What do you guys think Honda should change next on the Super Cub? ...and who likes the new Pearl Gray color over last year's Matte Gray Metallic? 👇 ☆ ERROR: I'm an idiot... I had the CT125 on my mind when talking about the front brakes, the C125 (Super Cub) does NOT have a two-piston caliper like the CT125 but instead, a single-piston setup. I wanted to go back in and correct this but my computer is crashing every time I try to export the corrected video, so we're running with this - before I lose my insanity and throw my laptop through the window lol! ☆ Check out my Amazon store for SPECIALS on everything from Honda apparel to accessories and more: www.Amazon.com/shop/HondaProKevin ☆ DISCOUNT Honda Parts by entering Promo Code "HONDAPROKEVIN" at: Parts.SouthernHonda.com ☆ Want to help support the channel so I can continue creating content? They dont need to make these things more powerful or add a bigger tank or anything fancy. What they need to do is put a normal key on it and lower the cost. This sort of bike is perfect for people that need basic transport and it should be aimed at people that cant afford anything else.
Got a C90 for my seventeenth birthday back in the late 1970's. Wish I still had it: it seemed to run on thin air, and was so much more fun than any car you can name.
I have a 2022 Super Cub. Love the matte black, but also love this year's Pearl Grey. The first things I bought for my Super Cub were a side stand, rear rack, rear seat and rear foot pegs. All OEM. I'd love to have the European gear shifter and lights but not enough to try to get them. Agreed about the gas tank - stupid small. Id like to see a USB charger, self canceling indicators, disk brake in the rear, more comfortable seat. I'd also love to get the new Super Cub 110, but we can't have those here because they're too cool and inexpensive. Can't wait for spring time so I can get back on it!
Nice! A lot of people give the Matte Gray Metallic a bad wrap but I think it's just because it was so different from the "norm" over the years. It's a shame you've got to jump through those hoops and American Honda doesn't offer them as accessories here in the US, if they aren't going to offer them as standard. lol oh yeah, I don't blame you there as those lights alone are not cheap! I like you're thinking on the updates! Haven't seen many mention a USB charger or self-cancelling signals but they'd be a nice creature comfort add-on. Oh yeah, I think the 110 would do well here and especially if they could offer it around the NAVi price point. They'd sell like hot cakes! Won't happen, but hey - we can dream! lol yeah buddy, fingers crossed spring gets here soon as I'm going insane! Ride safe and enjoy that Cub ;)
Yeah, the 2023 Honda Wave 110 is 33.990 pesos in Mexico, $1753.73 at today's exchange rate. You could pick two of the three colors the Wave comes in and have money left over compared to the price of one US Super Cub.
@D R I have 3 old Cubs. 2 are 1981 70cc Honda C70 Passports and I have a 1962 Honda Super Cub C102. Unfortunately the 1962 came to me without the pushrod 50cc engine (the PO tossed it as irreparable) and an uninstalled, brand new, 70cc Lifan engine. So far, I haven't wanted a new Cub enough to even think about buying one but, it could happen in the future.
@D R They came to me hadn't run in decades and had a hard life when they were running. They are far from the 2% of motorcycles, in mint condition that bring the big bucks. I think I paid $600 total for the 3, worth more now since they run and worth the most to somebody that will cut them up into something I would call stupid. I'd kind of like dampening front and back, doubt I'll ever get to telescopic forks or real shocks and other than that, I like them as is.
I saw this in the local bike shop today. I was simply "grabbed" by this; how simply beautiful it is. It's captivating. Simply gorgeous. All bikes should have the perfect attention to detail this has. Hopefully the "all black" look on bikes is on the way out, This screams beauty, simplicity and function
Yeah 160cc engine at 16hp plus larger tank. Lots of folks are interested in the 180cc big bore kit but it requires and comes with a new balanced crankshaft. But yes yes 4 valve too. Also with that extra power passenger seat and tail box. Now you're talking.
Like several million others I learned to ride (or at least how to fall off) on an old C50, I think was a 1968 model? When I was 8 years old in 1973 my dad bought one from his mate for a fiver and for the next 2 years me and my pal spent every weekend and school holidays thrashing the poor old thing down the farm tracks near where we lived. We rode miles on that thing until we managed to snap the frame and it was game over. There's a reason why they're the best selling bike of all time!
If all bikes had neutral at the bottom, no one would never have to search for no neutral between the first and the second. It actually makes sense when you think of it.
Same here, really liking this new color but I think your Pearl Nebula Red might still be my favorite of all the color schemes so far. The pearl in that red is absolutely B-E-A-UTIFUL! No problem at all bud, it's the least I could do for all of your continued support... Thank you for not minding and hopefully it helps bring a few eyeballs over to you ;) Take care, ride safe and I hope you and your family have a great Christmas!
I'm old school and I personally think it looks better with spoked wheels and drum brakes. Yes I know disks are better, but I am speaking purely from a looks point of view.
