One of the best radios ever made! I've had several., at least three FT-101 stations since the "80's, the last I sold in 2019, all great, fun to operate and they all sounded good on the air. In my book, still should be Yaesu's pride and joy...!
I had one in the 80's from new for eight years. A great radio and nice to see one again, I fitted the 250 Hz c.w. filter which was excellent, aerial was a long wire and a.t.u. 10m was great in the 80's and I was turning the 101E right down on c.w. and still getting into the U.S.A. and normally using about 25 Watts or less s.s.b. Worked 4 novice stations one day on c.w., a bit of a drag for me about 5 w.p.m. for two hours, and more calling me after. I got QSL cards and they said how pleased they were for their first G station, too many ignore their slow c.w. Encourage them by working them! I decided to go QRP so sold the 101 and built the G4CLF p.c.b, ssb and cw, 20m and 80m, 4 Watts,, eventually all h.f. bands and now re-building to add 60m band pass filters. G4GHB.
Thanks for the video. Great demonstration. I still have three of those, unfortunately all in a non-working state. I hope to get at least one to a workable state. It's got a rather rare green paint, which i haven't seen anywhre else. Any chance somebody knows something about this green model?
What you say at 3:05.... So only HAM radios transmit with clean signals? And who is "we"? Very interesting statement. So many pretentious HAM operators out there who don't even understand where this hobby came from or what it's about.
Hahahaha oh so super sensitive you crack me up big time man. I started on 27mhz and will never forget where I came from. There are plenty of ham stations out there that transmit with horrible distorted audio as well as CB. You think I don't know that? Still, I'm happy to give the ignorant some direction. 1. My comment around "this is Ham radio" was a generalisation and actually taking a subtle swipe at the state of the hobby today, but you've obviously chosen your own interpretation because clearly you're a fragile individual who reacts instantly. 2. We, is obviously collectively referring to Ham Operators and yes, CB operators as well. 3. Learn some self control, stop and think before passing judgement on others in future.
