    RECAP:
    1. Jungkook is clear cut like glass, strong and precise= earth bender
    2. Jimin is elastic like a rubber band, movements have fluidity= water bender
    3. J-hope is joy personified, movements have warmth and to die for musicality, a LITERAL sunshine= fire bender
    CONCLUSION:
THEY ARE BENDERS DISGUISING AS PHENOMENAL KPOP ARTISTS!
LOL this is what I gathered from the video analysis haha jhope is actually kinda like air too but the guy is such a huge ray of sunshine XD

It's true that Jungkook would be an Airbender, although now that Taehyung had also officially joined the dance line, he'd be the Earth Bender for me. His moves are so.. So strong. I don't know how to describe since I'm no professional or anything, but all of them definitely have their own styles. So I personally see Tae as an Earth Bender--

jimin being a water bender makes sense because like in water, you don't actually stop moving.

One of the best things about BTS' teamwork is that they know when to own their spotlight and when to give the spotlight. In this dance routine each of them outdid their roles as the central attention and the other two flanking them did their best to make him look good. Jungkook owned his part, Jimin owned his part and Jhope owned his part. They don't have that hunger to steal someone's shining moment but instead try to make it as their duty to further highlight that shine. It's beautiful and shows their ethics as performers

This is bts personified , it’s the same with their solo music and stuff... they’re so supportive and I’ve never seen a competitive moment between any of them seriously when it comes to their solo stuff or solo parts on group performances. They’re always pushing each other to take that spotlight when it’s their time to shine... this is very hard to find in a group of artists... it’s beautiful to see !

okay something I noticed is when you talked about Hobi being able to dance within the pocket. With Hiphop; rap you actually do that too and one thing Hobi is excellent in and which not many can do is rap outside the pocket. When the bar finishes the sentence does not and I wonder if he may be able to do that bc of his great sensitivity while dancing. That bc of his dance and sensitivity to music he has been able to incorporate it into his rapping. The first person to introduce raap uotside the pocket was Biggie and honestly it rlly is not somethin you can just pull off.

When j-hope comes to the front for his part it really does make me happy too! I think what we feel at that moment is j-hopes excitement and joy for his part to dance? You’ve talked about that smile that he had on his face and I think when he walked to the front and opened his arms it was like a invitation to watch him dance but also to start dancing too and to feel the same kind of energy. For me personally every time I watch j-hope dance, I really want to join him!

Jungkook makes me think of molecular model because I can clearly see the structures and the processes that goes through in his dance. He's that precise. Jimins dance makes me imagine a vine that never stops extending and growing. His movements and body parts always find space to synthesize and reach out for more possible spaces to cling onto and develop. With Jhope I feel like he has a complete control to the very last sub-atomic particles of his body. He has a picture perfect image of the movements in his head and his body just utterly follows him spatially and kinesthetically. 3J brings out the forgotten biology major in me and I love them for it.

It’s ridiculously late but I couldn’t help but to find this video again after watching it a few weeks back.
I just simply adore how different Jungkook, Jimin, and Hobi are.
Jungkook has so much strength so his movements are so sharp and clear, which is something he admittedly said he’s been working on. I also couldn’t help but notice how when he dances, he’s completely different than how he usually acts. Kookie is such a playful but quiet person and when I see him dance, I see nothing but passion and energy and you can tell he’s trying to show you something, but he doesn’t continuously make that eye contact. I think that’s why I’m always drawn to him when he’s dancing because I want to see him let his guard down a little.
(This is going to be ridiculously long I’m so sorry.)
Jimin is almost like the complete opposite. He’s so flowy and he has this soul that he puts into every movement so you can see him improv and make the dance his own. He glides and smooths his movement together and I feel like I’m watching hip hop contemporary when I see him dance😂
J-Hope’s smile alone keeps my eyes glued to him. It’s like he’s so excited to show you what he has and that really entices his audience. In his solo particularly, I couldn’t help but notice that he becomes the voice in the song and he’s trying to have a conversation with you through his body. So some of his movements are sharp and some flow, but there’s a good balance in between that I watch over and over just to see how he did it.
But when all three of them dance together it’s like they all flow together so well so their differences aren’t as obvious and I BLOODY LOVE IT😭
    I’m sorry I love watching them dance😭

What I love about this video with these three extremely powerful dancers, is that you can clearly see the dancing background of each member. Jimin’s movement is so distinctly contemporary, (as in I can see the contemporary base, not that he can’t dance in other styles), compared to J-Hope’s, who has a much more popping-ish hip-hop style way of moving. Jungkook is kind of a mix of them both, I find.
(None of the above comments were negative, I love them all as dancers, and just find it fascinating how you can see their backgrounds and unique styles so clearly, and how they contribute to the overall dance.)

jhope is basically made of music. It's like it's his first language. before he spoke korean his body spoke music. every time I watch him dance I feel like he sucks me into this magical world of ttakttak boohhhm bbabba, y'all know what I mean? He's so damn inspiring I love this man so much.
every time I watch him I become a better dancer
    also on another note:
I only just found your channel and damn I'm in love. I appreciate your knowledge so much. I could never afford dance classes and I'm hella slow with following dancers when they teach. and the things you say are so ahh I love you

Ahh I love your reaction/ analysis videos so so much since I'm a dancer myself and you don't even know how refreshing it is to hear that Jimin is powerful too. And I'm saying that because many people say that "Oh compared to a street dancer like J-Hope, you can tell that Jimin was a Contemporary/Modern dancer, because his moves aren't as energetic and powerful" and those comments make me so frustrated because that's not exactly the case, and you explain it so so well for people who might not know a thing about dancing

    • @MissOmomomomo
      @MissOmomomomo 6 лет назад +9

Nelly Hamster honestly people who say jimin's dancing isnt powerful is either blind or is just refusing to see his whole ability. Jimin's dancing is a lot of things, i cant even put it in words. Alot of his parts in bangtan choreos became the "killing part" and he's know by the korean general public as a powerful well rounded dancer who can do both hip hop and contemporary. But idg why some ppl likes to put him in a box for "contemporary" alone as if thats the only dance genre he had mastered. Jimin started with hip hop and had done it longer than he did contemporary. He's more than just "an elegant contemporary dancer". He can be powerful when he needs to be powerful and he can be poised and elegant too. He's alot of things. There's tons of videos of him dancing to prove that. really tho jimin is a real dancer thru and thru and anyone who said otherwise is an idiot.