I also wanted passenger accommodation on my US model. This omission should not discourage any potential buyers though. I was able to purchase the rack, seat, and foot pegs from suppliers in Thailand (check e-bay); and installation was uncomplicated. The swing arm must be drilled and tapped for the foot peg mounting screws, but the bungs are present on the US model, so this is a straight forward procedure. I consistently get 150 MPG, and love the bike.
Needs a side stand, kick start, and a long 1 piece seat like the old cubs\c70 passport along with a chrome rack sticking out the back. Would love the tiny front fender rack, too.
I like your thinking! It'd be interesting to see what they could do with a long one piece seat design on this. Even if you're not carrying a passenger, being able to move forward or back if you're taller or just in the saddle for a long time and need to change positions would be nice.
Having owned one in 2021, yes long seat and side stand would be great. Seat on the cub was like sitting on a church pew. Solid and not comfortable over distance.
Same, I'd have liked a longer seat where I could move for longer rides. I know there is long seats in aftermarket for this model, but it renders access to the fuel tank... complicated (the seat falls back in place unless you keep it up with your hand)
For me, tha changes that I would like to see are 1) a normal ignition key instead of the stupid food blender knob 2) the shape and looks of the late 1980 Cubs or the 110 models sold in japan 3) a kick start lever
Great review, Kevin... and thanks for the shout-out! I agree with all of your points on the Super Cub. In my opinion, this new colorway suits the Cub better than the "yet another blacked-out bike" look from last year. I'm still waiting for the rear disc brake and the side stand as standard components. I can understand the rear drum brake for cost savings, but the side stand is standard in other markets. Honda should definitely include the side stand as a standard feature on this bike... that was my biggest complaint with my 2019 Cub. It's awkward to hold the bike upright while stepping off of it and then propping it up onto the center stand. Some riders might not be comfortable with those gymnastics. It's much more convenient to prop it on the side stand and step off without worrying about balancing (or dropping) the bike. On the upgrade and improvement options, I've been preaching and dreeaming about a Super Cub Touring edition for years. Honda could increase the engine power slightly (PCX160 range), upgrade to the 5-speed transmission, a 2-3 gallon fuel tank, and related improvements in the suspension and brakes (e.g., longer swingarm, higher spring rates, stronger front & rear calipers, etc). The little Cub could be a superb lightweight touring platform and back road cruiser. I would DEFINITELY buy one of those! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Appreciate the kind words and support as always QM! You're more than welcome, bud. You put out some quality content on all kinds of platforms so it's the least I can do and hopefully it helps bring a few eyeballs over ;) Oh yeah, this color scheme is a lot more "Super Cubby" as another guy said when compared to last year's Matte Gray Metallic. It was a nice change of pace for Honda to try something different though, which is a rarity. Yessir, definitely some cost savings going on there since they can't do a straight swap with the rear disk off the CT with them having different wheels, unlike some of the other 125s where they can just copy and paste. You hit the nail on the head there, a LOT of people that are new or fairly new to riding aren't comfortable with doing that all the time to throw it up on the center stand. They may fall in love with the bike on the showroom floor but if there's a tiny bit of feeling uncomfortable handling it, most won't pull the trigger and will move onto something else - not knowing that you can easily slap a side stand on it. That move from Honda is beyond baffling and I'd love to know their real reasoning behind it. Ahhh, I like your thinking there with a Touring spec! It'd definitely be a niche market but with these being sold around the world and in a lot of areas where they aren't "toys" like they are here in the US, you'd have to think that the numbers of people interested in purchasing would be up there, pending how crazy they got with pricing etc.
The reason they sticked to 125cc is as in the United Kingdom you have a 125cc licence want to ride a bigger bike over 125cc and you need a different license and do a new test but you can have up to 16bhp in the uk on a 125 license so you could have upto 16bhp
Quasi, thanks for the recommendation for the bar end mirrors. Got them and love them. I had some blk poly caps that slid right over stubs of old mirror mounts. Enjoy your vids.
Good day to you! I am a senior rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan. I am enjoying camping ,touring and upload video. Your Super Cub video is so nice! Awesome! Full supported ! Have a nice day my friend!
My next door neighbor had a cub 50 and it was in their garage for many years. I don't know when they got rid of it. Then in 1983 I went to Korea and there were literally thousands of Honda Cubs over there. They were being licensed built by Kia, and were called Kia Hondas, with a 110cc engine. I grew up riding a 50cc Honda mini-trail and later I acquired my brother's Trail 70 with 4 speed in it. This family of engines is the closest thing to bulletproof you'll find anywhere so if you get a Super Cub, it can virtually last you forever.
Same here and it's pretty cool how different it looks depending on the lighting and you can't see the pearl at first glance, so that's a nice surprise when it pops! I like your thinking! Those upgrades paired up with maybe a tiny hp bump and a 5-speed with taller gearing up top would be massive for this bike.
