The real original ancient Macedonia is in northern Greece. The modern country called Republic of North Macedonia was NEVER Macedonia in it history, It was ancient Paeonia. The name Macedonia was invented for it by Marshall Tito in 1944 because he wanted to invade and annex he real ancient Macedonia in northern Greece.

North Macedonian intellectuals are fully aware that themselves and their fellow citizens are Slavs related to Bulgarians and hence unrelated to the ancient Macedonians, who were a Greek people. Only the North Macedonian ultranationalists claim - hilariously - that the North Macedonians are the “direct descendants of Alexander the Great”.
Denko Maleski, professor at the University Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, North Macedonia (International Politics and Contemporary Political Systems) and former Minister of foreign affairs of the then FYROM, said:
“The creation of the ‘Macedonian nation’, for almost half of a century, was done in a condition of single-party dictatorship [i.e: Yugoslavia’s Communist Party]. In those times, there was no difference between science and ideology, so the Macedonian historiography, unopposed by anybody, comfortably performed a selection of the historic material from which the [North]Macedonian identity was created.
There is nothing atypical here for the process of the creation of any modern nation, except when falsification from the type of substitution of the word 'Bulgarian' with the word 'Macedonian' was made.
We reach towards some fictional ethnic purity which we seek in the depths of the history and we are angry at those who dare to call us Slavs and our language and culture Slavic!
We are angry when they name us what we - if we have to define ourselves in such categories - are, showing that we are people full of complexes which are ashamed for ourselves.” (Utrinski Vesnik newspaper, Skopje,

There is no such name as North Macedonians, it is an invention from 3-4 years ago, and it cannot be taken seriously as a term. If yes we should see in some next video info about , south, west, and eastern Macedonians too, other wise north doesn't make any sense... It is an authentic people with its own culture (mixed with the surrounding ones, of course, like any other modern country). But to use a term like North Macedonians is simply frivolous. First of all : DON'T try to insult but show respect ok - there are NO north macedonians but MACEDONIANS, ( the name was forcefully changed, ok, but even in North America u don't call people north Americans but Americans u dumbas ) -look at the maps over 3000 years ago, macedonians were here before Tatars ( so called bulgarians and Hellenic Arab people so called greeks) the empire of King Philip II and his son Alexander the macedonian wasn't Hellenic Empire but Macedonian( the word greek didn't even existed back then, but helenic people,ok ) the DNA was already done in Switzerland couple year's ears ago, u r in no position to talk and tell about macedonian DNA, so to manipulate here,so people can talk - this is all propaganda like we always have so to hide the truth!! God send apostle Paul in Macedonia,( 4 times ) and Christianity started from Macedonia with the woman name Lidia, who was first Christian, first church opened by apostole Paul in her house, so show respect when you talk about macedonians, coz U going against God, ok!!

So, Iron Age North Macedonian population already contained 35% Balto-Slavic genes. No wonder then that Thracian vocabulary contains so many Balto-Slavic words. In fact, these facts corroborate Mario Alinei's hypothesis that Thracians were Balto-Slavic people. It seems that over millennia there were more migrations to the Balkans from what is now Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, aside from those from the early Middle Ages. It is so logical, isn't it?
By the way, it would be preferable to also cite the sources you used for your claims.

The Pella curse tablet is a text written in a distinct Doric Greek idiom, found in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedon, in 1986
Ιt contains a curse or magic spell (Ancient Greek: κατάδεσμος, katadesmos) inscribed on a lead scroll, dated to the first half of the 4th century BC (c. 380-350 BC).
It is held in the Archaeological Museum of Pella. It was published in the Hellenic Dialectology Journal in 1993.[2] The Pella curse tablet exhibits some of the typical Northwest Greek features,[3] as well as a cluster of unique Doric features that do not appear in other subdialects of this family (e.g. Epirote, Locrian). It represents the same or a very similar vernacular dialect that is also attested in the other Doric inscriptions from Macedonia.[4] This indicates that a Doric Greek dialect was not imported, but proper to Macedon.[5] As a result, the Pella curse tablet has been forwarded as an argument that the Ancient Macedonian language was a dialect of Northwest Greek, and one of the Doric dialects.

