- 2013- A year in review of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner at KPAE Paine Field in Everett, WA USA.
Some have asked me to do a compilation video and here it is. Half of it is new footage, and others are clips taken out of my previous videos to showcase nearly each airline that has taken delivery of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2013.
If you are new to my channel, here's what you've been missing!!!
The most beautiful plane ever made
Nah, the 757, it is pretty nice though
@@philwoods2255opinions
I'm really surprised by how much noise the RAT makes.
Emmet The 787 isn't a RAT. You mean the A350.
He is talking about the Ram Air Turbine.
it sounds like a turboprop plane
0:16
That's called a "Ram Air Turbine", or RAT, which makes for quite an odd sound from a jet...
These are presumably from flight tests at the Boeing factory in Everett, only because it's the only way I can make sense of seeing so many landings with the RAT deployed.
These RATs provide necessary power for hydraulics or electrical depending on what it drives, and usually If there's some sort of failure.
I wondered why the JAL 787 had it's RAT deployed....usually that is deployed when the plane is in some trouble.
@@stephenbrown7545 Lot polish also🤔
jetstar also?🤔
It was cool seeing the auxiliary turbine under the second Japan Airlines Dreamliner. I wasn't aware that it could be used in powered flight. I can see it under the Norwegian aircraft too. Great footage and sound
The most beautiful plane ever made, this is my generation's queen of the skies
Another stunning video love the BA 787
You're certainly in a good location to film aircraft! Nice mix of aircraft liveries!
Just love this bird. Instant like
The china southern livery is beautiful! But my fav is the Thomson, Norwegian and then Jetstar ;) fantastic video! :D
No plane looks more awesome than the China Southern 788 after rotating with those painted wings!
what is that down the 787 its like fan
I believe it is a power generator.
It`s a RAT (ram air turbine), it works like a small power generator. When there`s no power in plane basic systems can get powered by this small fan. In Everett pilots are testing it before giving plane to customer.
Da`Man is it supposed to spin even during flights? that's cool!
noob168 The turbine only deploys when there are electrical failures
I love how the 787s look.
Outstanding! Thanks from NY
i like that aerobatic aircraft sound when this small propeller is extended
That Ram Air Turbine looks really cool!
Awesome video men! liked! and Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to you also! Thanks for watching and commenting on my videos this year :)
If you notice on some of the planes there is a little turbine behind the right rear landing gear...... that explains the sound, but why is it out only on some of the aircraft?
Awesome!
Great video, liked ;)
I'm surprised nobody has asked why the RAT is down for most of these landings. I've searched through the very many comments below but nobody seems to have picked up on this. Also, is this Gibraltar Airport or Kai Tak? Another question as well, why is the RAT is extended for most of these landings?
This is at Everett airfield KPAE
John Solomons As the other guy said, this is at the boeing field, so those are all, or most of them i guess, testflights made by boeing before delivery.
StargateAt77 WHOOSH :D
How did you think this was Gibraltar or Kai Tak?!
Páll Viðar Hafsteinsson Sorry ignore me I was taking the piss out of the comments on here. About 580 people have asked why the RAT is down/what is the fan?/etc, people just post questions without reading first, over and over again. I think someone also asked a daft question about the location.
Is it just me or are do both engines seems far in front of the wings as opposed to their usual position underneath the wings?
I wonder at which airports it was filmed ?
Interesting to see that British Airways has painted the 787 nacelles blue to match the rest of the airplane livery. I thought that the nacelles were not supposed to be painted. IIRC, it had something to do with aerodynamics.
What's that little noisy propeller at the bottom of the fuselage?
You forgot the Vietnam Airlines' 787... it has the most beautiful livery
That ram turbine is the first I've ever seen deployed like that during landings I'm glade they test once a yr makes me feel safer now looks like they should test them on every plane that has one meaning all 777 747 767
from 2:42 - 3:18 the JAL 787 had a windmill like prop spinning under the plane, by the right side landing gear. what is that?
and why are the planes sounding like small prop planes as they pass by?
Do all these 787's land with the RAT deployed? If so, why?
if cathay pacific and dragonair had these planes, i would be so happy :D
why the helice is open at 3:20 ?
Pourquoi l helice est sortie a 3 : 20 ?
3:04 why is the emergency terbine down?
What is this little thing at 2:45 ?
What is that lil propeller on the bottom ? Anyone?
excellent
hugs
I wish this was my private jet
What is the little propeller for?