I'm thinking about buying one to have fun around town. Missing my bikes and really don't want another heavy Harley at the moment. My back is bad and just trying to get them off the stands.
Love the color might get me one . Don’t need a side stand I never use mind on my pcx. For this small bike rear drum brake is all you need but you think it be cheaper to use disk brake world wide . Great video keep it up
Thanks for the review. This little guy has an incredible pedigree and history. For my money, I’d prefer the Trail 125, or the Monkey. I currently ride a ‘21 Honda CRF300 Rally. Great bike.
Always interesting to hear about what other riders are looking at. I just sold my Kawasaki KLX250 (with road tyres), it got great mpg on a commute to work. Considering various options as future commuter bike. Would consider a Royal Enfield 350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350 or Honda Vision 110.
Pearl gray is gorgeous, like the utility of the 125 trail more but! instead of a Hornet for 8 grand get the super cub and trail both ! Excellent piece as usual Kevin
lol I like your thinking there! Plus you always have the bonus of having another bike to throw a buddy on to go have some fun with if you can't round up anyone. Thank you, Steve! Appreciate the kind words and support as always ;)
"Less likelihood of you doing this" made me laugh. About 20 years ago my buddy thought he was hot poop on a bike and decided to redline my Cub 90 before stamping it in to first - while pointing at a house wall. The bike went instantly to 12 o'clock and rode up the wall about a foot with both wheels before tipping over and landing on my friend's face.
I agree that the PCX 160 engine would make the bike a little more practical and useful. Would be able to maintain 55-60 mph with less stress on the engine.
A regular kick stand and passenger seat would make this thing amazing! The extra half gallon for the tank would be nice, but the kick stand and passenger seat are more important
The newest iteration is faithful to the original cub and seems to capture the main elements of basic transportation. Much of the accessories are either vanity or utilitarian choices that will resonate as a personal choice for owner. Perhaps the choice of or a credit toward one accessory with purchase might solve much of the desire for more. It’s still a cool machine.
I finally got my 2023 Honda Monkey here in Canada. I wish we could get the rest of the line up. Both the super cub and Dax would be a great addition here, and become instant best sellers.
After decades since 1981 on bikes, literally all kinds of trail, sport & small commuter types , i vouch for Honda Cub as my top favorite. Aside from its legendary reliability & economy evryone knows, i feel "cool, simple & humble" on a Honda Cub & in a class of itself. And the pride of having a "cheap but respected icon" ❤❤
Thanks for the review. I guess people either get this bike or they don't. I bought mine at the start of the year here in Aus. It's red and cream ( the only colour available) and has rear pegs and side stand as standard. If there was one thing I would ask for it would be the ability to do motorway speeds ( 110kmh ) reliably. But Honda is not bringing any more in to Australia because it doesn't have ABS on the rear, and the market is too small here for them to bother meeting that design rule. So I'm glad I've got one as they are becoming rare. 👍🇦🇺
I was thinking about getting one, but does it have enough horsepower if I have to get the heck out of someone’s way? Living in New Orleans I’ve seen people on scoots get smashed.
Changes that I would like to see: 1. Replace the entire smart key paraphernalia with a simple dumb key. 2. Replace the self starter with a kick starter. 3. Those 2 changes would lower the weight, cost, and complexity of the bike. 4. Offer a rear luggage rack the same size and weight capacity as on the trail model Super Cub. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
That's exactly what I was thinking. This bike should be more simple, and adding these electronics increases the cost. I wonder if it can still be push started if the key fob battery is dead.
And, here are more changes to simplify owner maintenance: 1. Modify the interior of the engine so that: 1A. You can gauge oil level with a simple dipstick. It is stupid, arrogant, or both to sell an engine where you first have to idle an engine for several minutes, shut it down, and then wait several more minutes so you can lay on the ground to squint at a side window to guess oil level! And, if you add oil, to have to repeat that arcane procedure to see if the oil level is OK - or too high. (This error may have been corrected in 2022 or 2023?) 1B Have to partially dissemble the engine to gain access to the oil filters when changing oil. That should be easily accessible through a simple access plate with 3-4 simple screws. 2. Modify the access route to the engine’s air intake filter. It should be accessible with only one or two simple screws. Instead, you are supposed to remove the shift lever, the entire leg fairing, and more to even remove the air cleaner to simply clean or replace it! An hour or two of work to do a 2-3 minute job is NOT a simple machine! It is a very poorly designed machine. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
@@michaeldavis5775 G’day Mike. On a Honda motorcycle, if the battery is dead, or nearly so, the entire bike is dead. They run everything through the battery. Originally, only the lighting system ran through the battery. That helps to omit blinking as the generator pulses, and dimming out at low RPMs. The original Honda Cub that I owned over 60 years ago was the simple, reliable machine that could always be counted on. Now, I have to jury-rig a trickle charger on my Super Cub to keep the battery up during the winter. Not as reliable. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
@Jack Voss Thanks for the battery info on the Hondas. A friend of mine had a Cub back in the 60s and 70s. He rode it daily to school and work. It seemed like he never had any problems with it.
