Ive ruptured my achilles on the same leg, same motion, same reaction. Took me a year to recover but with the right therapy, he'll be good. Prayers up for bro 🙏🏾
@blakewu1375 it wasn't a requirement persay. I had the option not to but my surgeon told me there was a greater chance of re-rupture if I didn't. Especially since I still wanted to remain active and do sports.
@ so how did the tendon reattach itself? Just curious. Obviously Tatum will get the surgery, which is better these days. I remember in the ‘80s it used to be a career-ender.
@blakewu1375 they placed an incision in the place where the rupture occurs. Then use biodegradable stitches over the skin afterwards. And it absolutely was a career ender back down. I'm curious as to why it's so reoccurring with athletes nowadays though

A "Illness" is the reason why my starting Center couldnt suit up in the playoffs. He didn't even try to play? This helped give The Knicks the first win of the series as well as momentum. Then Jaylen Brown gets 5 fouls in Game 4 and basically missed the entire 4th quarter leading to Jayson Tatum doing too much and trying to be hero and essentially getting a serious injury due to that. I'd be besides myself if I were a Celtics fan right now.

When Tatum grabbed his achilles / ankle area you HOPED the replay would show his foot / ankle was turned or twisted. When replay showed that his foot was straight with his leg (not turned/twisted) it virtually has to be an achilles injury. The REALLY sad part for BOTH Lillard & Tatum is that their achilles injuries happened so LATE in the year that they are virtually guaranteed to miss the majority -- or more likely ALL -- of the 2025/26 season, too. Wishing both players a speedy recovery!!!

I had never seen so many NBA Achilles injuries as I have seen in the last few years. Feel really bad for Tatum because not only is it a horrible injury, but the timing of the injury means we likely won't see him at all next season. Absolutely sucks. As an NBA fan you always want all the best players on the court healthy.
In some ways the sneakers have gotten too good. Sticky sneakers allow these guys to make ridiculous cuts at the expense of more injuries. Same thing in football. Plant the leg. Get hit. Blown out knee.
Its really not the sneakers. Its the type of movement these guys do compared to previous generations. Today's nba players do much more stop and start, direction changing movements which wear down the body over the course of a long season

When I was a kid my dad snapped his Achilles in a tennis tournament. It was as loud as a firecracker, and it coiled up because it fully snapped. He went straight into surgery and then a cast.

I’m no doctor but I’ve seen and had an achilles rupture before. In my experience full rip is less painful than a partial tear. A partial tear is usually what causes people to writhe on the ground in agony. It’s your body not knowing what to do with the sudden influx of pain receptacles going haywire
Which is weird because this injury is not that painful I can tell you I’ve had it twice. And I’ve had other injuries that were far more painful. So Kobe’s reaction was kind of like mine. I can tell you for a fact, this injury is not excruciating. It’s devastating mentally because you know how long you’re going to be out and how difficult the rehab is

It’s the shoes. Narrow toe box and toe spring make the feet weak. Heel lift makes the calves tight. Meanwhile the athletes are more explosive everywhere else. Jet engines on paper airplanes.

It’s the shoes. Narrow toe box and toe spring make the feet weak. Heel lift makes the calves tight. Meanwhile the athletes are more explosive everywhere else. Jet engines on paper airplanes.
@rizdizmcniz interesting. I've heard alot lately about narrow toes and and shoe design is flawed. I got a pair of fancy jogging shoes with thick heels and they suck. Went to flatter bottoms with wider toes so I'm thinking your on the issue pretty close fella. Nice!

If that was his response to a turned ankle, that would be embarrassing. I don't like the guy, but even I wouldn't expect him to react like that to an ankle, plus he wasn't grabbing the ankle.
