Yes, every time Dan does a cover I get really excited because I know it's going to be the best cover and, almost always, better than the original. Because his voice is beautiful and has a great vocal range and an incomparable interpretation!!! Dan nailed again...he's unstoppable!!! Sir Brian May announced the release of a Queen song record 50 years ago called The Night Comes Down. It was there first ever track as Queen. If I understand right it was never released until now. I just realized I got so excited about the livestream today I forgot to comment! I love SaturDanDay. It had been a while since I listened to this cover from Dan, and there were some things I had forgotten about it, so it was 'almost' like seeing it for the first time. Like you, I'm a longtime fan of Queen, and Dan did a great job on this one. As you said, he remained true to the original but still made it his own. Just Dan doing Dan things. Love it. Did not get to watch it live... my son and the kids were here. The insurance company has not made their home livable yet the fire was over a month ago... and told them last night that they would have to find somewhere to go, they would no longer be paying for them to stay in hotel... so we were bringing a bunch of their stuff in to my little apartment. I agree. There is no substitute for Freddie Mercury. However, if there was a musician who could do Mercury justice without trying to do an imitation, it would be Dan Vasc. Musically his covers are very similar but vocally he has a darker quality. Grittier, more rasp and a bit more punch to his vocals. And I find I enjoy his take on them. He knows who he is and doesn't try to be someone else. That is a quality to appreciate. Great reaction. Hail Vasc-Nation ❤️🤘✝️

Brian May brought Anita Dobson (they were dating at the time) to a concert… and she made the remark that she wanted it all and she wanted it now. She was totally entranced with what the band was doing and how they were doing it. And Brian turned it into a song that Freddie ran with. And Dan did a great job putting his own spin on that as well. Adam Lambert was an excellent pick to front Queen. Saw him on American Idol. But Daniel, he is great. Love his cover. But, nobody is better than Freddie Mercury. He was one of a kind.

Since you are critical of queen covers, there is an individual Freddie tribute artist you may want to check out. His name is Marc Martell, and his version of Bohemian Rhapsody should probably be on your bucket list. Hey, in Wisconsin we know cheesy, and your ambition is the opposite of cheesy. It is admirable!
Oh but I know Marc well. He gets very very close to Freddie but is slightly more clean and cautious. Freddie has a rawness that Marc barely missed to catch. But yes, I enjoy him as well. His audition was spot on!
when I look at these covers I feel like I'm making a fool of myself. It's nice to see how much a person cares about a figure like a singer, but when they get into singing and imitating Freddie Mercury the gulf between the cover and the original is absolutely obvious.

It is no longer just about Freddie. Without the rest of the band Freddie would not be as respected as he is today. Was he an amazing vocalist? Yes! One of a kind. But Queen is more than Freddie. Now as a separate note, Freddie could not have done all the parts the way Dan does. I am not saying Dan is better than Freddie,but different voices can do different things. Sometimes we put people on pedestals and refuse to see anything less than perfection. Without the band supporting Freddie, this song would be what it is. Just a perspective from someone who has seen Queen live over the decades.
