What a treat to see Macaloney's on your channel! I live just down the road from the distillery and they were my gateway into single malts. I hope you have an opportunity to get your hands on more of their expressions because they are truly doing some magnificent things. I'm a big fan of their latest peated offerings made with Washington State peat.
This was a great introduction to what is obviously a great distiller. I have heard many good things about their peated offerings as well, with the snow coming, I should look for a bottle!
Just did a tasting with Lagg, Ardnahoe and Macaloney Peated. All recent releases and all enjoyable. IMO the Macaloney was the best of the bunch, despite being the lowest ABV at 46%. Each was beautifully peated but the Macaloney spirit was the sweetest and the best underpinning of the bunch.
Hello Jon. I just opened a bottle of Two Brewers Release 28 tonight. I think this will make a great comparison to the Macaloney’s bottle you have. That one sounds very interesting to me. It's starting to feel more like Fall! Great night for some Laphroaig. Sláinte 🥃
Great video Jon! I've noticed that I almost always find myself more impressed by the palate on Macaloney's than the nose. They're maming some really nice stuff. This single cask id say is pretty close to what I'd consider is one of their "house styles" which would be single malt aged in Portuguese STR Red Wine Barriques. In that sense this single cask should give ypu a greatvidea of what their unpeated whisky is like. Cheer neighbour 🥃
From what I’ve had from both distilleries the gentle pallet of the macalloneys doesn’t surprise they seem very well put together, love me some goyne though for bright fruit an spice in the 12 and 10. O an nice shelving display bud
I've only had Glengoyne 10, which is not too bad. A bit light on ABV at 43%, but that's better than the UK release at 40%. Cask strength should make quite a difference, look forward to hearing the review down the road. Ah, Macaloney's...at last! The colour of your W&B cask is spectacular. I have to admit to having more of their releases on my shelves than any other Canadian distillery. I've not had one thing from them yet which I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. As the whisky oxidizes it should get even better. Intrigued to hear your thoughts after you've spent some time with it. Have a good week Jon! 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦
@@WhiskyNeighbour Ooo, very good question. I realize their stuff is not inexpensive, so leave it with me for a few days. I'll do a run through over the weekend of the expressions that I have on hand. 🤔
I really like Glengoyne, and the chapter 3 was nice. The chapter 2 though was incredible, would kill for another bottle of that.
Oh? I did not hear that. Now I wish I had picked it up when it was around. Thanks for sharing!

What! I better get some of their peated release, that sounded fantastic!

@@whiskyonthewestcoast It was excellent, and the STR red wine complemented their spirit really well.

@bandicootman I need to try more Macaloney's. This is certainly starting well. Thanks for noticing the new lay out. I am enjoying it! Cheers!

You have shared before, but if I was to go with a core range .... what should be my first purchase? Thanks!

@@onewomanswhisky take your time, maybe a taste or two will help the answer!