I love how they act as each other's backup dancers.
Like you said in your Tomorrow video, they know when It is thier time to take it up a notch and then also know when to let another member take the spotlight.
I like how they are there for each other, even if it's just a hand of the other's shoulder while they're grooving to the beat. They play off of each other so well and I think that is really fascinating to watch.

Again... Let me begin by saying I have no training in dance, it is just one of my passions...
First... Jungkook is one of those dancers that causes me to hold my breath when watching him. He is entrancing to watch. His movements are so explosive, precise, and perfected. He is so extremely powerful in his movements, I don't know whether to cheer out loud or sit silently with my mouth agape. For me, I can't pick a favorite part of his section routine, because his strength in dancing is my favorite, and that is throughout his entire performance.
Second... Jimin... Watching Jimin dance makes me want to learn how to dance. He is one of those dancers that makes me tilt my head to the side and watch them with puppy dog eyes. I find myself sometimes holding my hand to my heart when I watch him dance. I don't know how long he trained before BTS, but you can definitely tell he has had some level of legit dance training due to the emotion he can convey through movement. My FAVORITE part of this entire routine is at 19:29 when he does those shoulder pushes/ upper body twists... I honestly let out a weird moan/huff every time I watch it. His lines when he does that are just stupid good... I don't even know how to describe what I want to say.
Third... J-Hope... Gosh... I LOVE to watch him. Like, I SERIOUSLY LOVE watching him dance!!! He makes me want to experiment with dance. Try different movements, different timings, different styles... He's beautifully light on his feet, to the point where I just giggle at his abilities. His movements are so clean and crisp, yet flow like water. It's mind-boggling to watch sometimes. His arm movements at 21:09 make me smile at the preciseness of his movements to the music/beat. Then when you pause at 21:13 , his stance in comparison to Jungkook and Jimin is another level. It is a COMPLETELY different move than what the others are doing, even though they are in sync with each other. And his love for dancing is SO EVIDENT when he dances. GAH!!!! He is so good and so inspiring to watch!!!
Thanks again for these videos!!! Your happiness and absolute love for dance is contagious!!! Also, your analysis of their dance, from a dancers perspective, is extremely interesting to hear. I love your reference points and descriptions. The looping clips worked out wonderfully!!! I always look forward to your videos!!! Thanks for sharing, and keep smiling!!!

Jhope was a street dancer before he became part of BTS.
JIMIN used to dance popping since 8th grade (14-15 years old). After that he moved to Busan High School of Arts in the modern department. He was one of the top students and clearly very talented.
you can find out his pre debut videos on youtube.

Riki is entertaining to watch when she finds delight in the "purring cat" that Jimin hides deep down his dancer's body and unleashes from time to time to murder us with his smoothness.
    I like Riki.

🙏🏻 Thank you for taking the time to recognize the greatness of all three of their dancing. Jungkook doesn’t get looked over very much, he is very much acknowledged almost all the time but somewhere I’ve always felt he didn’t get the credit he deserves is in his dancing, as people really like to focus on Jimin and J-Hope because they’re the ones the the backgrounds in dance. I just feel Jungkook’s dance strengths are often missed because of this and it’s just too bloody fantastic of a dancer to miss out on! So thank you, this was a brilliantly done video! Thank you also for discussing House dancing, that’s something J-Hope is really into right now. It’s a fun dance style. Lastly, I found gliding to be so easy for me to get down. I retired from dancing about 5 years ago but still glide around the house all the time. It’s like second nature once you get it down! 🙏🏻

Looping: double thumbs up - I love that bit, love that bit, love that bit! lol. I said Bingo! when you went right at Jungkook's strength - the first thing I noticed was the stillness of Jungkook's center, which comes from extremely strong core muscles. His core strength makes his torso very quiet, balanced and stable, which translates to greater strength, flexibility and freedom in every move and gesture. It allows his movements to be quick, powerful and explosive or fluid, independent and fully extended or whatever he wants to do. Because his core is so strong and his center doesn't move everything else he does appears to be effortless. I think it's what gives the sense that he's defying gravity at times, like his body is hovering while his limbs act on their own.

    Circle Time!
When I think of Jimin's dancing, I think of it like a river or a stream. He's a classically trained ballet and lyrical/contemporary dancer so he learned from a young age how to move fluidly through all his movements. So I feel that this comes out in his dancing in that he's always flowing just a little, even if the music pauses (a head slowly rising, a shoulder leaning, etc...) Jimin has a soft personality, and I feel that this kindness comes through in his dancing. He is a slow burner. But he knows when to up the ante (ex: that one move from Fire, the iconic one near the end when he's in the front). It's funny that you mentioned a cat because he has one in his Serendipity trailer solo video. And I think it matches his personality so well... I think he particularly loves cats which seems fitting.
I always love watching Jungkook dance because (as you've said), he's always so very clear in what he's doing. He's got this technical precision and energy that pulls you in because it's very smooth and sharp. It's hard to describe but I just find myself drawn to it. Something I notice he does that I haven't seen in the other BTS members is that when he looks up, there's an intensity there. It could have to do with the way he keeps his head slightly down and is looking up more with his eyes, or that he's turning his head slightly to the side but that look matched with his dancing makes you even more invested and pulled into what he's doing. Of course this is a tech. practice but that moment when he looks up is a little example of that look that does all the time in live performances.
J-Hope is just always a high energy ball of sunshine. You know this is his passion, that his high energy mood matches the steps that he's doing. He's very sharp as well but there's a kind of confidence in his movements that is unmatched. Let me put it this way, if limbs could smirk, his are perpetually doing so. I've never seen him not give 100%, no matter what kind of practice it is or how tired he is. And as a dancer who has trained for 14 years, I can really appreciate that. He really is the second teacher in BTS. The first is obviously the choreographer that works with all of them but there's only so much time he's allotted to teach it so those who have more trouble picking up the choreography or even just want to practice it so their movements are clearer go to him to help them with particularly challenging steps... and I think that's absolutely fantastic.

