  • Georgian style, is named after the four English monarchs who ruled Great Britain from 1714 through 1830.
This style became popular in England and Colonial America throughout the majority of the 18th century, well into the early 19th century.
This was a period of increasing wealth for the American colonists as their homes became bigger and more comfortable. And they looked to England for style inspiration.
If you like the elegance of Georgian, then these are the details you will need to focus on.

I love the English Country House and Georgian is my favorite period. Especially the late, Neoclassical period of Robert Adam.

My absolute favorite era - such elegance - beauty without stuffiness or overwhelming grandeur. When we bought an 1820 house in London I had the time of my life researching all about the old house in the history I found in the local library; painting the remaining few paneled rooms & staircase walls in Georgian blues, and discovering the ancient basement with a huge old fireplace with iron hooks - it had been the kitchen of course in Georgian times. We only stayed 2 years, but it remains such a wonderful experience in my life I will always love that old house !

Georgian architecture and furniture have been my very favorites ever since I first saw them in an old encyclopedia volume when I 11. After all of the dark paneling and heavy furniture of the Tudor and Jacobean eras it was such a breath of fresh air! The lines are simple but elegant. I don’t understand how people in the 19th century could embrace the dark, heavy, cluttered look of the Victorian era after having enjoyed such beauty for over a century. It makes no sense!

We live in a 1769 Colonial so really enjoyed watching this video. The later 18th c. period is my favorite - they really got it right back then!

Excellent descriptions. This is my favorite era of architecture and design. Most of my furniture is of Georgian design.

Too short! I learned this era was when “Elements of Chinoiserie” were introduced. My dining room and living room are both furnished with Georgian style furniture. I recently bought a Chinoiserie inspired china cabinet and was concerned it might be totally wrong but as the saying goes, buy what you like, so I did. Likewise the drapes I’m having made have little Pagodas and other items typical of China. Good to know I’m on the right track. Thank you for a marvelous video!

The AI voiceover is terrible. Annoying. Couldn't you read the script yourself? Or have a friend or family member do it?
