I cycle 17 miles every day, i am plugged in to my phone listening to Savoy-Doucet@Louisiana cajun music every day,its the only addiction i have since i stopped smoking, lets hope they never find a cure.
Cajun music is my hedge against fear and sadness. It brings me to my happy place, where my grandfather Xavier Raymond played the harmonica with his family and friends. Hearing this music brings me back almost 55 years, to when he was happy and loved to make others happy. God Bless my grandfather and Grandmother they may be gone from this Earth but so long as people remember them, they'll never be forgotten.
This is the reason why you want to go down to Louisiana good food and good music. Interesting to know that this type of music was born in the north and evolved in the south to what we get to enjoy today. Awesome!
Yeah he is and good ol Mom is over there being quiet letting her boys get the praise but all the time playing hella rhythm guitar so her boys can shine and loving every minute of it.boy thats some sweet love for ya.God bless a momma.make me wanna hug mine ~Duane Colbert~
It's funny how when you're Cajun, you know when you hear Cajun music... and you naturally like it. I'm a country man who likes his country and Southern rock. I absolutely love the music of my fellow Cajuns, though.
On my bucket list is to travel to Beaux Bridge and Eunice , La and thereabouts, and try to meet these Cajun musicians and enjoybsome Cajun music, crawfish, boudins, and dancing.
I wish I had been there to see this! The competition between the violinist on the left, and the accordionist on the right (and the brother (?) in the middle), is something to behold!
I love it. My dad was born and raised in Opelousas so I consider myself Cajun. This music makes me think of being at my grandmas back in the 80s. Saturday dinner was special. We’d have some gumbo w chicken and andouille sausage. Steak stewed in black iron skillet. She would use the best cuts of farm raised steak. We’d have some Boudain. We would have Cajun style fresh corn. My grandma made smothered fried potatoes. Green beans that were also smothered. Home made ketchup. There would be fresh cucumber and tomato salad. Of course rice. Always rice. All of my cousins Aunts and uncles would show up. Those were some of the best memories of my childhood. Damn I’m hungry now.
All I can say is God bless the Savoy family. Mom and Dad is soo proud and so am I. I just love how Dad and Mom are pulling for their boys to play good and they certainly didn't let em down. God Bless!!!
I don't know French and live in Lake Charles. I've researched my genealogy, I am still 70% French it seems. The rest of that is 30% English mix. I'm not as mixed as other Americans. Incredible how Acadians have survived as a culture, even though many of us lost our language.
Sweeet Culture and GREAT UNIQUE Music and people. . I spent 8 years travelling to LA. From Nl. Canada (Canuck ) BTW Almost everybody from La, has Ancestors in Canada!100-100 ty
I'm from Virginia, but have lots of close friends from south LA and I made a red beans and rice pot and tagged them in it on fb and they were pleased and I made it listening to this song!...well others too :-) Love it!
Can't say enough good about this family and their music! Been a fan for years and introduce their music where ever and when ever I can. I dare anyone to listen and keep their feet still. Can't be done!
its funny, I met them and they thought they knew me, so nice a tight family, and humble. Mark Savoy the father makes accordians. They arent for fame, just hold cajun music to its roots. Its beatiful.
The dad is just so happy with his sons' playing this is so fucking awesome. I'm from Nor Cal and a few years ago I embraced the Cajun culture once I got a few cast iron pans and my dutch oven. It opened a whole new world to me. I had been to NOLA before and my parent's and grandma went to Mardi Gras a few times, but the food and music to me is just so damn good.
This style of music has in my eyes and ears everything.Speed, precision, time and so on.And it is a way to express how easy life could be.I admire it a lot.
Love it. I had the immense pleasure of meeting Marc Savoy at his music center in Eunice, Louisiana a couple of weeks ago. Wish I had a chance to meet the rest of his family but time was short.
Interesting to note that 30 years ago Cajun music was virtually unknown in the UK! Record store guy looked at me as if I was a crackpot when I asked for their Cajun music selection! Savoy rock on...!
LANCSKID Oh really? I had no idea that in the United Kingdom, Cajun music was popular. I heard that the Irish and Polish people were our biggest fans. I'm a working fiddler myself to be honest with you.
I just found this kind of music and I'm happy beyond belief:) just makes me smile and tap my fingers, I wish there was a place here in Croatia where I could listen live performance and dance:)

The fiddles & squeezebox sound so sweet together.
If happy was a sound. This is it.
I was listening to KRVS out of Lafayette yesterday morning. Glad to see they're still working hard to keeping the culture alive.
My Grandpa owned a clothing store in Eunice called “the Manshop” before it was destroyed by hurricane Lilly.
Met these guys in UK on their tour a couple of years ago. They played Two Steps to Eunice for me. Real nice fellas and brilliant musicians...
Great music and great family! Hi from Italy!

Sounds like the great cajun tune included in the Bronson classic "hard times ". Fantastic
Mark was on the Movie " Southern Comfort". Played accordion...Brother Frank was on triangle. And sang final song.
The Big Easy, with Dewey and Christine Balfa was pretty good too. I have had a huge crush on Christine Balfa since I saw that movie.