I love the dance move in Jimin part that they “trop to the ground” especially Jungkook because he stays so much time in the air that you can get a quit look of how strong he is.
I also love the beginning of Jimin solo because he hits every bit so sharply and powerful but it doesn’t comes in a aggressive way.
I also love Jimin moving because he takes every move to the next level and makes every move longer without missing a bit and it reminds me of myself because i do that also when i am dancing contemporary because I think and feel that gives things more emotion and beauty, when i do that it feels like my life depends on every single move i just love it

  • @TheNoelRhesa

I love the moment right before Jimin actually starts dancing when he bounces a little on his foot. Idk why but it makes me feel like he's grounding himself for what he's about to do, like it's his last "breath" before he starts and it almost gives me this feeling of anticipation and then as soon as he starts he hits so sharp. It's amazing. I really love to watch it. It's small and almost barely noticeable. But I love that part.
I loooove how you describe or make note of the shapes that their bodies are making because it makes so much sense to refer to it that way. I've always seen it but never thought to refer to them as shapes but it's so simple and makes so much sense to me.
One thing I really love about Jimin dancing, is the suspension in his movements. I call it suspension but I don't really know what it's called. But it's that space between the sharpness/ cleanness of each of his movements. Because there's that breath there and it always feels like he's almost suspended. Not harshly but very melodically. It's amazing to see and so pleasing for me. It makes me feel like all of Jimin's movements are conscious thoughts that he's making but so natural and spontaneous too that they don't feel "rehearsed". I feel like it's one of the ways that Jimin knows his body really well and it translates so flawlessly. It's like he knows what he wants to say with his body in a millisecond and he's constantly making these decisions when he translates those thoughts or feelings into movement, into the choreography, it comes across so flawlessly, in my opinion. I think it's what makes Jimin's dancing so mesmerizing for me to watch. It makes it feel alive. (And I'm sure this won't make a lick of sense lol) but it's almost like he's deciding how he's going to do a move each time he performs it. And where he practices and I know that he really does practice; I feel like Jimin is a perfectionist, he's also living the choreo different ways each time. UGH! I hope that makes sense! >.< He knows his own body so well, that you can feel that connection just watching him. It's so captivating. Just like you mentioned earlier, JK knowing his strength, which I LOVED! OMG! One of my favorite comments because it's sooo true and it hit me so hard, gave me goosebumps when you said it. That's the same I feel about Jimin in this sense. He knows his body so well (I think that's what I'm trying to say lol, I really hope this makes some kind of sense lolol).

I like what you said about Jungkook meeting himself when he dances. A lot of people say he puts on a powerful, mature persona onstage, but that he’s really just some sort of fluffy bunny in real life. I have a feeling that this is a misunderstanding. Yes, he’s got a sweetness and sensitivity to him, that is clear, but I think the power and charisma (and yes, sexiness) that he exudes when he performs is also part of him. He’s quite introverted, as you said, and I feel like he’s able to express things about himself through dancing and singing that he can’t express in other ways. He’s not so constrained by his “role” of cute, cheeky, maknae when he’s performing onstage.
If you listen to the lyrics of some of his solo songs, like “My Time”, “Decalcomania” and “Begin” it seems like he has a lot of complicated thoughts and emotions surrounding the image of him everyone sees, both on and off stage, versus how he feels on the inside. This is not surprising given the “life like a movie” he’s had since he was 13. He’s still so young, and it’ll be interesting to see how he grows in the coming years. He’s already so impressive!
Anyway, Jungkook’s dancing style really appeals to me. All the members are great, particularly the dance line, but JK’s precise and powerful, yet graceful style really draws me in. He moves with such obvious strength and control but can also look like he’s somehow floating, or gravity doesn’t apply to him in the same way as it does to ordinary people. And he really knows how to move and use his facial expressions in a way that really slays. He doesn’t have to be overt or all slinky, but simply looks up suddenly and intensely with knitted brows while executing a series of complicated dance moves, and I always find impossible to take my eyes off him. ✨

When you were talking about Jungkook it made me a bit emotional cuz I think the exact same thing about him and I could never put into words why he stands out to me so much and why he’s one of my biases (I can’t choose between him or suga for the life of me tbh) but I loved the way you described him and I especially loved when you said that he’s shy but his strength comes out in his dance and his performance is just so eye-catching and I just agreed with everything you’re saying with J-hope and Jimin as well I just love everything about this rn lol keep this up please I adore you

As a dancer myself it's really amazing to see another dancer analysing something like this so specifically. Also while watching this I noticed some of their movements I have never noticed before! It really makes me happy to see you so exited about talking about them dancing😊

You can also see how each of them show their emotions/energies through dancing. Jimin has a more fluid, emotional movement to his dancing. Jungkook is more stricter, kind of focusing on when the beat is and when to hit it, but also very powerful and strong. J-Hope is more energetic and he always puts his own touch on every part he's given. But, they all have fun with it and that's what makes them so unique and fun to watch. I honestly love watching you get involved with all the beats and making the sound effects, its just so quirky and different, and I love it. Keep up the amazing work ^^.