Good ! New color ! Have to say, the smart key is a nice feature... except when its battery runs out, then you can't start your bike. Not funny when you're alone in the countryside. I'd have preffered a normal key, and let's say, ABS on the rear wheel, or more basic : a damn side stand. Other than that, it's an awesome little bike.
I would love a flat bench seat, so that with my 6ft4 I can sit in the middle instead of being forced too far forward. I had the 110cc Wave, the predecessor, and did a 1000 mile trip on it through Europe. Good times...
I am only 6'1" and find it a bit frustrating at times. I can only imagine 6'4" is right at the edge of what's tolerable. Wonder if there is a long bench seat in the aftermarket...
I absolutely love my 2020 C125 Super Cub. There are a few things that I would like to see addressed in future revisions, though, which I've addressed in a few of my own videos on the bike. It would be GREAT to see some actual optional extras--including but not limited to the option for a passenger saddle/footpeg bundle, a slight bump in power output so that it could realistically achieve 70+ MPH, a [slightly] larger fuel capacity, an optional windscreen, optional handshields, and some options for ACTUAL storage. I've already added a windscreen, a center storage pouch, the passenger saddle/footpegs, as well luggage behind them--total quality of life upgrades that are a MUST! I know that the aftermarket offerings are globally abundant, but I REALLY wish that Honda offered a full line of OEM addons and accessories. After all, this is the most popular motor vehicle ever made, it should be supported as such!
Thanks a million for the kind words and support, Jay. I really appreciate it... Nice, it's hard to beat a Honda! I may be a bit biased though lol! I'm a HUGE Monkey fan. Speaking of Monkeys, have you seen those wild builds I featured a while back? Super cool what you can do with that platform! Thanks again for the support and hope you have a great Christmas ;)
My first motorbike was a Honda Cub (49cc) way back in 1965 and was used for (paid for) delivering newspapers. What would I like to see ... a tad larger frame for full grown adults (I was a foot shorter by in 1965). 2022 Super Cub color scheme = butt ugly gray .... 2023 pearl gray = huge improvement
I love the Super Cub, i have a 2019 model and it's no exaggeration to say that i'm completely in love with the thing. There are a few major problems that won't hit you until you get in an accident though (was ran off the road by a pickup truc and ripped my leg shield) and that's part availability and prices. I'm in Europe, i have to replace my leg shield, right fork cover and front fender. These parts cost an ungodly amount of money for plastics, and for some reason these prices are exclusively European ($492 USD for the leg shield assembly compared to $280 in the US and about $200 in Japan). This is something all europeans who want to ride the Cub should be aware of. Of course we can just tank the shipping costs and order from Japan, it's just a few extra hundred dollars and we wait for the parts to come by plane, fuck then planet right? But i think parts should be available at normal prices in all regions.
Nice, not many know about those MD models! I haven't seen an MD variant on the latest run of Cubs, however their "Pro" lineup for the Super Cub 50 / 110 looks close over in Japan.
Lol yessir, you hit the nail on the head with this being a lot more of a Super Cubby color over the matte gray! If we didn't have the whole rona mess playing around with production numbers which ultimately limited sales possibilities, it would've been interesting to see how the matte gray sales numbers stacked up against the others!
*These things are sold in Japan but are actually made in Honda plants in Thailand. You can actually get the ones released in Thailand for a fraction of the price. The only thing you’re missing is the Honda wings emblem.*
Great review! I love the Cub, been a fan for years (Ed March from c90adventures is to blame). Wish we had some cubs here for sale in Israel, I'd love a 2nd bike for the city, leaving the 700X for highway/touring. Would've loved if they made a 150-200cc version of the cub with some limited highway/uphill capabilities.
I learned how to ride a motorcycle on the Honda Cub in 1960 ! The Beach Boys had a hit song at that time entitled “ Honda “ ! Thanks for sharing this video ! Greetings from the Philippines !
your video asks what feature would we like to see. How about availability? I wanted to buy one last year, but the only Honda dealer within 125 miles didn't have one to sell and couldn't get one due to some sort of complex allocation system. So I had to give my money to someone else for something kinda similar. I guess Honda doesn't need the money
I agree with QM 100%. The color is much better on the C125 instead of the matte black on the 2022 models. People just don't see two wheeled small, quiet things like the Super Cub on the road. That's why I held off in buying a black scoot. I ride a white PCX150 and drivers still aren't paying attention. A side stand would be better because I would not be able to get my leg over the seat because of leg issues. Also, if I put a rack on the back and a milk crate for groceries, it would be impossible to get my foot past it. What's the stand over height between the PCX and the Super Cub in front of the seat? And I like the idea of a 4 valve head. I would think it would get more power and better fuel economy. Also a bigger fuel tank would be better too. Thank you for your excellent videos, Kevin.
