I have to note that every known Macedonian name (from ancient history) is Greek. That was a surprise for me and many of my fellow students in the university of Kyoto.I quote: ΦΙΛΩ+ΙΠΠΟΣ, ΑΛΕΞΩ+ΑΝΗΡ etc.

I found one paper published in Nature-Scientific Reports from 2019:
"Ancient human mitochondrial genomes from Bronze Age Bulgaria: new insights into the genetic history of Thracians."
In the results on page 6 it is said:
"Along the first component (sPC1) the ancient Thracians are closely related with Central-East European populations, while along the second component (sPC2) our samples show higher resemblance with present-day Mediterranean groups."
And in the discussion on page 7:
"In accordance with their geographical location, Thracians show a genetic composition clearly intermediate between East Europe and Mediterranean, that suggests multiple admixture events and population movements occurred across what is now the modern day Bulgaria. "
So, the contribution of East and Central European genetic pools is given by the 1st principal component (which, by the way, explains most of the data variance). This is in a full accordance with the linguistic theory of Mario Alinei and Collin Renfrew that Thracians were proto-Balto-Slavic speakers.

If yes we should see in some next video info about , south, west, and eastern Macedonians too, other wise north doesn't make any sense... So, Iron Age North Macedonian population already contained 35% Balto-Slavic genes. No wonder then that Thracian vocabulary contains so many Balto-Slavic words. In fact, these facts corroborate Mario Alinei's hypothesis that Thracians were Balto-Slavic people. It seems that over millennia there were more migrations to the Balkans from what is now Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, aside from those from the early Middle Ages. It is so logical, isn't it?
By the way, it would be preferable to also cite the sources you used for your claims.

      Very Hellenic.
The first inhabitants in the Dodecanese history are said to be the Telchines and Iliads. Much later the Cares and Achaies arrived and according to Homer, they took part in the Trojan War. After the fall of Troy, the monarchy was no longer established and this brought many intermarriages with the Dorians. Those Greek islands are known since the Greek antiquity and no civilization has ever questioned their Greek origin. The Greeks inhabit the Dodecanese in the 14th century and up to this day, excavations have brought to light 18 settlements of Achaia on 8 islands of Dodecanese complex and other Mycenean findings of exceptional value.

I thought that everyone knows that the term "Macedonia", (a Greek word) is a geographical term for a region devided nowadays between former Yugoslavia, Greece and Bulgaria. I remember from my studies in linguistics (in the university of Kyoto, Japan) that the language of the ancient Macedonia was a northern Greek dialect. I' m not familiar with the modern language in that part of Macedonia (the part of the former Yugoslavian Democracy), but I' sure (looking the map) that in the biggest part that belongs to Greece, the language is Greek, and in the north-northeast part is the Bulgarian language.

This migration fairytale pertains that: "a tribe," which was unrecorded before the 6th century, "appeared from behind the Carpathian Mountains" to become the largest ethno-linguistic group in Europe "replacing all the previous recorded populations." Slavic ethnic identity and its terminology were heavily politicized as they were used to support outdated 19th century territorial ambitions. Mmigration was from the south to north and not north to south.
This fairy tale was invented by the West, especially the Germans. The Slavs were in the Balkans at the same time (but they was known under different names as Veneti), if not before Helen (with whom the new so-called Greeks have nothing to do)

Haplogroup I is the oldest major haplogroup in Europe and in all probability the only one that originated there, but haplogroups are split along the way and they go different directions. For example, the haplogroup I subclades of I2a that we find in north Europe, Sardinia, Spain and the ones that belong to South Slavs are different. So, while the other Haplogroups(E, J, G, R) found in the Balkans originated first outside of what is today Europe. Most of their subclades for example, from Haplogroup E which first developed around N. Africa, its subclade EV-13 developed between Central and East Europe.

The closest modern population to a bronze age greek population are the Greeks from Deep mani. Italians mainly from the south (not the north) may plot close to bronze age Greek samples because modern Greeks on average have this extra slavic admixture which makes them have more hunter gatherer ancestry than southern Italians. Thus modern Greeks in general plot closer to Proto-Greeks (Logkas proto Greek sample) than the mycenean samples with very low to non Y-DNA from Indoeuropeans.

HLA alleles have been determined in individuals from the Republic of Macedonia by DNA typing and sequencing. HLA-A, -B, -DR, -DQ allele frequencies and extended haplotypes have been for the first time determined and the results compared to those of other Mediterraneans, particularly with their neighbouring Greeks. Genetic distances, neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analysis have been performed. The following conclusions have been reached: 1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum, like Iberians (including Basques), North Africans, Italians, French, Cretans, Jews, Lebanese, Turks (Anatolians), Armenians and Iranians, 2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum, 3) Greeks are found to have a substantial relatedness to sub-Saharan (Ethiopian) people, which separate them from other Mediterranean groups. Both Greeks and Ethiopians share quasi-specific DRB1 alleles, such as *0305, *0307, *0411, *0413, *0416, *0417, *0420, *1110, *1112, *1304 and *1310. Genetic distances are closer between Greeks and Ethiopian/sub-Saharan groups than to any other Mediterranean group and finally Greeks cluster with Ethiopians/sub-Saharans in both neighbour joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses. The time period when these relationships might have occurred was ancient but uncertain and might be related to the displacement of Egyptian-Ethiopian people living in pharaonic Egypt.