My favourite thing with this dance is with Hobis, he's in center and he brings the flexibility of Jimin and the power of Kookie together with his own little flair and it just ties everyone and everything together and it makes me so happy because you can see all of them doing the same moves but because each dance is tailored to their specific dance style you can see the contrasts very clearly and it just makes me so happy.

So this is honestly how I view their dance styles. Jungkook is pin point choreography and power. Jimin is passion and power in his dancing. And J-Hope's dancing is all about feeling the music and emotions. I hope that makes sense.

One thing that makes me so angry happy at Hobi is that he’s able to submerge himself within his dancing, still hitting everything with his own style of accuracy and poise, while still be able to rap everything. He’s so connected to his own music that it’s almost a second nature to rap his lines while dancing. He’s what my studio calls a ‘natural soul’, (English translation might be off) which is basically just a person who is so in tune with their own body and rhythm that every time they dance, no matter how long ago they’d learned or created said dance, it’s almost like breathing to them. It’s different from the dancers that can memorize extremely easy, because he might make mistakes at times but is so casual about them and doesn’t let them eat him up inside. He finds the root of the issue to himself and can play it off so smoothly and I’m just all uwu for him whenever he dances. With Jimin, he’s got the sort of diversity in dancing styles that I am so envious off honestly. He’s something that’s just so entirely Jimin, being able to do other styles fluently and gracefully but still keep his own original essence of modern dance and contemporary that he’s come from. Jeongguk is a bit more of a different case seeing as how he was scouted so young, then sent to America to ‘have more emotion’ when he dances. He’s honestly a complete mixture of all of the boys together. His own style comes more from his detail oriented strength in my opinion. Just holy crap I have a major dance envy for these talented dudes.
Sorry if my English was off at any point, it’s my seventh language and I’m rusty😅😅

I absolutely love your thought videos. They bring me to my happy place, lol. I really appreciated your explanation about the tech performance vs the actual live performance. Oddly enough I actually love this version better and I always wondered why until I watched this and read comments. This version truly brought out alot of their real personalities as dancers versus their performance "characters?" (not really sure what to call it.) While I was watching this it really brought back to me how I see the difference in their styles and movements. Sorry this might be a bit long. The best way I can describe their styles is visualizing a body.
Jungkook is the muscles, not just from his shear power, but the fast twitch (clean, sharp, and quick) to the pull and push of power- based muscles. He embodies the choreo in every movement, expressing it's strengthen and precision. The only thing I miss in his dance style is that he's clearly still learning to connect the choreo and the music. He is such an artist in everything he does (singing, dancing, producing, film, and drawing) and with dance he's creating a picture which as an artist I love. But as a dancer I can't wait til he connects his picture with the music/lyrics and "paints" the song rather than just the movements. Even now he's growing, and I see bits of it more now than when he started.
For the other two main dancers, they truly embody the music but so differently. Jimin's dance is breathe. The inhale and exhale of his movements are gorgeous. Sometimes strength and powerful like a forced exhale (almost like a musician breathing into a horn) or sometimes the soft flow of unconscious breathing radiating through his flowing connections or in even the strange vibrating tension or stillness of a held breath. He embodies the voice, lyrics, and movement of the music in such an amazing way.
J-hope is the pulse of the music. He embodies the power of the heart beat, the rhythmic push of arterial blood flow, and the strange powerful tick of venous blood flow (the body's force to push the blood back to the heart). It's like you said he lives in the pocket of the music. He touches the music's pulse and embodies it in his popping, his fluidity, and his special "bounce". He truly radiates his love for dance, that strange, wonderful connection between the choreo and the music, the motion and the lyrics.
I love all three of the dance line! They really do complete each other in a special way. This video is awesome because it demonstrates each of their strengths but in the background the others complement the current focus so well. As a contrast, I'd love to see your thoughts on J-hope and Jimin's focus video for the Love yourself short films. There is a Bangtan Bomb of it, and I'm sorry I don't have the link. It's unusual since they are both doing the same choreo, but separately.

Im so glad that i happened to find your channel and these amazing, real, fun, professional, thought videos!
For a long time while ive been watching some of these dance reaction videos, it felt like they were missing something. Because i think that if you really know dance and love dance, it takes more than one time to see all the small nyances, feel/see the feelings the dancers have etc.

I think my favourite part of this dance is when Jimin does the like not-really-a-moon-walk thing, because what his feet are doing isn't super complicated but like its everything that he add on top of it. like the pop every time his foot moves back and the way his upper body moves, his shoulders opposite to his feet then on the last one down, and everything is just so sharp but also fluid aaaahhh!
also what you said about Jungkook's strength. one of my favourite things about dancing hip hop in general is that i get to pretend i'm strong even though i'm not. and maybe i'm not pretending very convincingly to an on looker but to me its convincing and it's one of the only times i get to feel physically powerful. and Jungkook's dance style reminds me of that and i like to believe that maybe, just maybe, that power fantasy feeling is part of why he chooses to dance how he does on focus on strength in a way the other two don't.

what about after that NOPE? J-Hope dose this golden turn! it makes me feel some type of way! his legs go first and then his torso and his whole level goes down a bit but his neck is like a rubber band. like there is a delay or something where his neck is being stretched before it pulls his head to follow after the rest of him! then after it's caught up it goes a bit farther before it snaps in. CLASS!!!

Jungkook loves dancing so much he works so hard to be at the level he’s at, especially since he’s the main vocalist and the centre of their performances. He even gets doubted if he’s singing live because no one believes he can dance this well and sing without his voice wavering. He’s The multi package tbh and the boys know that too, he was fully going to quit singing to be a dancer when he finished his dance training in America but jimin convinced him not to.