It's a Step-thru! There's no need ever to through your leg over a Cub for cargo or leg issues, etc when you own a step-through. I speak as someone who owned and rode one for years ('83 Passport C70.) Cheers.
But what we *really* want to know is: is it possible to retrofit the cast wheels and disc brake to my '74 70cc Cub? Because while the extra displacement may be nice, the real upgrade to the classic is never having to tighten spokes and braking that doesn't require planning ahead...
Larger fuel tank and side stand! I've got this year's grey model, I'm in Italy so have the passenger seat. I love the bike. In my experience the suspension isn't a problem eventhough I regularly use white and dirt roads. The only problem I have is that one of the rear indicators falls out on the rougher tracks.
The matte dark gray was stupid. For safety a bike needs to be VISIBLE. I agree, a side stand & luggage rack are essential. I put saddle bags on mine which can carry everything you need. Chase Harper was my choice. I got 5500mi on my rear tire which is in need of replacement. Love the bike .
In my opinion, it’s a beautiful machine, but why not have a kick start and a xtra seat for passengers? Don’t need a remote start system. Just keep it as original as possible.❤
I have the 2020 Super Cub and the 2020 Monkey and the 2022 Trail 125. None of them have the oil filter cover with the two bolts. All 3 you have to open the case to get to the spinner and the filter screen. Thought the 2022 Trail 125 had it like the New Monkey but nope. That is one thing I wish they would change on all of them. Maybe 2023 they all will. Love all three bikes. How can you put a passenger on any of them with the weight capacity is so little. I myself am over the limit for the Monkey. I did install heavier rear shocks on the Monkey. Great little bikes and hoping they bring back a retro of the CT70's
I love the gray and white. My brother has a 2020 red and white Super Cub and I have a 2019 red and white Monkey. I would welcome some slightly higher cc options in these mini motos.
I looked at getting a cub but I got a honda adv 150 instead. The adv 150 has better suspension, more storage, 6 horsepower more, liquid cooling, and its more comfortable. The cub is very good looking though
Oh yeah, you definitely made the right call when it comes to overall functionality! You've really got to love the Super Cub's styling to give up all of that at the end of the day... How are you liking your ADV150? It's hard to find people that haven't fallen in love with theirs and end up riding it and having more fun on it than they ever thought they would have.
@HondaPro Kevin I absolutely love it. I have put 5,000 miles on it already, commuting, 400+ mile days on road trips, 115 degree days and 30 degree days. That lil bike just runs flawlessly! I'm not a small guy either I'm 6'3 200lbs
Honda should have a dual seat and passenger pegs. Also I don't like the key fob. It should have came with a key. Seems the new Cub has become a designer vehicle and not the legendary workhorse it has been.
A bigger fuel capacity would be great, but the Supercub is obviously meant for farting around in town and the big tank isn't needed. Still, the bike looks super good! Good job Honda! Now, if they'd bring back a line of retro-inspired bikes in a CC of 250 and higher for the non-mecha crowd, that'd be great. My first 3 bikes were Hondas and I'd really like to get back to buying them again. o7
This is the first video i have seen from this guy. I was not loving his voice, but then I was like, wait.. What? This dude is poppin out the audio and visual jokes-- bam, bam, bam--- and once I got into the groove, his voice made everything funnier. Can't wait to get to his next video
I'd rather have a normal kickstand, my wife has one and it's sometimes difficult to lift it on the center stand especially when wearing regular shoes. like to know if regular kick stands are available for the 2021 model.
For those who are comfortable riding on two wheels instead of four, this is an interesting and affordable alternative to the ridiculously overpriced autos. It also gets 125 MPG, which is about as good as it gets. I would like to see a small bump in horsepower so it may go 75 MPH and the passager seat as standard. Also, an ajustable suspension would be nice.
At that rate I was tuning into burgman 400 or c400x for these are the lowest end scooters for AZ phx city traffic-ready vehicles that can go 85+ but below 100. Comes w ABS as standard plus traction control on limited selection.
yah, that bump to 75 would be great. means that it could comfortably go on highway with some leeway either side of 60. though that slight boost might me a slight bit of bulk.
In America, it plainly needs more power, a larger gas tank and storage space. The larger engine you mentioned with a 4 valve head would provide more torque to pull into traffic and the power to stay in traffic on something other than back streets. The American experience is radically different from that of Japan, much of the rest of Asia and even Europe.
