It's funny how while I was watching something else noticed this on my recommendation I thought it was your inferno video(seen like 5 times). Looked at it again and it was released a few hours ago. the free well of human and what marco said really touched my heart. answer to my problems as well the question i had in my mind... what interesting most about all this is, i thought dante divine comedy must be boring but it ends up teaching me so much and answered by question in an straightforward way....
I don’t think the story is about the lessons Dante learned, but the lessons the reader learns from his experience. I could be wrong but that was what I took away.
Thank you for such an immense work as I waited for Part 3 for more than a year. Your Dante’s narration resonated deeply with my works as an ICU doctor during the pandemic, where I often question why, how, and to what end? It brought some peace to have an interpretation, meaning to peek into how Dante had viewed and influenced generations for a hope of an afterlife.
If this fabulous story is new to you, or mostly new and are intrigued I suggest you read it for yourself. Keep in mind this was written in the 13th century. First look into the various translations - some are much more readable than others. Dante was a genius. This video is a good synopsis. The actual writing contains so much more. The imagery is unforgettable!
I agree with you. (If somebody reads this and hasn't read the original yet, I suggest reading John Ciardis translation, since it's the best one I know)
I just watched this movie called The Core, they have to drill into the core to save the planet. The giant dry they use to drill into the Earth was named Virgil. They said he was a Guide to Hell
To me it is remarkable how similar the two peoples accounts are , Dante' as he climbs the ladder up to Saturn and sees how tiny and insignificant the earth is... as well as the account of Michael Collins (Apollo 11; 1969) said that "the thing that really surprised me was that it [Earth] projected an air of fragility. And why, I don't know. I don't know to this day. I had a feeling it's tiny, it's shiny, it's beautiful, it's home, and it's fragile. How many a scientist reacted to ''The Pale blue dot'' is exactly how Dante' reacts to seeing the earth ... so interesting to see how True and tangible the spirit realm actually is.
I would argue that the divine comedy is also a reflection on life and ones search for happiness, love and contentment rather than solely a reflection on the afterlife... He starts off lost and goes through hell and up to paradise with a guide... In any case it is one of the most remarkable pieces of literature ever written.

Bro the idea of being tortured for all eternity for committing suicide and wanting to end your suffering in life is two back to back kick in the balls from a horse
Brilliant all the way through. I find it interesting that the early sphere in Paradiso feels like more purgatory steps. Only once he meets with John, Peter, and James does it feel like modern-day heaven.
A convoluted process of acknowledging one’s actions and taking responsibility for the actions both good and bad. Ultimately one’s soul is cleansed and free to become closer to God. The journey of Dante is fraught with inner turmoil and uncertainty and it also reflects the politics of the day. Thank you for sharing your interesting insights into this work of fiction.

@@GunnumnThere is a recreation in the works called “Metal Fury” which is a reimagined Dante’s inferno. Its centered on a man who suddenly dies from a freak accident. If I were to reimagine and retell the Divine Comedy, Terry Pratchett would be my guide and some things Dante thought he saw turned out to be something else. Also, Hitler would be slowly impaled on one of the Devil's horns once for every soul he destroyed with his hate. Every time someone brings up his good points, the impalement goes a little faster and when it ends he has to start over for the next soul. He's done at least 10,000 so far, only 6 million to go and counting because lives are still being destroyed. There's a spot reserved for the other horn, you can guess who I picked.
