I've said it once and I'll say it again, I cannot thank you enough for creating this channel and producing such informative content. I can remember asking you what products you used in the past for your excessive shedding, and you informed me that your hair was "falling" out due to some health conditions you were battling. I took that information and applied it. There is truly a difference between shedding, hair loss, and breakage. I've come to realize that you can have the best hair care products in the world, but if you're not getting the proper nutrients and minerals internally, on a regular, then the top of the line hair products won't serve much purpose. Since watching your videos, I've started taking Biotin 10,000 (twice daily) women's multi Vitamins, iron pills( nature made) and orange juice for my Vitamin C. Along with using Keracare hair care products. If you have more recommendations, PLEASE let me know. Your Knowledge is well appreciated. If I could have liked this video 100 times,I would have! Thank you! 👑
Aww... thank you, THANK YOU, LaDonna! ♥️♥️♥️ I cannot tell you how happy I am that you are finding value in my content. As I said, we are all in this together! And if I stumble upon any other products that would be helpful in OUR journey, I will be sure to share. Again, thank you! 🤗
OK, you know I had to look that up, right? lol I see it comes in powder form. Is there a certain brand you recommend or are all of them pretty much the same?
Thanks for this video. People tend to recommend protein treatments or tea rinses as soon as someone mentions shedding. I use to panic when I saw like 20 hairs come out, but I learned a long time ago that's nothing to worry about.
Hey, mrsrmb26! Yeah, shedding can be scary if you don’t know what to look for...and what’s considered normal. My heart still skips a beat when I see hairs even though I know I’m no longer sick. PTSD... lol
Again thank you for these nuggets! So grateful for this information while on my healthy hair journey (and lucky to be blessed with hair that grows relatively fast) to recover from stress, extremely damaging keratin treatment (on low porosity hair) and inefficient hair care regimen. Counting on you for more interesting and beneficial content.
I added black tea to my regimen to minimize shedding and it's been a game changer for me, personally. The caffeine decreases the deterioration of DHT, the little white bulb that meets the root and the scalp; this allows the hair to not slip out of our scalp so easily.
Love, love your hair info. You really put logic and sence to what you say. You do make it feel like we are doing this journey together. I dont have an issue growing my hair I'm trying to get it to thicken up some. I have fine hair, guess its age related, I'm 70 years young. My length is past my shoulders at the moment but fine. Keep up those videos!
Thank you, again, for your encouraging words! I really do appreciate you taking the time to comment. (And so glad to hear that your hair is thriving, too! 💁🏾♀️)
Thank you. For the past several months, I've been able to pull tons of hair out of my head. I didn't know what I was doing wrong and nutrition didn't occur to me.
Hey, Mezzogirl17! Yeah, there could be several factors behind your shed hair, but definitely consider your nutrition/internal regimen as one to keep an eye on.
I’ve had both and now that the season is getting ready to transition from hot to cold 🥶 my hair will shed. I am not going to stress (try😥😥) and try some new things like relaxing my hair before I start wearing a jacket, get a fresh trim and consistently take my multi vitamins.
Sounds like a good plan to me, Nisa! 😉👍🏾 And, yeah, my hair tends to shed a little more as the weather gets cooler, too. Mainly during the winter months.
I have to say I got tickled when she said to get rid of the stress..."now I'm not saying get rid of the kids"..that gave me a good laugh!! Love these videos. Very, very informative. I cut my hair "to the white meat" (5.5 inches) and I'm not crying over it, it's coming back, right?!? Lol!