If the Macedonians and the Greeks were the same people, then there was no need for Alexander the Great to call himself King of the Macedonians and the Greeks, but just King of the Greeks. In his five-century old book Mauro Orbini says that because the Macedonians have their own language, which didn’t just fall from the sky, it is clear that they have always spoken the same language.
If that was true in 1525, when the book was written, then it is very probable that Alexander and Samoil spoke the same language. According to Orbini, Alexander, Samoil and Saint Clement would have no problem understanding each other in their mother tongue in 1525.

In fact, it is ahead, overall, and even beating Ukraine which is in the middle of a war. It’s easy to find. Look it up yourself on World Population Review -Countries with declining population 2024.

That's because a large part of Bulgaria now contains Pirin within it's borders. Pirin was formerly part of Macedonia before it was annexed to Bulgaria after the 12912/1913 Balkan wars and the people residing there were the brothers of the majority of the people in the rest of Macedonia (including the part which is now within Greek borders).
Much of the population has been Bulgarised now (just like the Macedonians of present-day Northern Greece have been largely hellenised) but many still retain their Macedonian identity. Also, large numbers of Macedonians studied or worked in other parts of Bulgaria prior to the Balkan wars and remained there , their descendants now identify as Bulgarians - a phenomenon common to all nations as ALL nations are social constructs. Bulgaria has a much larger Eastern Europe and West Asian genetic component than Macedonia, reflecting the large non-"Slavic" population (which has now become "Bulgarian.")
Interestingly, a Bulgarian DNA study revealed that after the Macedonians, Greeks are the closest genetic cousins to the Bulgarians (and even closer to the Macedonians) so I don't know what the fuss is about.

Yes, but well over 1,000,000 Macedonians live in Bulgaria, mostly in Pirin which was annexed to Bulgaria in 1913 due to the Balkan Wars, so naturally there is a strong genetic connection, duh - though we know that genetics do not determine ethnicity.
Interestingly, Greece was the ONLY Balkan country which refused to participate in this Balkan-wide study. Possibly they were afraid that the results would reveal that Greeks are also genetically linked to Bulgarians as shown in a different study.
Also interesting is the fact that study after study reveals that the Greek population's closely genetic cousins are all their neighbours in every direction - the Albanians Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks - which is the natural order of thing for every country. Also interesting, is that Greeks nationalists (indeed Greek policy) deny all this for some strange reason. (Well, perhaps not all that strange, when politicians write history).

Modern so-called "Macedonians" of the Republic of North Macedonia are essentially Bulgarians who started calling themselves "Macedonians" in a Regional/political sense in the 19th century about 120 years ago.. There is NO CONNECTION with the ancient Greek Tribe of Macedonians of Alexander the Great from ancient Macedonia in northern Greece. Secondly ancient Macedonians disappeared during Roman times, many had settled in the cities Alexander had founded from Asia Minor to Afghanistan and India, and in Alexandria in Egypt. That's how you turn the whole historical picture upside down because it's in your Asian blood. i To claim that the Slavs speak some Bulgarian dialect is the height of world stupidity. N.Y.T....The center of Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, a Balkan country born just 33 years ago as an independent state, is awash in history.
A statue of Alexander the Great looms over the central square. One of his father, Philip II of Macedon, towers above a nearby piazza atop an oversize pedestal. The city is also littered with tributes in bronze, stone and plaster to generations of other heroes from what the country sees as its glorious and very long history.very long history.
The problem, though, is that most of the history on display is claimed by other countries. Present-day North Macedonia, birthed by the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, has no real connection to Alexander the Great, who lived 2,000 years ago down the road in what is now Greece, and many of the other historical figures honored with statues are Bulgarian.⁶Slavica Babamova, the director of the national archaeological museum, has spent her career digging up and displaying ancient artifacts and has no problem focusing on the past. But she said she was unsettled by the plethora of statues, erected by her country in an effort to build a state and national identity.identity.
“We have such a rich history of our own - and so many things to say. But I don’t see any need to push all this overdone marketing,” she said, gesturing toward the Alexander the Great statue during an interview.
More important for North Macedonia and indisputably part of its history, she added, are the golden funeral mask and other stunning artifacts that predate Alexander and were found in an ancient necropolis near the village of Trebenishte in North Macedonia.

