    Nice job, Kayla. I have the aboreal version of this enclosure, my A. purpurea "Penelope" currently calls it home. Nice enclosures for the money. That location you have your enclosure at, it's very close to a window, it doesn't get direct sunlight coming in and onto the enclosure does it ?

      Tarantula growth rate varies depending on sex, feeding schedule, temperatures, etc. I suspect I’ll have to rehouse this sling in about a year (give or take)! 😊🕷

  • @kelvinengland3991
    @kelvinengland3991 2 года назад

    I'm assuming you had to remove the succulents? GBBs detest humidity and even succulents need watering. So they would have either died due to lack of water or light having been webbed up. Or you have watered them and you will have a T who is not best pleased and in an environment that is not meeting its needs. I certainly wouldn't advise live plants in a GBB enclosure.

    • @kaylaroach
      @kaylaroach  2 года назад

      I removed the succulents a few months ago, thanks for your concern!

    The tarantula wouldn't drown in a deep or shallow water dish.

    • @kaylaroach
      @kaylaroach  2 года назад

      Regardless, it’s not a risk I’m willing to take. I always use shallow water dishes for my T’s to ensure that they can safely enter and exit when they go for a drink. You can never be too careful!

    • @kelvinengland3991
      @kelvinengland3991 2 года назад

      @@kaylaroach its not a risk. There has never been any incidence of a Tarantula drowning in a water dish. I've seen a spiderling dunked into a bucket of water and pop right up to the surface. It's impossible due to their physiology. The tarantulas book lungs are on the underside of their abdomen which is what sits on the water in any case, shallow or otherwise so if they had any chance of drowning in a water dish the depth of it would have no bearing on whether or not they could drown in it. I'm just trying to help you grow your channel as I know there are certain things that turn keepers off and talking about Tarantulas drowning in water dishes is one of them. I stopped watching your video instantly as soon as I heard that as I assumed if you thought that was possible that you would have nothing to tell me I didn't already know and that you may have other husbandry ideas that were unfounded. I wish you luck with your channel but we can all learn, I certainly don't know everything but we should all be open to learning and changing in the hobby. That's why I felt the need to make you and others aware that tarantulas 100 percent cannot drown in a water dish and infact having a shallow water dish can be a detriment to some species who require higher humidity, for example a Stirmi or Blondi, who benefit from a deep water dish to keep humidity up and therefore ensure a happy healthy T who will not struggle with molts etc...