Is that why the Romans called them Greco Roman's citizens after they had completed their slavery contract and were actually able to purchase their freedom! Did the Romans only take in Greeks as slaves? Or was it necessary to identify the Greeks from the rest of the slaves because since they were originally from Sub Saharan Ethiopia, they just looked different from everyone else! Hmmm 🤔 interesting 🤔......

Haplogroup I is the oldest major haplogroup in Europe and in all probability the only one that originated there, but haplogroups are split along the way and they go different directions. For example, the haplogroup I subclades of I2a that we find in north Europe, Sardinia, Spain and the ones that belong to South Slavs are different. So, while the other Haplogroups(E, J, G, R) found in the Balkans originated first outside of what is today Europe. Most of their subclades for example, from Haplogroup E which first developed around N. Africa, its subclade EV-13 developed between Central and East Europe.

Otherwise, we all fall under the main A=Adam haplogroup, whish all these other haplogroups came out from. At least this is what we have so far with scientific genetic studies.

That's because a large part of Bulgaria now contains Pirin within it's borders. Pirin was formerly part of Macedonia before it was annexed to Bulgaria after the 12912/1913 Balkan wars and the people residing there were the brothers of the majority of the people in the rest of Macedonia (including the part which is now within Greek borders).
Much of the population has been Bulgarised now (just like the Macedonians of present-day Northern Greece have been largely hellenised) but many still retain their Macedonian identity. Also, large numbers of Macedonians studied or worked in other parts of Bulgaria prior to the Balkan wars and remained there , their descendants now identify as Bulgarians - a phenomenon common to all nations as ALL nations are social constructs. Bulgaria has a much larger Eastern Europe and West Asian genetic component than Macedonia, reflecting the large non-"Slavic" population (which has now become "Bulgarian.")
Interestingly, a Bulgarian DNA study revealed that after the Macedonians, Greeks are the closest genetic cousins to the Bulgarians (and even closer to the Macedonians) so I don't know what the fuss is about.

Slavic ethnic identity and its terminology were heavily politicized as they were used to support outdated 19th century territorial ambitions. Mmigration was from the south to north and not north to south.

Modern so-called "Macedonians" of the Republic of North Macedonia are essentially Bulgarians who started calling themselves "Macedonians" in a Regional/political sense in the 19th century about 120 years ago.. There is NO CONNECTION with the ancient Greek Tribe of Macedonians of Alexander the Great from ancient Macedonia in northern Greece. Secondly ancient Macedonians disappeared during Roman times, many had settled in the cities Alexander had founded from Asia Minor to Afghanistan and India, and in Alexandria in Egypt. Those few Macedonian Greeks that remained in Greece just assimilated with their fellow Greeks.

The closest modern population to a bronze age greek population are the Greeks from Deep mani. Italians mainly from the south (not the north) may plot close to bronze age Greek samples because modern Greeks on average have this extra slavic admixture which makes them have more hunter gatherer ancestry than southern Italians. Thus modern Greeks in general plot closer to Proto-Greeks (Logkas proto Greek sample) than the mycenean samples with very low to non Y-DNA from Indoeuropeans.

HLA alleles have been determined in individuals from the Republic of Macedonia by DNA typing and sequencing. HLA-A, -B, -DR, -DQ allele frequencies and extended haplotypes have been for the first time determined and the results compared to those of other Mediterraneans, particularly with their neighbouring Greeks. Genetic distances, neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analysis have been performed. The following conclusions have been reached: 1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum, like Iberians (including Basques), North Africans, Italians, French, Cretans, Jews, Lebanese, Turks (Anatolians), Armenians and Iranians, 2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum, 3) Greeks are found to have a substantial relatedness to sub-Saharan (Ethiopian) people, which separate them from other Mediterranean groups. Both Greeks and Ethiopians share quasi-specific DRB1 alleles, such as *0305, *0307, *0411, *0413, *0416, *0417, *0420, *1110, *1112, *1304 and *1310. Genetic distances are closer between Greeks and Ethiopian/sub-Saharan groups than to any other Mediterranean group and finally Greeks cluster with Ethiopians/sub-Saharans in both neighbour joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses. The time period when these relationships might have occurred was ancient but uncertain and might be related to the displacement of Egyptian-Ethiopian people living in pharaonic Egypt.