MACEDONIANS WERE HERE FROM ALL TIMES
“The Kingdom of the Slavs” by the Italian historian Mauro Orbini.
“Macedonians are Slavs”. According to Mauro Orbini and all the others he quotes, on the territory of Macedonia, Macedonians are Slavs and the Slavs are Macedonians, this means that Orbini leaves a mark of unity between the Macedonians and Slavs.
Author Jeremiah Ruso in the Chronicles of the Moscowians clearly says that the Russians, meaning Moscowians had the same language like the ancient Macedonians. This means that other authors spoke about similarities between ancient Macedonian and Slavic language as well. This approves the theory that on these Macedonian spaces and wider, the Slaves didn’t come from anywhere, but they had always been here, they just used different names and that in that „Slavic sea“ of VI and VII century, according to some sources, from the Karpaties the last waves of Slavs in Macedonia came and united with natives

Yes in the 15th century, Bulgarian Slavs had already been settled in the northern regions of Macedonia since the 7th century AD, thus Macedonia became part of the Bulgarian Empire, the Romanised Greeks of Macedonia (Romaoi) were pushed southwards. Well, the modern country of "Greece" is rather mixed. Almost half are descended from the Christian Albanians (Arvanites) who lived there for centuries, and a large Slavic presence in the Peloponnese (and some islands) who "over-ran" the place, (the 'Slavs' in the north, which only recently has been part of Greece due to the spoils of war, have been there for millennia) as well as the Turks, Jews, Vlachs, Roma, Arabs and North Africans who have populated the place for centuries (not to be confused with recent arrivals.) Then, of course, we have those other recent arrivals - the 1,600,000 multi-ethnic, multi-lingual Asia Minor refugees, most of whom were settled in Northern Greece (formerly the southern part of Macedonia). Alexander the Great was a Macedonian, not a Greek and has never been referred to as a Greek in any ancient source. The DNA of the folk of the former Morea - today's Greece, reveals that it is the same as Albanians, Kosovars, Macedonians, Bulgarians and Turks, and to a slightly lesser extent to the Asians of Asia Minor, the North Africans and the Middle Easterners.

@@mellake7052 Firstly Arvanites were a not Albanians. We know this because the Geographer Alfred Philippson mentions that Arvanites had names and especially adjectives that are almost exclusively Greek. Although the Arvanites spoke a dialect of Albanian their language and especially that of the Souliotes was full o Greek words, the Albanians had started mixing with the local Greeks within two generations from the time they arrived in Greece in the 14th century.
The Geographer Alfred Philippson estimated the number of Arvanites in the whole of Greece in 1890 to be 10%.
H.P. Korylos estimated the Arvanites in the Peloponnese at about 7%
The "Handbook of Greece 1918, Naval staff-Intelligence Division", in analyzing the ethnography of Greece, Arvanites did not exceed 1/12 of the Greek population (approx 8.5%) at the time BEFORE the unification of Greece, population exchanges etc.
Slavs did not seem to have had much of an impact in Greece as some have theorised. Genetics and DNA confirm that the population of the peloponnese cluster with several ITalian populations such as Abruzzo Italians, Tuscans and Sicilians, - populations which are devoid of SLavic admixture.
Yes Greece has small minorities of Turks, Slavs, and Walachians from Romania, Crete certainly came under Arab occupation for a time but the Arabs were eventually ousted from Crete by the Byzantines.
Yes approxomately 1,600,000 Asia Minor Greeks were expelled from the ancient Greek cities of Asia Minor by the Ottoman Turks and returned to Greece .
Of course Alexander the Great was Greek, any historian will tell you that.
Of course ancient sources refer to Alexander the Great and the Macedonians as Greeks speaking the Greek language. E.g. Diodorus Sicilus - The Historian
As has been shown in multipl DNA studies, the Greek folk of the Peloponnese cluster with several Italian populations. Populations which are devoid of Slavic input, thus confirming that the effect of the SLavic invasion of Greece had minimal impact on the Greek population.

Its no secret that macedonians and bulgarians are quite similar linguistically but greek populations and albanian? Lands that had a lot less mixing with the slavic people? Thus proving that geneticaly the ancient macedonians are close to modern day macedonians even with all the mixing. The same thing also happened in bulgaria, where the tatar population adopted the language of the slavs. Ancient greek writers themselves described the macedonian people as a barbaric and a non-helenic nation even not allowing them to play in the olympics untill Alexander the great conquered them. There was never a significant greek population in modern day southern macedonia up untill the great exange of populations after the greco-turkish war and the majority of that area was macedonian, which were later killed off or forced to migrate in the macedonian genocide. Just ask the children of migrants in Lerin, Kostur, Voden what they were subject to and how they were forced to leave their identity or face consequences. There are two sides to every story, and while i dont have any hatred towards any ethnic group it is very important to understand that there are reasons why no neighbouring country would want a sovereign macedonian state.
