Giraffes Crossing the Mara River

I have spent many, many hours on #safaro at this spot on the Mara River watching #wildlife and this was my first time getting to see #giraffes making their away across. I watched them for about 15 minutes, slowly walking across, always alert to their surroundings and stepping carefully as they can’t see the bottom. At one point, a small herd of zebra came down to drink and the giraffe patiently waited for them to finish. Known animal crossings are a favourite place for predators to lie in wait, and you can certainly see how tentative and patient the giraffes are to ensure it is safe to make their way on shore. What an amazing privilege! The river sounds were quite loud, and you can hear a few hippo vocals as they looked on.

I was really worried that they wouldn’t make it across the river. I kept thinking,”Hurry up. Hurry up.” I thought something would attack them. So the sound at the end of the video… Is that what giraffe sound like?