Its no secret that macedonians and bulgarians are quite similar linguistically but greek populations and albanian? Lands that had a lot less mixing with the slavic people? Thus proving that geneticaly the ancient macedonians are close to modern day macedonians even with all the mixing. The same thing also happened in bulgaria, where the tatar population adopted the language of the slavs. Ancient greek writers themselves described the macedonian people as a barbaric and a non-helenic nation even not allowing them to play in the olympics untill Alexander the great conquered them. There was never a significant greek population in modern day southern macedonia up untill the great exange of populations after the greco-turkish war and the majority of that area was macedonian, which were later killed off or forced to migrate in the macedonian genocide. Just ask the children of migrants in Lerin, Kostur, Voden what they were subject to and how they were forced to leave their identity or face consequences. There are two sides to every story, and while i dont have any hatred towards any ethnic group it is very important to understand that there are reasons why no neighbouring country would want a sovereign macedonian state.

Wrong title: 1) the video doesn't compare (ancient) Macedonian (ie: greek) DNA, but their neighbours DNA. 2) the video doesn't compare the DNA of 2.5 millions of modern Macedonians (greek) but the DNA of the so called N. Macedonians which isn't mentioned in the title but only in the video...
1:06 the true route of baltic-slavs
1:22 1) Greeks are Africans or Asians, not balkanians to be considered as Proto-balkans like the other population of their time? 2) N. Macedonians in the iron age? Completly irelevant w/ History! Even the Slavs appeared to the Balkans more than 1000 years later, and they weren't separated into various groups until this time!
1:56 Still roman balcan is considered different from the byzantine greek; still greeks don't live in the balkans!
3rd minute: how this populations' "distance" is measured? While even the modern Turkish DNA is predominantly Greek, and secondly italian and persian, it is very surprising that according to the video's data, there isn't any greek DNA to their balkan neighbours! Or the video's data aren't accurate?
2:44 Very high slavonian percentage about Albanians and Greeks! K. Triantaphylidis (School of Biology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) measures very low percentages, about x2 times the one mentioned in the video about the dodecanese greeks (2+ %). Any slavonic migration in byzantine empire was insignificant in mountainous regions only (which cannot support great populations) according to the chronics of the era. During the Ottoman era, slavonic populations were stable.

Nor to the 1,600,000 Christian refugees, (mostly Turks, Armenians, Laz, Georgians, etc) resettled in Greece in 1922/23 and called 'turkosporos' by the local Greeks until they decided in the past generation or so that they are now the new Macedonians.

If the Macedonians and the Greeks were the same people, then there was no need for Alexander the Great to call himself King of the Macedonians and the Greeks, but just King of the Greeks. In his five-century old book Mauro Orbini says that because the Macedonians have their own language, which didn’t just fall from the sky, it is clear that they have always spoken the same language.
If that was true in 1525, when the book was written, then it is very probable that Alexander and Samoil spoke the same language. According to Orbini, Alexander, Samoil and Saint Clement would have no problem understanding each other in their mother tongue in 1525.

Yes, but well over 1,000,000 Macedonians live in Bulgaria, mostly in Pirin which was annexed to Bulgaria in 1913 due to the Balkan Wars, so naturally there is a strong genetic connection, duh - though we know that genetics do not determine ethnicity.
Interestingly, Greece was the ONLY Balkan country which refused to participate in this Balkan-wide study. Possibly they were afraid that the results would reveal that Greeks are also genetically linked to Bulgarians as shown in a different study.
Also interesting is the fact that study after study reveals that the Greek population's closely genetic cousins are all their neighbours in every direction - the Albanians Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks - which is the natural order of thing for every country. Also interesting, is that Greeks nationalists (indeed Greek policy) deny all this for some strange reason. (Well, perhaps not all that strange, when politicians write history).