I owned a C100 Honda Supercub from the sixties, 50ccm 4.5hp four stroke engine, I loved it, and I could fix it sitting an my ass in front of my house, mostly it never failed, so I would like to get an older one, but not this
Different colors, with everyone on cell phones not paying attention gray is more difficult to see than say red or white, Definitely A side stand, I wonder if there's an aftermarket ons
If they'd make it easier to tear into and added a side stand, it would amazing. A pcx160 engine quotidian be cool too! My biggest complaint is accessing the internals. I can't stand how much a pain in the butt the legshield and battery is too access compared to the original. I scratched pieces the first time. Now I cover any thing close to the joints in painters tape whenever i access the battery or take the legshield off to be safe. Might just be me. I am ambivalent about the key
I love the new color. The flat colors many manufacturers are using is a fad and will soon disappear. The side stand I believe would require having a parking break because with an automatic clutch the bike can roll forward on an incline since there is no compression engagement as with a manual shift bike. That is the reason my DCT Honda has a parking brake. I would definitely like to see the 4 valve head and/or a 50cc increase in displacement. This would help with those that do two up riding and also some touring.
Yeah, it was an oddball from Honda to do that on this one as the Super Cub has never been known for an aggressive color scheme like that. Some love it but I'd wage that it's less than 10% and I'd love to see how worldwide sales numbers were for that Matte Gray Metallic colorway over the other model years but it wouldn't be accurate thanks to the rona mess slowing production to a halt. Normally, that would be true but that's only the case with CVT / DCT models. Since the DCT shoots back to neutral when turning the bike off, that's why a parking brake is needed and CVTs will freewheel hence theirs. If you check out other semi-autos like the Super Cub from Honda, with the Dax and CT - there is no parking brake and they have a side stand. Which is the #1473 reason that I'd like to sit down with some of the big-wigs at Honda and see why they do this or that lol, I think it'd be interesting to hear their reasoning and thought process behind some of these things. Oh yeah, a nice little bump in performance would be huge! It doesn't have to be a 20hp screamer but a nice little bump would only increase sales. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! If you don't mind me asking, since you said you have a DCT. What are you riding these days?
The transmission is not automatic but semi-automatic and if it is similar to earlier cubs you can park it on side stand in first gear and it will not roll forward just like a fully manual transmission motorbike. It will however roll backwards as the clutch release mechanism engages going backwards though with some rolling resistance as the clutch does not fully disengage due to the low speed it would be turning at.
I definitely would like the rear seat. I'm fairly tall and the Yamaha Super Cub clone I used to own wasn't roomy so I needed to plunk my butt on the passenger seat when I rode it.
What do you guys think Honda should change next on the Super Cub? ...and who likes the new Pearl Gray color over last year's Matte Gray Metallic? 👇
☆ ERROR: I'm an idiot... I had the CT125 on my mind when talking about the front brakes, the C125 (Super Cub) does NOT have a two-piston caliper like the CT125 but instead, a single-piston setup. I wanted to go back in and correct this but my computer is crashing every time I try to export the corrected video, so we're running with this - before I lose my insanity and throw my laptop through the window lol!

bring back the key or have the option to have a dumb key fitted
More horsepower like you mentioned at the end, and the other lighting configuration you showed. If they made those two changes I'd buy one.
Think i know why Honda didn't include the rear seat. 😞
Lack of rear seat is a deal breaker.
Dual abs brake system and liquid cooled engine, also better 125cc machine with 4valve and 5 speed
Edit : and add usb charger too, we are in 2023 btw 😆
I just got mine. It’s just so much fun and so effortless to ride .. I’m 57. Had dozens of big bikes over the years. Love my SuperCub
If there wasnt several miles of highway between my home and work I would 100% drive one of these. They are so iconic and beautiful.
I agree with mike. Don't forget the kick start. Nothing like coming from a store, and find out your battery went south for the winter.
Bigger fuel tank, factory passenger seat and pegs both easily removable, and dump that keyless shxt. I don't mind the rear drum brake.
Had mine for three years, done 1000 mile tours on it, it's just fine as it is. Carry a fuel can.
Needs a 5 speed, 2 gallon fuel tank and a standard rear rack
Oh yeah, those 3 upgrades would be HUGE and definitely a step in the right direction!
It should come standard with a passenger seat as well.
150cc and different gearing to make it highway legal. Those Honda Wave 125 in Asia comfortably cruise at 65 and has storage under the seat.
Would be nice if they would go back to the high low setup, that's what made it really useful.
For a low price of $5k LoL
Yeah 160cc engine at 16hp plus larger tank. Lots of folks are interested in the 180cc big bore kit but it requires and comes with a new balanced crankshaft. But yes yes 4 valve too. Also with that extra power passenger seat and tail box. Now you're talking.
I have a 2020 Cub with 30,000 miles it's so much fun and very cheap to keep
Like several million others I learned to ride (or at least how to fall off) on an old C50, I think was a 1968 model? When I was 8 years old in 1973 my dad bought one from his mate for a fiver and for the next 2 years me and my pal spent every weekend and school holidays thrashing the poor old thing down the farm tracks near where we lived. We rode miles on that thing until we managed to snap the frame and it was game over. There's a reason why they're the best selling bike of all time!
If all bikes had neutral at the bottom, no one would never have to search for no neutral between the first and the second. It actually makes sense when you think of it.
i really want a new super cub since my 2019 was stolen and destroyed! Love the light gray blueish color a lot...