I remember when I went on holiday to Jamaica my hair was shedding a lot. I'm experiencing a little breakage of some strands at the crown - I think its mechanical so I know now that I need to be extra gentle. I've been incorporating the aphogee 2 minute conditioner on my wash days. Thx for the info x
NOOOOO! Don’t tell me that! WHYYYYY?! (*sobs quietly into a pillow* ) Ugh... Well, I guess I’ll be nursing the bottle I have now. I do like KeraCare’s setting lotion, too. But WnT gives me more shine. Thanks for the update... 😢
Hello! I've noticed a lot of breakage recently (long pieces of hair, between 3 and 5 inches). I'm not sure why it started... Back story, I have anemia, but I've started taking multi vitamins and iron a couple of weeks ago. And I've finally started drinking water properly (not sure why I still can't get myself to drink water properly at 28 aha). I tried Olaplex, Aphogee 2 steps protein treatment, shea moisture manuka honey for moisture, I don't use a flat iron anymore and air dry my hair in braids after my complete wash day but still I'm experiencing breakage while my hair still grows... (almost 2 inches in 5 weeks post relaxer). I'm starting to lose hope with all the breakage though... Do you have any idea as to why I am experiencing this? Have you experienced it as well? I'm getting scared to even touch my hair at this point... And the bad thing is that because I live in France, we don't have a lot of hair dresser who really understand black hair so I only rely on youtubers like yourself (by the way thank you so much for all the knowledge you share, I'm binge watching your videos even though I don't comment on a lot of them aha) Thinking back while I am writing this comment, the breakage started after my last relaxer, but during the relaxer process, I did coat my lengths with castor oil and the relaxer did not touch it, except during the rinse of course but I don't think that would break my hair... would it? That was a long comment aha but I would really appreciate an outside point of view, maybe I'm missing something really silly that you would notice right away! Thank you again by the way :)
Hey, Marietou! I’m so sorry that you’re experiencing breakage. We’ve all been there at one time or another, so you’re definitely not alone. Without me seeing your hair and knowing your regimen in full, it would be hard for me to guess what the cause is. However, I do have some questions: You said that you believe the breakage started after you relaxed. What did you put on your hair after relaxing? Do you use a leave-in conditioner? Does your hair feel dry and brittle to the touch? When was your last trim? Also, has your breakage gotten worse after using both the Olaplex AND the Aphogee protein treatment or does it seems the same? What other moisturizing products do you use on your hair and do you air dry because you’ve had issues with heat before or is that just your preference?
@@DolceDawn Hey! Thank you so much for your answer. After the relaxer I washed my hair with the neutralizing shampoo (ORS) and I used Olaplex 3 as it usually works for me that way. I have just recently started using "It's a 10" for my leave in and it does wonders to my hair usually. But these past few weeks my hair (or I should say my lengths) feel super dry and brittle... I do trim my ends myself (my last hair stylist told me that a trim wasn't needed for me but I still felt the need to so after every other relaxer) or whenever I see that my ends need it. My breakage has subsided I believe in the past two weeks, maybe due to the treatments, but it's still a lot of hair that falls every time I brush my hair. I love playing with heat every now and then (I used to do it once a week or once every two weeks) but with COVID and because I'm working from home full time, I just leave my hair in 4 braids unless I have a visioconference call aha And I made sure this past year that the lengths of the braids weren't always brushing against my clothes by putting them up in a satin scrunchy (but not too tight). The situation is really confusing... I do know that my hair is coarse and low porosity even with the relaxer so I am still getting to know my hair but now I am completely lost so I do appreciate that you're taking the time to answer :)
I know I’m not gentle. I know it’s hard when we start a hair journey but …. - Have u heard of JBCO causing excessive shedding? Thanks for sharing there wonderful tips.
Hey, Lim’uru! Yes, vitamin D is huge, but I don’t think I’ve heard of excessive shedding when it comes to JBCO. With that being said, everybody is different and reacts differently to different things. But I’ve heard nothing but good things about JBCO.
Sometimes its such a panic. My hair even after perming i would just see some really long hairs when its still wet. I have have a lotttt of short hairs now i feel so defeated looking at them.
Been there, done that… I know how you feel regarding the short hairs, the shedding. I totally get it. But please don’t feel defeated. We’re going to do the work and we’re going to reap the rewards. You got this, LadyQuo. #Letsgo 💪🏾💁🏾♀️