A ram air turbine (RAT, or/similar to air driven generators) is a small turbine that is connected to a hydraulic pump, or electric generator, installed in an aircraft and used as a power source. The RAT generates power from the airstream by ram pressure due to the speed of the aircraft.
what are the little propellers under the planes on japan airline nd china one?
RAT propellers they supply extra power and keep the hydrolic fluid moving if needed
This is taken at the building facility so there testing the RAT
where was this filmed
Try to read the description
LAN Chile?
What's the story on the Japan airlines landing with the emergency propeller extended?
read the other comments about ram air turbine...
They have to test it
That RAT is hilarious. Sounds so stupid! But it's such an important function!
The Second 787 has deployed the RAT.
LOL, is true. And some others too.
It is way easier to count how many have NOT deployed the RAT system.
But Why deployed RAT when landing?
Chang-Woo Rhee Testing.
Which livery of the 787 do you prefer? :)
I like the American Airlines livery, the British Airways livery and/or the Virgin Atlantic livery. :)
Out of the B787s in the video, I prefer the Thomson livery! But my all time favourite livery on the Dreamliner is a tie between VS and AC! :)
Thomson is the most distinctive
I liked the ANA, and the Boeing House Colors.
hongrand I like Air China
I wonder how many 787s boeing manufactured so far.
+Christian Benn Around 350 as of January 2016.
Wow those people at boeing sure worked fast in building those planes next in the production line is the 777X.
Japan airlines 787-8 has been going 3 times
B787-10. B787-9 B787-8. 👌
If the ram air turbine is out something must've happened
i believed that RAT is used only in emergency, why would they use it while landing, when both engines working, thats make no sense,
Testing it
Is delta getting a 787
Yep but not until 2020
Lmao the RATs make a Cessna sound
Why they have their RAT deployed?
Kenyan and Ethopian Missing. They have great liveries
Sehr schön!ich mache auch Videos in Frankfurt
Gruß
Why does it sound like a propeller airplane is passing by? Lol
Because they have their "ram air turbines" deployed for testing
Sounds like a Bi-Plane!
People calm down the rat is being tested
it sounds like a bee :D BZzZZzZ
I hope its only a temporary thing cos those planes with the RAT deployed sound crap.. like a Cessna..
Sounds like a piper cub making a banking turn at the end of a dive, or a sawmill. I have never seen one deployed
+Alex P . The big question is why it was deployed to so many planes?
I think it had something to do with easing the load on the lithium batteries as a fire preventative.. till a proper fix was established. Again thats only a theory.. as some have the RAT deployed and others dont which may point to differences in the individual airliners configuration.
I read somewhere that the solution is not proper one. The battery could catch fire again in the future.
Nice..
That... Was... AMAZING! Spectacular captures and stunning video, really shows how much Paine Field is really 787 Heaven, and how awesome its local spotter is ;) Merry Christmas man!
4:45 what the heck is that at the lower base of the plane
That little fan below the fuselage of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner Ram Air Turbine (RAT). It is connected to a hydraulic pump, or electrical generator, installed in an aircraft and used as a power source. The RAT generates power from the air stream by ram pressure due to the speed of the aircraft.
TESTING NEW AIRCRAFTS BEFORE DELIVERY... STOP ASKING FOR THE SMALL PROPELLER UNDER THE FUSELAGE... THEY ARE TESTING IT... PLEASE READ A FEW COMMENTS BEFORE, IT START TO BE REDUNDANT!
Thank you and have a nice day :)
Really i liked this word redundant
Chill out Homey.
Wow, that air turbine is loud!!!!
I think the Ram air turbine was deployed during the period of battery failure, they were grounded in the US And i believe other countries were cautious and included it as part of the operating procedures as a precaution in case of battery failure.
I love the wings on this bird. Boeing, despite them being late with it, did a great job on this aircraft. Fuel economy, interior, noise reduction, aerodynamics.....everything is spectacular
Na maioria dos pousos do Dreamliner a turbina RAM estava extendida.
Can you do 787-9 videos into one?
RATs used as a last measure of power supply, this is usually when APU fails. So they deploy RAT to feed crucial avionics and flight control elements.
Since all those RAT's are deployed, is it possible those planes are only using RAT power for their hydraulics? Not sure if there's a way to turn off power from the engines. Or maybe they did a mid air relight?
WooW amazing video mate!! I love this plane so also this compilation!! Great catches!! Well done, liked!!
That is the first LOT Polish Airlines plane I have ever seen. Very cool !
in 6:02 there is a small little R/C plane in the background behind Hainan Airlines
James FooMahHan lol
Why are the Ram Air Turbines all extended on each one of them?