Almost half are descended from the Christian Albanians (Arvanites) who lived there for centuries, and a large Slavic presence in the Peloponnese (and some islands) who "over-ran" the place, (the 'Slavs' in the north, which only recently has been part of Greece due to the spoils of war, have been there for millennia) as well as the Turks, Jews, Vlachs, Roma, Arabs and North Africans who have populated the place for centuries (not to be confused with recent arrivals.) Then, of course, we have those other recent arrivals - the 1,600,000 multi-ethnic, multi-lingual Asia Minor refugees, most of whom were settled in Northern Greece (formerly the southern part of Macedonia). Alexander the Great was a Macedonian, not a Greek and has never been referred to as a Greek in any ancient source. The DNA of the folk of the former Morea - today's Greece, reveals that it is the same as Albanians, Kosovars, Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks, and to a slightly lesser extent to the Asians of Asia Minor, the North Africans and the Middle Easterners.

@@mellake7052 Firstly Arvanites were a not Albanians. We know this because the Geographer Alfred Philippson mentions that Arvanites had names and especially adjectives that are almost exclusively Greek. Although the Arvanites spoke a dialect of Albanian their language and especially that of the Souliotes was full o Greek words, the Albanians had started mixing with the local Greeks within two generations from the time they arrived in Greece in the 14th century.
The Geographer Alfred Philippson estimated the number of Arvanites in the whole of Greece in 1890 to be 10%.
H.P. Korylos estimated the Arvanites in the Peloponnese at about 7%
The "Handbook of Greece 1918, Naval staff-Intelligence Division", in analyzing the ethnography of Greece, Arvanites did not exceed 1/12 of the Greek population (approx 8.5%) at the time BEFORE the unification of Greece, population exchanges etc.
Slavs did not seem to have had much of an impact in Greece as some have theorised. Genetics and DNA confirm that the population of the peloponnese cluster with several ITalian populations such as Abruzzo Italians, Tuscans and Sicilians, - populations which are devoid of SLavic admixture.
Yes Greece has small minorities of Turks, Slavs, and Walachians from Romania, Crete certainly came under Arab occupation for a time but the Arabs were eventually ousted from Crete by the Byzantines.
Yes approxomately 1,600,000 Asia Minor Greeks were expelled from the ancient Greek cities of Asia Minor by the Ottoman Turks and returned to Greece .
Of course Alexander the Great was Greek, any historian will tell you that.
Of course ancient sources refer to Alexander the Great and the Macedonians as Greeks speaking the Greek language. E.g. Diodorus Sicilus - The Historian
As has been shown in multipl DNA studies, the Greek folk of the Peloponnese cluster with several Italian populations. Populations which are devoid of Slavic input, thus confirming that the effect of the SLavic invasion of Greece had minimal impact on the Greek population.

People of North Macedonia are Slavic, and their heritage is not connected to ancient Macedonians. European DNA is generally a mix of various genetic groups, with most people having links to hunter-gatherer or Steppe ancestry. Studies have shown that all Europeans share genetic branches or percentages of genome, which are not specific to any particular group, such as the ancient Macedonians, as this is more about cultural aspects than genetics. Inscriptions and ancient historians clearly indicate that the people of ancient Macedonia were Greek-speaking.
The recent claim by some in North Macedonia that they are related to the ancient Macedonians is both absurd and ridiculous. They are a laughingstock to anyone who actually knows history. Slavic people migrated to the region where Macedonia was located during the 6th century AD, which is a 900-year gap from the era of Alexander the Great and a 1,500-year gap from the founding of Macedonia, originally called Macedon (in Greek: Μακεδνός).

"Along the first component (sPC1) the ancient Thracians are closely related with Central-East European populations, while along the second component (sPC2) our samples show higher resemblance with present-day Mediterranean groups."
And in the discussion on page 7:
"In accordance with their geographical location, Thracians show a genetic composition clearly intermediate between East Europe and Mediterranean, that suggests multiple admixture events and population movements occurred across what is now the modern day Bulgaria. "
So, the contribution of East and Central European genetic pools is given by the 1st principal component (which, by the way, explains most of the data variance). This is in a full accordance with the linguistic theory of Mario Alinei and Collin Renfrew that Thracians were proto-Balto-Slavic speakers.

