North Macedonian intellectuals are fully aware that themselves and their fellow citizens are Slavs related to Bulgarians and hence unrelated to the ancient Macedonians, who were a Greek people. Only the North Macedonian ultranationalists claim - hilariously - that the North Macedonians are the “direct descendants of Alexander the Great”. Denko Maleski, professor at the University Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, North Macedonia (International Politics and Contemporary Political Systems) and former Minister of foreign affairs of the then FYROM, said: “The creation of the ‘Macedonian nation’, for almost half of a century, was done in a condition of single-party dictatorship [i.e: Yugoslavia’s Communist Party]. In those times, there was no difference between science and ideology, so the Macedonian historiography, unopposed by anybody, comfortably performed a selection of the historic material from which the [North]Macedonian identity was created. There is nothing atypical here for the process of the creation of any modern nation, except when falsification from the type of substitution of the word 'Bulgarian' with the word 'Macedonian' was made. Thank for Supporting Hellenic History ! The Pella curse tablet is a text written in a distinct Doric Greek idiom, found in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedon, in 1986 Ιt contains a curse or magic spell (Ancient Greek: κατάδεσμος, katadesmos) inscribed on a lead scroll, dated to the first half of the 4th century BC (c. 380-350 BC). It is held in the Archaeological Museum of Pella. It was published in the Hellenic Dialectology Journal in 1993.[2] The Pella curse tablet exhibits some of the typical Northwest Greek features,[3] as well as a cluster of unique Doric features that do not appear in other subdialects of this family (e.g. Epirote, Locrian). It represents the same or a very similar vernacular dialect that is also attested in the other Doric inscriptions from Macedonia.[4] This indicates that a Doric Greek dialect was not imported, but proper to Macedon.[5] As a result, the Pella curse tablet has been forwarded as an argument that the Ancient Macedonian language was a dialect of Northwest Greek, and one of the Doric dialects.

Haplogroup I is the oldest major haplogroup in Europe and in all probability the only one that originated there, but haplogroups are split along the way and they go different directions. For example, the haplogroup I subclades of I2a that we find in north Europe, Sardinia, Spain and the ones that belong to South Slavs are different. So, while the other Haplogroups(E, J, G, R) found in the Balkans originated first outside of what is today Europe. @@С.Димитров-ж4л _"macedonians are closest to bulgarians..."_ That's because a large part of Bulgaria now contains Pirin within it's borders. Pirin was formerly part of Macedonia before it was annexed to Bulgaria after the 12912/1913 Balkan wars and the people residing there were the brothers of the majority of the people in the rest of Macedonia (including the part which is now within Greek borders). Much of the population has been Bulgarised now (just like the Macedonians of present-day Northern Greece have been largely hellenised) but many still retain their Macedonian identity. Also, large numbers of Macedonians studied or worked in other parts of Bulgaria prior to the Balkan wars and remained there , their descendants now identify as Bulgarians - a phenomenon common to all nations as ALL nations are social constructs. Bulgaria has a much larger Eastern Europe and West Asian genetic component than Macedonia, reflecting the large non-"Slavic" population (which has now become "Bulgarian.") Interestingly, a Bulgarian DNA study revealed that after the Macedonians, Greeks are the closest genetic cousins to the Bulgarians (and even closer to the Macedonians) so I don't know what the fuss is about. btw, you have used incorrect terminology. The closest modern population to a bronze age greek population are the Greeks from Deep mani. Italians mainly from the south (not the north) may plot close to bronze age Greek samples because modern Greeks on average have this extra slavic admixture which makes them have more hunter gatherer ancestry than southern Italians. Thus modern Greeks in general plot closer to Proto-Greeks (Logkas proto Greek sample) than the mycenean samples with very low to non Y-DNA from Indoeuropeans.
HLA alleles have been determined in individuals from the Republic of Macedonia by DNA typing and sequencing. HLA-A, -B, -DR, -DQ allele frequencies and extended haplotypes have been for the first time determined and the results compared to those of other Mediterraneans, particularly with their neighbouring Greeks. Genetic distances, neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analysis have been performed. The following conclusions have been reached: 1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum, like Iberians (including Basques), North Africans, Italians, French, Cretans, Jews, Lebanese, Turks (Anatolians), Armenians and Iranians, 2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum, 3) Greeks are found to have a substantial relatedness to sub-Saharan (Ethiopian) people, which separate them from other Mediterranean groups. Both Greeks and Ethiopians share quasi-specific DRB1 alleles, such as *0305, *0307, *0411, *0413, *0416, *0417, *0420, *1110, *1112, *1304 and *1310. Genetic distances are closer between Greeks and Ethiopian/sub-Saharan groups than to any other Mediterranean group and finally Greeks cluster with Ethiopians/sub-Saharans in both neighbour joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses. The time period when these relationships might have occurred was ancient but uncertain and might be related to the displacement of Egyptian-Ethiopian people living in pharaonic Egypt.

