man, but I feel like I have a greater connection to him knowing we are somehow related. I would love to see one of these for the city of Knossos. That would cool. Very nice work making this ancient city come to life!

I read or heard in a documentary that the red color of the walls ("vivid red" 9:50) was actually created by the heat waves during the eruption process. The original color painted on the walls is believed to be a type of ochre yellow.
The black color though is believed to be painted on the walls of rooms where open fire was used for heating and where the smoke otherwise would have damaged pricy lighter wall paints. An example for the black walls, I think, is the one with the famous "pizza" painting discovered in recent years.

Vesuvius was much bigger before 79. Today he has a height from about 1000 m. Before the big eruption he has had a height from about 2000 m, and he hasn't had a krater.

Upwards of 20,000 to 30000 people lived in Pompeii. Most fled during the initial stages of the eruption. Upwards of 2000 were found in the ruins. So, most of the population survived.

Finally a channel not afraid to credit AI. This is the way it should be. People accepting of ai welcome this content. People hostile to ai can know to avoid. Trying to trick the latter would only enrage users and get them to block the thieves' channel and probably reported (whatever good that'll do).