I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR A CHANNEL LIKE THIS FOR YEARS! THANK YOU! Thank for the joy, appreciation and love you have for the boys and for really breaking down their dancing. I think a lot of the time they just make it look so easy that people take for granted how much talent is needed to pull these thing off and make it look effortless. Ok, first off I'd just like to say a massive thanks to you for doing videos like these!! I'm not a dancer (although I've always wanted to give it a try) but dance has always fascinated me. I love bts first and foremost because of their choreos. And bts' dance line just fascinates me to no ends. They have their own groove, they give their own interpretation of the song and it's too beautiful to watch. What i noticed about these 3 at first is basically how you described them in this vid 😅.
I used to watch jk when i wanna know how the step is supposed to be done bc yeah, he's all sharp movements and precision. He's rly mentally present when he's dancing.
Jimin is a special case tbh. I mean, who wouldn't be captivated by his way of dancing?? 😍 😍 it's amazing how such a lithe body could hold a great amount of strength combined with agility and passion. He's all fluid movements, like he embodies the song and it's sooo beautiful.
Lastly, my baby boy hobi. I can't describe how jealous i am of his dancing abilities lol. He could do almost all type of dance and he doesn't stop learning. You're absolutely right, he lives and breathes dance. He's born to dance. He's so happy to showcase his talents to his fans and it radiates to everyone. The song, or music, gives him life. It's like he IS one with the music. His body ticks to every single note in the song and it's amazing.
They're all amazing. Even the rest of bts who are so not far behind from the dance line. Each member does his part in the choreo and it makes their performance all the more satisfying. 🖤
Anyways, thanks for reading my rambling and have a good day 😁

First off Riki, gotta say you're really a special content creator. There are loads of reactors out there but it's really wonderful to have someone who goes so in-depth and detailed into their analysis of dance and content, so thank you.
I really appreciate that you had the insight to point out that this was a tech rehearsal. That makes total sense. I've often wondered about this video why the three seem to be dancing strongly but not as passionately or fully involved as normal, and that explains so much. Gives nice context.
I also really enjoy you describing all these different dance techniques and moves and going into depth about how they're made, why they're chosen, and their varying levels of difficulty. So, thank you so much and please keep doing that. There was just in general a lot of that for this video, so most of my thoughts would come down to saying "ah, love this move, cool that you talked about it" - repeat.
Last thought is that I find it so funny how each member's personality comes through so strong in their dancing, and specifically in this video.
J-Hope seems to be the fastest learner, so he already seems very comfortable, in his element, and is the farthest along of the three in being ready for a live performance.
Jungkook is such a workhorse and perfectionist so you see him hyper focused on making each move as pristine-ly clean as possible. He's still in work mode.
Jimin's known to be very self-deprecating and harsh on himself, so you see this almost disappointed hesitation on his face stemming from him not being able to dance at full capacity via his wardrobe. (Another great insight, btw) This is especially highlighted when you see him slip. That being said you still see his patented razor-sharp hits on every move that he's perfected, but still.
Love being able to talk about this stuff. Also really appreciate how much you appreciate us and this nice open discussion. Thank you so much Riki you're really the best. (And anyone else in the comments who wants to chat this stuff up - I find a severe dearth of conversation over the finer points of performance and kpop so pleeease go ham on responding)
    Thanks! =]

What a wonderful comment, really insightful yourself and thank you for the lovely words about this channel!
That's something I find fascinating about dance and the body in general; you can tell SO much about someone's disposition if you just watch them move... you may need a bit of training first but really you just have to look plainly and observe clearly and the body tells you SO much about a person!

Your first impression of jungkook was spot on same with jimin and hobi like woah and I love how you talked about how during the tech rehearsal you mention they're more internal with their dancing even though they still go pretty full out and don't give out that same performance energy that's so true when preparing for a performance 👍🏽👌🏽 also I agree that hobi just brings me so much joy as well whenever he dances you can tell he's passionate about it and always goes hard

whoa I really enjoy watching this.. Thank you, rikki!
I don't know the exact way to say this as english is not my first language but listening to your explanation makes me appreciate the way they dance even more and I want to share some of my opinions as well. The three of them got distinct style and their own approach to dance, to move their body around the music..
JK is a very competitive person by nature, the way he dance as if he doesn't want to lose to the beat, he wants to be a winner, to be stronger than the beat itself..
Jimin is somehow a little bit more mellow (or may be because he got a pretty slow song), he loves dancing to the music that he dance as if he doesn't want to be separated from the music itself, dance to every bit of the song even when he supposed to be still.
JHope is a happy go lucky man who loves music and dance wholeheartedly, he enjoy dancing so much that I can see his whole body smiling (err I mean he express his happiness through his body so well that it's just shining through a happy sunbeam glow all over)
It's interesting and fascinating to see that despite their difference way in approaching the music, when it comes to performing with the team (as in all together as BTS team) they are willing to 'lose' a little bit of themselves to be in sync with a team as a whole.

I love that you loop the videos now! I adore your videos and have sent many of them to my friends who are dancers and they enjoy not only the performances, but also your commentary.
This is by far one of my favorite BTS performances and I actually prefer this version to the vlive one because the one on vlive makes it difficult to see their movements, in my opinion. This video shows the true extent that the dance line can take their skills to and I love that we can see them focusing all of their energy on choreography. Which is not to say that they aren’t working hard in other choreographies, just that the 3J performance is composed of people who define themselves as ‘dancers’ and therefore they have more space to showcase themselves. The three songs they did are preexisting choreographies designed by and for dancers so they are more difficult than what some BTS choreographies sometimes are. As Riki said, because they don’t have to leave space for vocals/rapping, there’s a lot more going on.
Ever since that original video that you mentioned Jimin’s transitions between moves (or rather, how he doesn’t stop with each move), I haven’t been able to get it out of my head. I notice it with every performance of theirs that I see. With Hoseok, I love that his background in popping shows through so well in a lot of his movements, especially when he hits the beat dead-on. And then there’s Jungkook. I could go on for hours about Jungkook’s dancing. It’s so evident that he puts his absolute all into everything that he does, even with small details. I don’t know if you’ve seen or heard about Burn The Stage, but he is the type to push himself so hard that he’s on the verge of passing out and that goes to show his dedication. He’s a performer through and through.
(Army, please don’t murder me for anything I just said, I meant it all in a positive way. Also, this comment was a lot longer than I meant for it to be lmao)