Actual proof that macedonians are much closer related with the ancient macedonians than the nearby nations would like to believe. Its no secret that macedonians and bulgarians are quite similar linguistically but greek populations and albanian? Lands that had a lot less mixing with the slavic people? Thus proving that geneticaly the ancient macedonians are close to modern day macedonians even with all the mixing. The same thing also happened in bulgaria, where the tatar population adopted the language of the slavs. Ancient greek writers themselves described the macedonian people as a barbaric and a non-helenic nation even not allowing them to play in the olympics untill Alexander the great conquered them. There was never a significant greek population in modern day southern macedonia up untill the great exange of populations after the greco-turkish war and the majority of that area was macedonian, which were later killed off or forced to migrate in the macedonian genocide. Nor to the 1,600,000 Christian refugees, (mostly Turks, Armenians, Laz, Georgians, etc) resettled in Greece in 1922/23 and called 'turkosporos' by the local Greeks until they decided in the past generation or so that they are now the new Macedonians.
If the Macedonians and the Greeks were the same people, then there was no need for Alexander the Great to call himself King of the Macedonians and the Greeks, but just King of the Greeks. In his five-century old book Mauro Orbini says that because the Macedonians have their own language, which didn’t just fall from the sky, it is clear that they have always spoken the same language. If that was true in 1525, when the book was written, then it is very probable that Alexander and Samoil spoke the same language. According to Orbini, Alexander, Samoil and Saint Clement would have no problem understanding each other in their mother tongue in 1525.
Thats exactly what Philip and his son Alexander did, Philip of Macedon declared himself a blue blooded Greek. In fact the ancient Macedonians proudly and forcefully declared thmselves as Greeks. Secondly the ancient Macedonians, being Greeks of course, had, after Greece was conquered by Rome, self identified, like the rest of the Greeks as Romaoi (Romans). I assume Orbini when referring to the Macedonians was referring to the Bulgarians population of Macedonia.

Stop with greek propaganda! First, the name of the people is MACEDONIAN, not "North Macedonian", secondly, the historical thesis that the Slavs (and Macedonians) came in the 6th century after Jesus Christ is completely wrong. The Slavs, and especially the Macedonians, are natives of the Balkan (Macedonian) Peninsula.
In more simple words, modern day "North Macedonians" are basically Bulgarians. So lets just call them for what they are. Bulgarians. And seriously, there is nothing wrong with that, since Bulgaria have an incredible history.
DNA results from te Forensics Medicines Institute of Skopje. Republic of North Macedonia. SKOPJE - A six-year long DNA research of the Balkan peoples conducted by Skopje Forensics Medicine Institute has showed remarkable resemblance among them. *_"The analysis of the data has showed that residents of Macedonia have the most similar DNA with Bulgarians and Serbs, Croats with Bosnian and Serbian population while Kosovo Albanians have the fewest similarities with the others,”_* says Forensics Medicine Institute’s Dr Zlatko Jakovski.
Yes, but well over 1,000,000 Macedonians live in Bulgaria, mostly in Pirin which was annexed to Bulgaria in 1913 due to the Balkan Wars, so naturally there is a strong genetic connection, duh - though we know that genetics do not determine ethnicity. Interestingly, Greece was the ONLY Balkan country which refused to participate in this Balkan-wide study. Possibly they were afraid that the results would reveal that Greeks are also genetically linked to Bulgarians as shown in a different study. Also interesting is the fact that study after study reveals that the Greek population's closely genetic cousins are all their neighbours in every direction - the Albanians Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks - which is the natural order of thing for every country. Also interesting, is that Greeks nationalists (indeed Greek policy) deny all this for some strange reason. (Well, perhaps not all that strange, when politicians write history).

