I don't think anyone could be blamed for not catching that Versa center pillar trim on the first go. Also, I tend to think that the mentality of automatically considering supplements a failure comes from the insurance companies. Time spent trying to get every last clip, etc. increases exponentially once you have 99% of the estimate correct. It's actually much more time efficient to document the few remaining items and supplement for them than it is to ferret every last one of them out before repairs begin. BUT, I do definitely agree that an estimate should be written as accurately as possible, within reason. What does a lot to increase efficiency is to train techs to assist in the supplement process, and have an accurate accounting of all the items needed to complete the vehicle ASAP, hopefully right when all teardown/R&I is complete.