MACEDONIANS WERE HERE FROM ALL TIMES
“The Kingdom of the Slavs” by the Italian historian Mauro Orbini.
“Macedonians are Slavs”. According to Mauro Orbini and all the others he quotes, on the territory of Macedonia, Macedonians are Slavs and the Slavs are Macedonians, this means that Orbini leaves a mark of unity between the Macedonians and Slavs.
Author Jeremiah Ruso in the Chronicles of the Moscowians clearly says that the Russians, meaning Moscowians had the same language like the ancient Macedonians. This means that other authors spoke about similarities between ancient Macedonian and Slavic language as well. This approves the theory that on these Macedonian spaces and wider, the Slaves didn’t come from anywhere, but they had always been here, they just used different names and that in that „Slavic sea“ of VI and VII century, according to some sources, from the Karpaties the last waves of Slavs in Macedonia came and united with natives

Yes in the 15th century, Bulgarian Slavs had already been settled in the northern regions of Macedonia since the 7th century AD, thus Macedonia became part of the Bulgarian Empire, the Romanised Greeks of Macedonia (Romaoi) were pushed southwards. So Oribini was correct, he was referring to the Bulgariansof Macedonia. There is absolutely NO CONNECTION with the ancient Greek tribe of Macedonians - the people of Alexander the Great.

And as E. Borza states, *_"Modern slavs, both Bulgaria and Macedonian CANNOT establish a link with antiquity as the slavs entere the Balkans centurie AFTER the demise of the ancient Macedonian Kingdom"_*
Its already proven by Genetics that modern Greeks cluster genetically with several Italian populationsreflecting a common ancient Greco-Roman or Balkan-Italian heritage predating slavs. Greeks are also already proven to be 61% descendants of ancient Mycenaeans and 14% descendants of the later steppe proto-Greeks who migrated south from the proto-Greek area of north wesern Greece as Dorians arouind 1100 BC.

@@dilyandaynovskiI don't know who u are or where u come from. u can talk all you want but everybody knows the macedonia today is smaller than what it once was. Not only bc of many empires that has ruled the land but more recently. Macedonians are being forgotten outside of todays borders. only in albania alone, more than 200 000 macedonians live in was once Macedonia. Can u imagine how many are in todays bulgaria or greece. The countries that signed bucharest treaty in 1913 to split Macedonia to themselves. Look at Aegan Macedonia how big it is, Pirin. What comes with that? Stealing land but more importantly try to remove Macedonian people from existing. Treat them like slaves if they don't call themselves bulgarians or greeks. Change their names, change city names to their language. There is no secret what bucharest treaty was taking place after ottomans left the balkans. Now saying Macedonians apparently whatt u say are bulgarians or identify as them. Who said that to you? have u asked them? have u asked the macedonians now outside their countries borders. Many people like u believe that as they seek bulgarian passports, they pay for them so that they can have a job called truck driver. It has been very common that they get bulgarian passport to work inside EU. Not because they identify as bulgarian

      1. Improve your English, cause it is barely understandable
      2. Learn history, I mean try, even just for fun to read something that does not come from serbian ( yogoslavian ) or macedonian sources. Maybe the truth is bigger and different than you think
      3. Read again what I wrote in my first comment and check it please, try really to answer the questions to yourself

You affirm then that the population is Slavic closely related to the Bulgarians. You also say that there are some admixtures. This obviously is due to the co mmun i s t s of Greece who s t o l e 48k children and f led there. You also affirm that the Slavic population is closest in DNA to Bulgarians, and does not have connections to the ancient Macedonians who were Greeks making the use of the Greek name to describe this population living on land north of historical Macedonia in Greece, political p a w n s.

Absolute nonsense. Comprehensive research has been undertaken and books by independent archaeologists and historians have been written on this topic and they are very clear - there were NO kidnappings. The children, both Greeks and Macedonians - but mostly Macedonians - were sent away for their own safety, with the heartbroken permission of their parents who believed they would be re-united after the war, but sadly, many were not due to fascistic Greek policy. You talk about education but it seems your education is based on greco propaganda. If you believe in the fabricated 'kidnappings', you believe in unicorns.