I thought a motorcycle was passing by, until I heard that buzz a second time (I think we all know which sound I'm referring to).
Ram Air Turbine R.A.T
Are dream-liners always required to drop their RAT when landing?
Great Video! I am taking a visit to Seattle to visit one of the Aviation Museums and realized that I should go to Paine Field as well. Since you've already been there, I have a few questions for you. 1. How often are there planes taking off and landing during summer time everyday?(Mid July and Mid August) 2. Where are the locations that you are taking these videos from? Exact location with street names would be good so I know exactly where to stand. Thanks. :)
+Shivam The Spotter Google Map the runway and you'll get a good idea of where to hang out at. Plenty of view opportunity at both locations. Flightaware.com for KPAE will be your best friend.
沒想到波音還有繼續沿用風扇供電系統啊~帥!!(本以為只有777有XD)
0:54 did that plane just turn into a turboprop? Lol
7:20 also what’s the little propeller under that it seems to be making to turboprop noise.
The 787 in any livery is stunning!
Very much liked !!!
Thank you very much!
I have lived in the flight path of SeaTac. Now I live in the flight path of Paine Field. A 787 landing sounds like no other plane I have ever heard. As it approaches, it sounds like a jet, but as it passes overhead, it sounds like a turboprop.
They're usually testing the ram air turbine which is a small propeller that comes out and sounds like an angry Cessna. Hang out at Paine Field sometime if you have a chance to catch in motion.
Good Show. But I still haven't found what I'm looking for: a 787 in real life. I think the first ones will be: TUI - Arke and KLM in 2014.
Hope you get your wish in 2014! Would be great to see those liveries on a 787.
9:30 was an incredibly smooth landing!
To all of you who don't know what that little propeller is underneath is, it is to power the blender in the galley. It is connected to a shaft that runs into the plane and the blenders hook up to it. Or, you can power the dishwasher and the record players that they have installed. To save electricity, they're all mechanically powered. There, now you know. When you see them on other aircraft and someone ask what it is, you can now tell them!
interesting ..... i have never seen a plane land with RAT before...... made me think that the BRAND NEW 787 is having engine failures already ..... thank goodness its only testing
Please read comments below if you're gonna ask about "ram air turbine" (aka fan/propeller at the bottom of planes).
Please do a new one with newer deliveries
at 3:10 that JAL 787 has it's wind compressor out from under the belly of the aircraft.. did they lose Hydraulic pressure or somthing? or electricity?
British Airways and Thomson win the livery wars. Beautiful airplane in beautiful paint!
2:42 that one is in serious trouble
The first Boeing 787(Japan Airlines)is deployed the Ram Air Turbines(RAT).
seems to me that most of the airlines that lands on this airport have their RAT's deployed. is it true on other airports that a 787 land to
sorry but initially i was thinking this was a revenue flight. it is a pre delivery flight. thanks for the comment
(He doesn't realize that my ex wife is my ex because I kicked her out! I am better off so what it says about me is that my time is too valuable to waste on demanding bitches! LOL)
excelephant
+Wilbur Finnigan Why oh why do you have to go around being a colossal arsehole to everyone, Willy, don't you think it would be nice to just be nice for once in your 74 years? Now, be a good boy and apologise to Wesley.
Awesome video!! But just the 787 I see in Paris, are not here! LAN and Aeromexico... But it doesn't materrs, you show how lucky you are in this video!! A huge like from me!! :D
I've seen to of caught many Aeromexico takeoffs, but never any landings :( And LAN, that's been an elusive bird for me. Someday.......
The first ones an A350! LIAR IT EVEN SAID 380 OR SOMETHING ON THE WHEEL
I love the boeing 787-8,9,10 first and business class
✈🛫🛬🛩💺
The GE is now my favorite usaly my favorite is RR but the scream on the GEs are awesome
Great video, really enjoyed it. Whats the spinny thing for near the back?
That’s the first thing I noticed was the RAT being deployed. Is that routine?
Hmmm Why is the RAT deployed?? You normally only deploy those on system failure.
Why so man of the planes using the RAT? sounded like a prop plane, lol
why is there like a fan under the plane 1:08
thanks man
?
The Official Cruise Channel third engine )))) lol
The Official Cruise Channel search up what an RAT is
United Airlines 787-900 is the most beautiful aircraft out there
They have fans spinning under their belly when landing. I wonder what that is...