Well the modern country called Republic of North Macedonia is rather mixed. 52% or a SLavic fok related to Bulgarians, 29% are Albanians, 10% are Serbs the rest are Turks and Roma (Gypsies). The region of Republic of North Macedonia is what was originally ancient Paeonia. The ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedonia of Alexander the Great is in northern Greece, and the ancient Macedonians were of Greek stock and proto-Greek speakers. DNAof the slavic speaking folk of the Republic of North Macedonia reveals that it is the same as Bulgarian with some Serbian.
Well, the modern country of "Greece" is rather mixed. Almost half are descended from the Christian Albanians (Arvanites) who lived there for centuries, and a large Slavic presence in the Peloponnese (and some islands) who "over-ran" the place, (the 'Slavs' in the north, which only recently has been part of Greece due to the spoils of war, have been there for millennia) as well as the Turks, Jews, Vlachs, Roma, Arabs and North Africans who have populated the place for centuries (not to be confused with recent arrivals.) Then, of course, we have those other recent arrivals - the 1,600,000 multi-ethnic, multi-lingual Asia Minor refugees, most of whom were settled in Northern Greece (formerly the southern part of Macedonia). Alexander the Great was a Macedonian, not a Greek and has never been referred to as a Greek in any ancient source. The DNA of the folk of the former Morea - today's Greece, reveals that it is the same as Albanians, Kosovars, Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks, and to a slightly lesser extent to the Asians of Asia Minor, the North Africans and the Middle Easterners.
@@mellake7052 Firstly Arvanites were a not Albanians. We know this because the Geographer Alfred Philippson mentions that Arvanites had names and especially adjectives that are almost exclusively Greek. Although the Arvanites spoke a dialect of Albanian their language and especially that of the Souliotes was full o Greek words, the Albanians had started mixing with the local Greeks within two generations from the time they arrived in Greece in the 14th century. The Geographer Alfred Philippson estimated the number of Arvanites in the whole of Greece in 1890 to be 10%. H.P. Korylos estimated the Arvanites in the Peloponnese at about 7% The "Handbook of Greece 1918, Naval staff-Intelligence Division", in analyzing the ethnography of Greece, Arvanites did not exceed 1/12 of the Greek population (approx 8.5%) at the time BEFORE the unification of Greece, population exchanges etc. Slavs did not seem to have had much of an impact in Greece as some have theorised. Genetics and DNA confirm that the population of the peloponnese cluster with several ITalian populations such as Abruzzo Italians, Tuscans and Sicilians, - populations which are devoid of SLavic admixture. Yes Greece has small minorities of Turks, Slavs, and Walachians from Romania, Crete certainly came under Arab occupation for a time but the Arabs were eventually ousted from Crete by the Byzantines. Yes approxomately 1,600,000 Asia Minor Greeks were expelled from the ancient Greek cities of Asia Minor by the Ottoman Turks and returned to Greece . Of course Alexander the Great was Greek, any historian will tell you that. Of course ancient sources refer to Alexander the Great and the Macedonians as Greeks speaking the Greek language. E.g. Diodorus Sicilus - The Historian As has been shown in multipl DNA studies, the Greek folk of the Peloponnese cluster with several Italian populations. Populations which are devoid of Slavic input, thus confirming that the effect of the SLavic invasion of Greece had minimal impact on the Greek population.