I have been watching your videos for a while now and I must say: You are one of the best "reaction" channels I have seen because you don’t just watch the dances but give your knowledge about dancing and your own opinion which makes it so much more interesting.
I have never been a dancer myself but have played piano for almost 10 years. When I watched the first MV of BTS (which was Dope), I couldn’t believe how in sync they were and how they hit the notes as well as the beat so perfectly. So your point of view makes the videos even more amazing.
Thank you for your reactions and keep your videos up. I always jump a little when you upload. :)

You have all the language and understanding of dance that I have absolutely none of. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn a little more to why BTS's choreography and dance line have me hooked like no other. Your point about Jungkook knowing his strength and using his body is definitely something I've noticed before, but you describe it in such a clear way - I love the mental imagery of it being like a knife. And I totally agree that it's really inspiring for someone as introverted as he is to use something as visible as dance to express himself - it's almost like a switch, as though it's a different person. This video in particular also really helped me to further appreciate the finesse of Jimin and Jhope - I'd never considered the fact that Jimin never stops moving before, but now I won't be able to unsee it! The BTS dance line compliments one another so well through the variation of intensity and style. Every time I watch another one of your dance 'thoughts' videos I get a further appreciation for the skill of these guys. Thank you Riki, and keep up the great work!

Thanks for another amazing thought video!❤👏👏
For me this dance practice is my fave among vids that has the three or two of them dancing together. Compared to the olders ones this already shows a maturity and evolution of their individual dance style from dancing together for many years. Each has already absorbed the others technique and style but at the same time they're still completely different. Jk for me has the most growth, I think from dancing together with Jimin and JHope for so long he's become like their love child - showing both Jimin's grace and JHope's power. As of now he's like a barely contained nuclear reactor, every move he makes is just brimming with power, which he'll probably learn to control/contain in the years to come and be close to JHope. Jk embodies the "spring of youth" - as Rock Lee of Naruto frequently exclaimed😂. Much of the choreography are a direct copy from the originals but with them dancing, it's totally different. The Coco choreo is by far my fave, both the original and 3J version. Overall I just love the music and choreo choice they made❤

    3. I have always loved how those three have very different dance styles (Jimin is more contemporary/ballet - aka fluid as all get out, J-Hope very hip-hop and his control over every cell in his body is AMAZING, and then Kookie just like you said, strength and sharp like a knife) yet they always work together beautifully! All three are always so clean and full of control and they way the 3 different styles mesh and rotate through is mind-blowing!!!!

There is another video of this that is the dance practice. I love it because they are still learning the steps, and we don't get to see that very often. I love that you talk about the differences in the guys. I see the strength in Jungkook's dance, and the elegance in Jimin's, and J Hope--(harder to put into words) the ease or naturalness of his dance, with no wasted movements or extra flourishes. Does that make sense?

I love how you're replaying the part you're talking about! Great editing choice!!! SO HELPFUL! This video was so fun. I love watching J-Hope dance the most because he always looks like he's having the best time :D I love learning little things about dancing too! You're teaching me things! haha. I don't know if you'd watch other groups/people dance but I'd love to hear you talk about Taemin at some point. It's cool if you just stick with BTS though

10:37 This is so weird but I’ve actually had that EXACT moment happen to me in real life and still can’t explain it right. At the WINGS tour during Spring day, Jungkook (along with the others) did this dip thing before walking backwards. As he lifted his head and body, his eyes latched onto mine and he didn’t look away until he was done moving backwards and HAD to look in front. His eyes didn’t roam or leave mine and I was close enough to tell he was looking right at me. I honestly felt like I was put into a trance or like we just communicated through that one look. I literally felt like he just saw my whole life story in my teary eyes. It lasted maybe 5 seconds but it felt like time was slowed down. Like even talking about it makes my eyes water and my throat tighten. Weirdest and best thing that has happened to me EVER.

I'm trying to imagine what it would feel like to experience that in real life and all of them end in the spontaneous combustion of my soul. HOW DID YOU EVER MANAGE TO SURVIVE THAT?!?!?! I mean, just trying to envision this has got me hot all over and absolutely out of breath - like wow. WOW.

Alias I was already sobbing at this point but I don’t know dude! My friends mom was like hugging and holding me up because I was crying so hard. I almost was on the brink of passing out the entire show! My head was like pounding so much that my J-hope hat was hurting me. I have never cried so much in front of strangers. Felt exhausted and couldn’t speak for FOUR days afterwards.
There was like a strange sense of reassurance or sympathy or something in his eyes. I’m not even explaining it right and I don’t think I can. 😂 It’s like he was asking why I was crying but at the same time knew why and was saying “it’s okay”. It was literally just like the movies.

HOEseok Jung My entire SOUL is aching from the description of your experience. That's so amazing and beautiful and mysterious and powerful like I honestly lost my breath while reading this. AND THAT BIT ABOUT HIM COMMUNICATING WITH YOU - afkhgbsfkgvjsrngjnae I can't EVEN. Like, it was real for you and I can't get over that because it sounds like such a fairy tale. (I'm talking to myself here but) IMAGINE looking Jeon Jeongguk in the eye for 5 whole seconds. I'd catch fire (or fall in love but I mean I'm already there so whatever)
I'm really just shook at how shook you were and also oddly proud of you for having the BLESSED fortune of experiencing this AND FRICKEN SURVIVING. I'm pretty sure I would die.

