Haha I like that! The acrylic two way and glass smart mirror will not be detected using that method though so it is handy to know of other ways. ie- if you have a mirror in your purse or pocket to compare the mirror tint, that can be super helpful.

Good point! All glass will have a slight reflection on the surface (about 10% compared to 70% for a two way mirror).

If you are in a motel or in a rental and you are nervous about it being a two-way mirror put a solid object over the mirror. Don't let your guard down because they are out there. So don't pick your nose in public or you could end up on RUclips :-) ............

What if we use a red laser light ? If it passes through it's two way, if it reflects back it's one way

I still can’t tell the difference I need help when I do it with my fingernail I can see it ain’t touching but when I look down the left side which is the mirror the finger nail ain’t even matching with my fingernail it is a little higher I can’t tell if they are touching or having a gap please help.

Yes, the mirror is usually embedded within a wall or over a wall to disguise it.
My house Male and Female Bathroom has a gap but my glass mirror touch my finger.

Why is it bad if they touch?
It's one way to tell if it's a two way or regular mirror.
It's so hard to find videos of people with actual two way mirror (and not just meme vids of testing if their hotel mirror is two way)
I wanna see how it works. Like back then I believed one way was completely mirror and the other was conpletely see through but maybe the mirror side is mirror only at a certain angle?
But I don't wanna buy a two way mirror just to play with it. A video could do that, if there is a vid out there that does that

Some high quality first surface mirrors (non see-through mirrors) have the same effect. It could be that as well!

Interesting thought! It depends on the glass, but that could eliminate the fingernail test. However, you could still shine a light to see if there is anything behind it.

No expert but surely how reflective a mirror is depends on its quality, age and so on.
It's mainly dependent on the multilayer application process and the cleanliness of your vacuum chamber or manufacturing facility. If it's degrading with age, someone messed up at the factory!

Two way glass can be any size! However, high quality first surface mirrors also have the same effect. They are not transparent.

i bought a mirror and hung it up, But it was a 2 way mirror? im confused-
It might just be a first surface mirror! These are high quality mirrors that have their coating on the face of the glass instead of the backside (like a standard mirror). This will give you the same "no gap" effect as a two way mirror. If you purchased it yourself then its probably just a higher quality mirror, no need to worry 😊

There are other types of mirrors that are 0% transparent (first surface mirrors). Oftentimes makeup mirrors are first surface mirrors so you can see better.

The fingernail test is not 100% accurate. My dollar tree mirror shows it's a two way mirror and so does my medicine cabinet in the bathroom by just the fingernail test. That does not mean someone is spying on you.
Sometimes the mirror can be so thin that you cannot see the double-image, or it's a first surface mirror that's 0% transparent. All very possible!
But... aren't you teaching people how to defeat your product? You would probably be better off looping a video with hypnotic swirls and calming voice saying some thing like "relax, that's not a two way mirror, you're just being paranoid, there's nobody on the other side, you're safe and warm and having a great day".

The *gap test is useless* because feminists don't know how mirrors work. The gap test can only tell you if there is a layer of glass between your finger and the reflective surface. A layer of glass in front of the reflective surface is *optional* for mirrors. A layer of glass in front of household and restroom mirrors is added to prevent scratching of the reflective surface. All mirrors let though some light. So household/restroom mirrors are *usually* sold with opaque paint at their back to prevent that. Pervers/cameras can see you behind a mirror that doesn't have opaque paint at its back and that either does or doesn't have a layer of glass in front of the reflective surface. Only by shining a very bright flashlight🔦 can make you see if there's a room/camera behind a mirror.
A pervert can put a mirror film's reflective surface on front *or* behind the glass layer. The gap test is useless.
A perver's mirror can be the same cheap stuff as in "illegal" car tints. A mirror film for a ok sized restroom mirror is $3.
It's really surprising how many western people, who finished school, don't know how mirrors work.

not sure if you watched the whole video but she did explain that the fingernail test isn't reliable and demonstrated two other methods to determine if it is a two-way or not, including the flashlight method you mentioned. so you just explained what she already explained.