Some nice improvements for 2023, I love this color, and yes a kickstand would be nice. Thanks for the shoutout. Excellent video Kevin. Ride safe!
Same here, really liking this new color but I think your Pearl Nebula Red might still be my favorite of all the color schemes so far. The pearl in that red is absolutely B-E-A-UTIFUL!
No problem at all bud, it's the least I could do for all of your continued support... Thank you for not minding and hopefully it helps bring a few eyeballs over to you ;)
Take care, ride safe and I hope you and your family have a great Christmas!
I'm old school and I personally think it looks better with spoked wheels and drum brakes. Yes I know disks are better, but I am speaking purely from a looks point of view.
Are you the same Kevin and Kev central? That’s a good channel. This is a good video too.
Absolutely!! Definitely a long seat!!
Kick stand.. and a regular key.. get rid of the key fob.. then I'd buy another one.
I totally agree with you about the single piece long bench seat, rack and front rack. Ask honda for a job!
For me, tha changes that I would like to see are
1) a normal ignition key instead of the stupid food blender knob
2) the shape and looks of the late 1980 Cubs or the 110 models sold in japan
3) a kick start lever
You put out some quality content on all kinds of platforms so it's the least I can do and hopefully it helps bring a few eyeballs over ;)
Oh yeah, this color scheme is a lot more "Super Cubby" as another guy said when compared to last year's Matte Gray Metallic.
I had one of the original 50 cc version. I would prefer a full length seat and foot pegs to accommodate a passenger.
I'm sitting next to my 1970 C70 Super Cub. More aftermarket parts available for it than any other vehicle on the planet
I like the pillion. Gives a nice balance to the profile look, and of course a nice fanny rest. Great video, and great looking bike!
I like the new color, needs that little bigger tank, passenger foot pegs, seat and offer an optional wind screen! I like it!
Interestingly the UK models come with pillion pegs as standard. Best mod to mine so far has been the top box.
Your name should be “Curious Kevin “ 😂 …nice review!
Just bought a 2009 Kymco people 150cc. $1K $260 tax title $4.50 full of premium. Spartan bike and just what I needed.
I'm thinking about buying one to have fun around town. Missing my bikes and really don't want another heavy Harley at the moment. My back is bad and just trying to get them off the stands.
That’s my story too, after riding heavy Harley Davidsons for years now my back is bad. I’m considering a used 2020 with 6000 miles on it.
Great bike.
Allen, Why do we need to know this ?
Always interesting to hear about what other riders are looking at. I just sold my Kawasaki KLX250 (with road tyres), it got great mpg on a commute to work. Considering various options as future commuter bike. Would consider a Royal Enfield 350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350 or Honda Vision 110.
Just wish they made a larger model. Being 6'4" riding one looks ridiculous. Same exact style but maybe a 175cc and a larger frame would be awesome.
Great video. I haven’t ridden the Supercub. I have a 1987 C90, a Monkey and a CT125 Trail….Each have their own plus points…Cheers Dean
The size of the gas tank has stopped me so far, and I'd love to see some better, longer rear racks so I could actually get some camping gear on this.
I agree that the PCX 160 engine would make the bike a little more practical and useful. Would be able to maintain 55-60 mph with less stress on the engine.
they keep it at 125cc so you can use it on L Plates here in uk
A regular kick stand and passenger seat would make this thing amazing! The extra half gallon for the tank would be nice, but the kick stand and passenger seat are more important
Side stands are stupid.
As a taller rider I hate that solo seat. Needs a two- person seat that would allow you to slide back to be more comfortable.
No
I'like to know whether the leg schields keep your legs a bit warmer and drier when riding in the rain.
Looks better than ever.Long live the Cub👏
Definitely they should bring back the physical key and a the passenger pegs.
Changes that I would like to see:
And, here are more changes to simplify owner maintenance:
1. Modify the interior of the engine so that:
1A. (This error may have been corrected in 2022 or 2023?)
1B Have to partially dissemble the engine to gain access to the oil filters when changing oil.
Dont agree on nr 2. I had one and never again. You want things easy :)
Love the light Grey and white . Looks like the Bridgestone 50 I had . I could only get to 47 mph down hill .
Good !
@@Tiaimo i really enjoyed mine and only got rid of it for not enough space reasons. Paid 2900$ new here in Switzerland.
I agree. Honestly, a windshield option and a passenger saddle and footpeg package would be amazing!
Kevin - Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos. I own 3 Honda dirt bikes and a Honda Monkey.
But... what about the passenger in the 2023 version? The matte grey has two seats, and this 2023?
I was really interested in getting one till I heard the price!. I picked up an RZ350 once for $2800. Wow have times changed!
Absolutely dope video on the super cub! Keep up the videos for the motor scooters! Please again keep it up!