Alias This is also gonna sound nuts but I felt so good after the concert. Obviously not physically but spiritually and emotionally. I was really horribly depressed in 2016. I cried every single day, told myself scary things every day, and had really bad panic attacks. March (month I went to the concert) was always a reminder of someone I lost when I was a child. I don’t know if it was that entire experience or just that look but something really healed me. After that I had only had one panic attack in 2017. Just one.
I’ve been thinking of painting it because it was so crazy but I just haven’t had time. Literally everything was out of focus but Jungkook’s face and eyes. That was the biggest memory for me at the concert.

    • @marizzobell
      @marizzobell 6 лет назад +2

HOEseok Jung None of that sounds crazy. I can't speak from personal experience but I can relate on a fangirl spiritual level as to how that could be life changing. You had an amazing experience and I'm so glad that it made you feel better and that you ARE better because of it. I think you should definitely paint whatever you remember from that night if you can so that you can have a physical reminder of it for whenever you need it.

I was yelling, yessssss, whenever you said something. YES WASN'T THAT BIT GREAT?! Jimin and those damn shoes. I started talking to you (on my iPad) as if you could hear me. Then I laughed at myself. In the actual practice room video, J-Hope was explaining that part of the choreography you like the swing, but he was singing. I love when he sounds so sweet. Though, I would not like to be one of his students. I think he would make me cry with all the bah bah bahs, he does. When I danced, I had a difficult time taking what I learned in a practice room onto a stage for blocking. It made me crazy because everyone seemed to just fall into there places and I just couldn't get right away because it's bigger and it looks different and it just took me a bit. I know BTS spends a lot of time blocking for concerts and THAT must be miserable.

There's vids of them predebut and after I watched where their strengths lie it just totally made sense to me watching them after that. I can totally see what their backgrounds are watching them now.

I left a comment about Jungkook but I have a separate question about J-Hope: what makes him so different and distinctive? He's not the only tall, lanky dancer out there but you'd know it was J-Hope immediately even if you just saw him shadow dancing. The only guys I've seen that come close to having his unique flair and charismatic individuality as a dancer are Taemin and NTC's Taeyong. If J-Hope is visibly different than other dancers then we should be able to describe the differences but my eyes aren't educated enough to pinpoint what makes J-Hope J-Hope. Can you put it into words in a future video, please? Thanks.

Hobi Kanobi - No problem. I got what you said before you deleted it. I'm not a dancer but I think there's more to it than J-Hope's flexibility & emotion or one's taste in dancers or judgement of how good he is vs any other kpop idol. He looks different but I can't articulate why. Maybe I'm wrong but that's why I asked. Thanks for your deleted comment, though.

Rather than taeyong from nct you should’ve said ten, he is a far better more smooth dancer and you can easily tell from his hit the stage performances or his solo song choreo, he’s up there as one of the best along with taemin and J-Hope imo

Keekoh I've noticed that people like Ten more than Taeyong and he is smooth as hell and a pleasure to watch like Taemin. I wasn't trying to rank them as dancers. In most groups everyone blends together but Taeyong and J-Hope always stand out and grab my attention, which is what I meant by flair and charisma. I like the boy's style. :)

I reallllly love how at 21:12 of your video jhope kinda opens his arms so wide. Tho my absolute favourite is the jimin part you mentioned. And for some reason, the first time I watched the video I couldn't stop watching jungkook's slide to the right part where he illusion-controls his knees with his hands and jhope's "ring ding ding" part😂 Riki, I love your videos and it gives me a new perspective towards BTS' dancing. I already loved their dancing and choreos but your videos have made me appreciate their unique movements and style of dancing more. So, really! Thank you! here’s something you should probably know about jungkook: he’s honestly good at everything, and smooth as hell. he used to be very introverted, but broke out of that slowly while dancing, because he usually looks down and focuses on why he’s dancing, and who/what he’s doing it for, and he wants to push his body so he can do well for the audience and for the sake of BTS.
as for all of bts: they are very very used to dancing in those type of shoes because of all of those experiences while practicing, as well as being able to dance in tights. they debuted in 2013-2014(?) and worked their way up to now, and yes they dance so gRaCiOuSlY. also jimin used to be in this ballet dance so that’s why he has those type of “movements”

So, my bias is RM but lately, my biaswreckers have been Jhope and sometimes Jungkook and your comments actually voiced why I love them so much. Jhope has such a passion and happiness to him especially when dancing. Like, dancing is his true passion and I can tell he's happy whenever he's dancing. I'm not a dancer (and I'm far too clumsy and awkward to be able to do anything like what they do) but when Jhope dances, I can't help but to smile. He just projects joy and happiness when he dances hiphop. He really is a sunshine embodied in a human. And Jungkook. What you said really made sense. He's super to himself and reserved but when he dances, you can really feel him and his strength. He's so strong and powerful but he does have a bit of a vulnerability to him that I noticed but didn't fully register until you brought it up. I call him my sweet bunny boy cause of his adorable smile but when he dances, that is not my bunny boy anymore. He is Jungkook. But that moment where he looks up and you can see his eyes, I saw a bit of that bunny boy and now I can't not see it and it just makes me really soft. And then Jimin, I 100% see what you mean when you say that it looks like his body never fully stops in his solo. No wonder it looked so smooth when he did it, he just flows right into the next move without pause.
Without your comments, there are so many nuances of this performance that I wouldn't have known about. I'm not a dancer nor am I a performer in general so I don't have a professional eye for any of this (except maybe the instrumentation because I used to be in band but that was years ago and I wasn't that good) so these videos make me appreciate their performing even more.