People of North Macedonia are Slavic, and their heritage is not connected to ancient Macedonians. European DNA is generally a mix of various genetic groups, with most people having links to hunter-gatherer or Steppe ancestry. Studies have shown that all Europeans share genetic branches or percentages of genome, which are not specific to any particular group, such as the ancient Macedonians, as this is more about cultural aspects than genetics. Inscriptions and ancient historians clearly indicate that the people of ancient Macedonia were Greek-speaking. The recent claim by some in North Macedonia that they are related to the ancient Macedonians is both absurd and ridiculous. They are a laughingstock to anyone who actually knows history. Slavic people migrated to the region where Macedonia was located during the 6th century AD, which is a 900-year gap from the era of Alexander the Great and a 1,500-year gap from the founding of Macedonia, originally called Macedon (in Greek: Μακεδνός).
You can't compare anything with Ancient Macedonian DNA because nobody has ever recovered ancient Macedonian DNA from the thousand or so ancient Macedonians graves discovered in ancient Macedonia (northern Greece) because the ancient Greek tribe of Macedonians burned their dead. Of course there are minorities in Greece of Slavs (Wallachians, Bulgarians (Pomaks, slavo-makedonskis)), Jews, Roma and Turks. Turks number aboiut 98,000
Interesting comment. What is your view on the DNA results of many North Macedonians having substantial Greek DNA? Is this a claim to the ancient people of the balkans or Greeks which were slavinised by the Bulgarian or Serbian empires?@@rafaellagaribaldi9391
@@rafaellagaribaldi9391 The ridiculous Slavic migration theory, formulated in the 19th century for geopolitical reasons, has been debunked. The comparatively recent analysis of the Cretan Linear A tablet proves that "Slavs" were amongst the earliest inhabitants. Certainly, Greeks were not. I have given plenty of evidence on your Crete post - too long to post again. So your claims and your selected outdated quotation are false. And modern Greeks are proven to be 80% plus genetically connected to Albanians and Macedonians, their two closest neighbours.
Who are this North Macedonias ? I've never heard of them??? Maybe because they don't exist...hmmmmm I've heard of Macedonians if you were referring to them.

Stop telling us who we are. Firstly, we are not North Macedonians. We are proud Macedonians, the Slavic people did not migrated to Macedonian. Macedonian language is not Bulgarian,, Macedonians are over 8 thousand years old, Bulgarians came to the region in 6th century.

@IEthereal That's correct. Although the country has been blackmailed into adding the descriptor "North" to its name (since its has been separated from the south which was annexed to Greece after the 1912/1913 Balkan wars), the so-called "agreement" stipulates that the people are still to be called Macedonians (not "North" Macedonians) and their language is still to be called the Macedonian language.

First of all correct yourself when it comes to the name of the nationallity you are talking about. It is only Macedonian, without north. Secondly you are not a geneticist to talk about DNA and origins of ethnic group. And last but not least,it was scientificaly prooven that the present day Macedonians are descendants of Ancient Macedonians by IGENEA!
I would rethink using "AI" for your images. At 3:15 it used/generated a propaganda sequence that goes against the terms of the Prespa Agreement, which is in agreement that the unrelated Slavic people of this country will stop appropriating Greek symbols and famous Greek people of Greek history.
How can they be "unrelated" when just a few generations ago, it was joined to the south of Macedonia and all the people living there spoke a Slavonic language (on which Old Church Slavonic is based) since before the days of Cyrill and Methodius. Btw, the Prespa "agreement" (blackmail) stipulates that the people are called Macedonians (NOT north Macedonians) and the language is the Macedonian. As for history, there are no particularly famous Greeks. You are confusing modern Greeks, who not so long ago called themselves Romioi (Romans), with the expired ancient Hellenes to whom they are unrelated except for residing on the same land.
@@mellake7052 Well when the ancient Greeks became Romanised after Greece was conquered by the Romans they called themselves 'Romaioi' (Romans). Just because they now self identified as Romans doesn't mean they were no longer descendants of their Hellenic ancestors. The Pella curse tablet is a text written in a distinct Doric Greek idiom, found in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedon, in 1986
Ιt contains a curse or magic spell (Ancient Greek: κατάδεσμος, katadesmos) inscribed on a lead scroll, dated to the first half of the 4th century BC (c.