Thanks a million for the kind and supportive words bud, really appreciate ya ;)
My first Honda was a Cub 50cc. I bought it back in 1965. Great 🚲 bike to ride & very good on gas. Back in 1965 gas was $0.39 a gallon.
Are they making a "Mail Delivery" MD variant for the 125 in Japan etc?
Nice, not many know about those MD models!
I haven't seen an MD variant on the latest run of Cubs, however their "Pro" lineup for the Super Cub 50 / 110 looks close over in Japan.
I saw this bike at the dealer and it's awesome... Just out the door is 5000... So sadly couldn't get it... YET!
Much better color this year. More Super Cubby color scheme than last year's dull gray and red
The grey is better looking in the flesh and not as girly .
@@rockinginafreeworld3256 yeah it's almost too tough looking for the Cub lol
Ya know why there's no pillion for the American market?
We 'mericans are way too fat and two of us would overload the bike's weight capacity.
Ill rather buy last years color this one is more Feminine
agree with what needs to be done. but they should put a 2 or 3 gallon tank on. I still want the Monkey .
Glad to see that blue on white ❤
Me too!
I don’t get why the USA version doesn’t come with passenger seats or foot pegs . In Asia people are riding them with their family of five .
All i want for Christmas is a silver Trail 125
Lol I like your thinking bud, that new silver is nice!
I'm surprised the chain didn't make an appearance in that maintenance schedule! I guess I don't need to worry about it!
With the popularity of E-bikes and the lightweight design of the cub, would it be possible to make the Super Cub a hybtid?
A bigger fuel capacity would be great, but the Supercub is obviously meant for farting around in town and the big tank isn't needed. Still, the bike looks super good! Good job Honda! Now, if they'd bring back a line of retro-inspired bikes in a CC of 250 and higher for the non-mecha crowd, that'd be great. My first 3 bikes were Hondas and I'd really like to get back to buying them again. o7
been a massive fan of the cub look. its that nice middle ground between a more hard core looking bike and a more lax scooter.
This is the first video i have seen from this guy. I was not loving his voice, but then I was like, wait.. What? This dude is poppin out the audio and visual jokes-- bam, bam, bam--- and once I got into the groove, his voice made everything funnier. Can't wait to get to his next video
I love all the Honda bikes and thank you for the video 📸📸📸☺️
I'd rather have a normal kickstand, my wife has one and it's sometimes difficult to lift it on the center stand especially when wearing regular shoes. like to know if regular kick stands are available for the 2021 model.
Need a version that comfortably cruises at 65+ miles per hour while riding with a passenger.
Quality video. I want 1 with that sweet exhaust on
My first bike was a 1966 Honda super cub in 1977 . It would do 50 mph
Nice colour and a great little bike
For those who are comfortable riding on two wheels instead of four, this is an interesting and affordable alternative to the ridiculously overpriced autos. It also gets 125 MPG, which is about as good as it gets. I would like to see a small bump in horsepower so it may go 75 MPH and the passager seat as standard. Also, an ajustable suspension would be nice.
At that rate I was tuning into burgman 400 or c400x for these are the lowest end scooters for AZ phx city traffic-ready vehicles that can go 85+ but below 100. Comes w ABS as standard plus traction control on limited selection.
buy a yamaha 125 cc scooter
@@ronthomas319 dude noooo, modern scooters are an eyesore
Overpriced as well as dated design without storage space under seat.
yah, that bump to 75 would be great. means that it could comfortably go on highway with some leeway either side of 60. though that slight boost might me a slight bit of bulk.
Get another bike…
The standard fuel arrangement is just fine! It is a great bike. I have a Ducati 999 s now But loved my 125 and 600 cc experiences
I owned a C100 Honda Supercub from the sixties, 50ccm 4.5hp four stroke engine, I loved it, and I could fix it sitting an my ass in front of
my house, mostly it never failed, so I would like to get an older one, but not this
Different colors, with everyone on cell phones not paying attention gray is more difficult to see than say red or white, Definitely A side stand, I wonder if there's an aftermarket ons
@@HondaProKevin I have a CTX700 DCT, a Suzuki Burgman 400A and a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 900 LT but I still would like to add the Super Cub. lol
If a side stand requires a parking brake, what are they doing in the other markets where it's standard?
The transmission is not automatic but semi-automatic and if it is similar to earlier cubs you can park it on side stand in first gear and it will not roll forward just like a fully manual transmission motorbike. It will however roll backwards as the clutch release mechanism engages going backwards though with some rolling resistance as the clutch does not fully disengage due to the low speed it would be turning at.
Always face a bike uphill when parked on a sidestand
I definitely would like the rear seat. I'm fairly tall and the Yamaha Super Cub clone I used to own wasn't roomy so I needed to plunk my butt on the passenger seat when I rode it.
Much prefer this color to the black or red models. Still wish they’d make a 150cc engine version.
Thanks for the video. It's a in town bike so tank size is adequate. A rear seat is good for strapping stuff down like a gym bag.
