At first I was exceptic, but wow, this remix is absolute genius, indeed takes the 80s feel, removing the obvious 90s trademark sound and adding more an italo disco sound. Gorgeous.
My favourite thing about this is that it replicates the sound of old Tracker software in the MOD format, especially with the funky high hat and low-fi sample quality. Trackers were old music software that combined a recorded audio sample with programmed MIDI commands to create a song from a relatively small file, much smaller than an MP3, way before MP3 even existed. The original Tracker versions were limited to 4 samples playing at once, so composers had to get creative with instrumentation, resulting in some funky percussion beats as composers tried to cram a kick drum, snare and high hat into the one channel to leave the other 3 channels available for other instruments. This cover has instant memories of nights patiently loading a MOD off a floppy disk into ScreamTracker and being amazed that my old Amiga could produce such awesome music. To Abel State, well done, top shelf.