1:52 "Elevating their levels of European DNA" but all these groups are European🤨
Most of their subclades for example, from Haplogroup E which first developed around N. Africa, its subclade EV-13 developed between Central and East Europe.
@@dios1ish868 A persons haplogroup is only one part of someone’s ancestry, what’s your point?
@@jbstarkiller4626 My point is that the main haplogroup like we're talking about 'I' in this case, does not qualify one's ancestry, cause along the way the haplogroup is mixed and subclades are created in different places where they've been isolated, that's why Sardinian, Scandinavian and Slavic people are different ancestry, even though they fall under the main I haplogroup. Otherwise, we all fall under the main A=Adam haplogroup, whish all these other haplogroups came out from. At least this is what we have so far with scientific genetic studies.

That's because a large part of Bulgaria now contains Pirin within it's borders.
Bulgaria has a much larger Eastern Europe and West Asian genetic component than Macedonia, reflecting the large non-"Slavic" population (which has now become "Bulgarian.")
Interestingly, a Bulgarian DNA study revealed that after the Macedonians, Greeks are the closest genetic cousins to the Bulgarians (and even closer to the Macedonians) so I don't know what the fuss is about.

Thus proving that geneticaly the ancient macedonians are close to modern day macedonians even with all the mixing.
(Well, perhaps not all that strange, when politicians write history).

the problem is you my friend, tito brainwashed all of the ethnic bularian macedonia, thats why u dont get it. have you ever seen a country macedonia on a single map before 1946?
H.P. Korylos estimated the Arvanites in the Peloponnese at about 7%
The "Handbook of Greece 1918, Naval staff-Intelligence Division", in analyzing the ethnography of Greece, Arvanites did not exceed 1/12 of the Greek population (approx 8.5%) at the time BEFORE the unification of Greece, population exchanges etc.
E.g. Diodorus Sicilus - The Historian
As has been shown in multipl DNA studies, the Greek folk of the Peloponnese cluster with several Italian populations.

"Ancient human mitochondrial genomes from Bronze Age Bulgaria: new insights into the genetic history of Thracians."
In the results on page 6 it is said:
"Along the first component (sPC1) the ancient Thracians are closely related with Central-East European populations, while along the second component (sPC2) our samples show higher resemblance with present-day Mediterranean groups."
And in the discussion on page 7:
"In accordance with their geographical location, Thracians show a genetic composition clearly intermediate between East Europe and Mediterranean, that suggests multiple admixture events and population movements occurred across what is now the modern day Bulgaria. "
So, the contribution of East and Central European genetic pools is given by the 1st principal component (which, by the way, explains most of the data variance). Author Jeremiah Ruso in the Chronicles of the Moscowians clearly says that the Russians, meaning Moscowians had the same language like the ancient Macedonians. This means that other authors spoke about similarities between ancient Macedonian and Slavic language as well. And as E. Borza states, *_"Modern slavs, both Bulgaria and Macedonian CANNOT establish a link with antiquity as the slavs entere the Balkans centurie AFTER the demise of the ancient Macedonian Kingdom"_*
Its already proven by Genetics that modern Greeks cluster genetically with several Italian populationsreflecting a common ancient Greco-Roman or Balkan-Italian heritage predating slavs. Greeks are also already proven to be 61% descendants of ancient Mycenaeans and 14% descendants of the later steppe proto-Greeks who migrated south from the proto-Greek area of north wesern Greece as Dorians arouind 1100 BC.
Maybe because they don't exist...hmmmmm
I've heard of Macedonians if you were referring to them.
Of course it should be noted that the modern scountry called Republic of North Macedonia was NEVER Macedonia. It was ancient Paeonia. Ancient Macedonia is in northern Greece

Absolute nonsense. Comprehensive research has been undertaken and books by independent archaeologists and historians have been written on this topic and they are very clear - there were NO kidnappings. The children, both Greeks and Macedonians - but mostly Macedonians - were sent away for their own safety, with the heartbroken permission of their parents who believed they would be re-united after the war, but sadly, many were not due to fascistic Greek policy.
