  • What a brilliant vibe in the BBC Introducing studio in Hull for a special show celebrating all things Ziggy Stardust, a tribute to David Bowie’s band, Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Woody Woodmansey in their home town. I was invited onto the show to play some Ziggy basslines on Spiders' bassist Trevor Bolder’s Bass, so huge thanks to The Legend Mark Kay and Tom Kay for bringing the bass (complete with original strap and green gaffer tape) into the studio, and to producer Katy Noone and presenter Alan Raw. A host of fantastic musicians from round here played fabulous interpretations of songs from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, top show. loudhailer.net/

Trevor's bass on "John i'm only dancing" is one of my favourite ever baselines. ❤🎶

Its a Kramer and an early one. Trevor mainly played a Gibson EB3 during the Ziggy era and later a well loved Fender Precision Bass.

The Bass was used by Trevor on the Uriah Heep Conquest tour in1980. The last tour for the original Keyboards player Ken Hensley and the only album to feature vocalist John Sloman. I as a great fan saw the tour with my first Girlfriend Karen. Memories eh!

The bass was made by Kramer and features a forged aluminium neck which gives it a really metallic sound which he uses to good effect on the Conquest album definitely some of his best technical bass playing! Really miss him Heep not the same band without him and Lee Kerslake!

Yes I’m really glad it’s at a good home. I think himself and Mick Box were sponsored to use Kramer guitars on that tour but Mick used his beloved black Gibson Les Paul Custom for the concerts. I hope Trevors beloved worn sunburst Fender Precision that he used for at least 35 years is also looked after. Great memories of a 57 year old 😀😀😀

My family own the bass. Trevor also used it before Conquest. It was his main bass in 1979 and as far as I know, the only bass guitar featured on the Live In Europe 1979 album. It’s a great piece of history. Trevor’s Precision is still in the hands of the family where it belongs :)