Ahhh Riki, thank you for the awesome review and those little PIP loops really are helpful!! I've never minded your pausing or anything, I just watch/listen to you break down their dances happily the way that you do them haha, your excitement and your input is always appreciated by this girl /points to self/
So, just wanna ramble for a sec, just observations lol... As much as I absolutely do NOT know about dance (I've never been trained, I'm just a lifelong observer lol) I find that you notice so many tiny things about their dances that I notice too, their subtle movements, facial expressions, timing and control, things that add flare and make their performances feel so much fuller and satisfying, like a really good meal lol like imagining any other trio dance this routine after watching Jungkook, Jimin, and Hoseok do it would feel like having Gordon Ramsay whip up some gourmet mac and cheese from scratch and then going home and making a sad bowl of Kraft dinner lol like there's no comparison, there's no way I'd settle for it. I just really appreciate the effort they put into their routines to make them feel as full and satisfying as they do. They truly take my breath away, I get lost admiring them, and I often pause and rewind and set on a slower speed so I can really take it all in. They're so in-tune with their own bodies and each other despite this just being a dance practice, they have really hammered this routine in hard, but yet each of them still exhibits their own style too? If that makes sense? Lol like even though they're making the same motions I can still see the difference in their dance personalities. Lol idk, end ramble.
I don't really have words for specific sections of their routine, this was more like an "as a whole" ramble type comment I guess, but just thought I'd drop in my 2 cents, the ongoing theme among all your videos I've watched and how we both appreciate the fullness of their routines. And your excitement adds to mine when I watch your videos and I love it. And I love you! That's all (: Hope you're having a lovely evening, m'dear. Take care.

I'm so happy that you decided to do this video! It is one of my favorite videos of them dancing because I feel it really fully shows their talent in dancing alone, rather than having them singing as well, and acting while on the stage. It really just showcases them as dancers and their styles as dancers. I also realized while watching this video that before I started watching you, I didn't think about how much raw power they each posses while dancing until you started pointing it out. Now though I see it in every video of them that I watch. I think that the part in Hobi's part of the dance when its just him in the very beginning and he's doing this movement with his arms, it honestly looks like his arms shouldn't even be moving that way, and he does it so sharply, and I completely get what you mean when you say that he is just in the pocket of the music, it makes complete sense. I love your videos and I can't wait until next Sunday to see which video you are going to do a thought reaction to next!! FIGHTING!!

You described perfectly well Jimin's dancing and I think that's why I like Jimin's dancing so much in general, like, it's like a never ending story. Everything is just so smooth and fluid and it just creates this aura around him idk how to describe it
I especially liked J-Hope in this. First, because you can just feel his joy like omg he's literally a ball of sunshine so you can just feel his energy but at the same time he's just so. fricking. skillful. Like, with each of his movements you can feel how much of a good dancer he is and idk his technique is just on point but at the same time there's this freedom when he dances I love it so much
Oh and everytime i watched this I always wondered why Jungkook's dancing style was so different from the others and you also described it really well, so thank you !
I love this because you can just see each boy's style even when they're doing the same choreography

You are the most precious thing ever and the looping was an amazing idea so kudos to the lovely person who gave you that idea. I'm not a dancer but I did do musical theater and choreographed stuff for a short while and i'd have to agree with how raw it feels when you watch a rehearsal. I go to Uni and work in technical theater now for live stages and film (specifically lighting) and it's so interesting to see how they dance in order to also help the tech people figure out how they will dance. Cause really, there isn't a lot of moving with the lights or anything, but timing is so important to make sure all their hard work is seen. My other favorite thing you said was the boys embody different characters of themselves. I don't know if you've seen it, but each of the members have a playlist on spotify and I find that the songs they shared with us really reflect the way they perform and even these song choices.

  • @faithnicoleofficial

I agree, Jungkook does have power. But Jimin has grace. With every dance that he does, he brings an elegance to it that none of the other members seem to be able to pull off. Jimin has a different kind of fluidity. When I look at dancing, I don’t just see the movements. I see the passion behind the movements. Jimin has an insane amount of passion and that works in his favor because he just makes it look so effortless. Whereas the other members of the dance line (Jungkook and Jhope) come at it from a more technical angle. Jimin just becomes the music. His body flows with every song he performs. I would be interested to see what you think of Jimin’s solo dance ‘Lie’.

I especially love how you break down BTS' dance, because as someone who knows absolutely nothing about dance, this is really, really, really educational to me. Because of watching your videos, I got to fully appreciate each members' dance style - especially Jungkook, Jimin, and J-Hope. These dance break down videos are just sooooo satisfying to watch! I got to appreciate the littlest details about their dance through your eyes, and I think I from now on, I'll be able to better criticize and enjoy every dance routine I see - not just of BTS, but of other artists' too. Thank you sooo much for making these videos, it's seriously a blessing!
PS. If I may request, could you possibly make a break down of this, too? This is the best fancam of Jimin dancing to Serendipity that I have watched. Love the looping! It made it so much easier to see what you're describing!
I love how much you can see their individual styles in this clip. My favorite parts for each are:
    1) the last 10 secs of JK's dance, because of the contrast in his upper and lower body
    2) The way Jimin's entire dance pairs the smooth rolling motions and the popping
    3) How bouncy JHope's entire dance is -- it makes it feel so light and fun, and I feel energized just watching him.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the Boy Meets Evil Comeback Trailer. I'm in awe of JHope every time I watch it.
Also, you might enjoy watching Jimin & JK dancing to the "Coming of Age Ceremony" (aka "Adult Ceremony""). It's so interesting to see how they adapted a more female choreography -- what they changed and what they didn't. Unfortunately, the Bangtan Bomb focuses a lot on the other members' reactions, and the only performance video I've seen of it was blurry (and probably copyright).

Full of joy?? I love that you say "I love that bit!" Every five minutes, and that you are obviously having fun and laughing watching them dance idk. You mentioned that you can't help but smile when J-Hope walks forward and honestly I'm the same the second I hear "Hola!"

I have literally no idea about dance and dancing techniques whatsoever. But when I watch BTS dance I get this immemse pleasure. It is so satisfying to watch them move and in my opinion if a person like me who has no idea about dance can be so intrigued by them then as dancers they have really achieved something. And by the way I really like your thoughts on dance. Everyday I am learning something new about dance thanks to you!
