The Brave Little Toaster Characters: Good to Evil
Do you remember the somewhat dark questions that arose from Toy Story? The existential dread that comes along with being nothing more than a child’s toy... or, heck, what happens when you’re thrown out by the person you love...? Yeah, take that level of dark, existential nihilism and multiply it by about 100 and you have The Brave LittleToaster. One of the most exceptionally dark animated kids movies ever made

Of course to make that junkyard scene even more dark, pay attention to the magnet when the last car drives onto the conveyor belt himself. The magnet raises it's eyebrows in surprise that the car chose to end its own life accepting it's mortality. The magnet is so used to seeing a lot of cars deny their fate and keep fighting to live meanwhile, this one car surprised him by not only accepting his fate that he was gonna die but, refused to give that magnet the satisfaction of killing him.

The magnet specifically targets five appliances even though he has a junkyard full of items to grab, and then he sneaks behind Rob and tries to kill him just to defeat the appliances he could not catch. In order, the cars represented: The overly stressed, the depressed, the drifters, the has-beens, those who are afraid to settle, suffer from PTSD, the hedonists and the elderly. When you look at the history of animated cartoons, they were never really made for kids. It was made for adults in theaters before the movie started. By the 1950s, everyone had television in their homes and theaters were losing money. So they closed down all their animation departments and repackaged their catalogue of cartoons for television broadcast. Looney tunes, Popeye, Tom and Jerry etc.. were never originally targeted at children to watch.

You may know him best as the original voice of Tony the Tiger, one of the singing busts in The Haunted Mansion, and the uncredited singer of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" in the original version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
Other people include the likes of Jim Cummings who was the uncredited voice of the firefighter clown from Toaster's nightmare.
Lampy's voice actor, Timothy Stack, is a producer for Disney Channel shows these days.
Then there's the late Joe Ranft, who voiced the parts store owner, Elmo St. Peters. St. Peters himself would go on to serve as the inspiration for Sid Phillips in Toy Story.

This is a big part of my childhood. I was always sad for the flower (really he died?) and mixer. Love Blanket, hes so cute and innocent, relate to him a lot. Lampy and Kirby sacrificed their lives for the rest because they had to, they were irritated by the rest especially Blanky and Radio. Feel bad for the AC, he was actually jealous of them and pretty upset. Its a shame that he never had a chance to play with Rob. Very tragic character. If st Peters knew they were alive, he wouldnt kill the mixer. But Yes, the shadow scene is dark as hell. I honestly hate the "modern" appliances, they are all selfish bitches, very rude and heartless bastards. Magnet is apparently the worst, heartless killer. I was always afraid of him and his sounds. And where is the crusher? He is the devil. The TV is really cool and kind, good support and helper. The only one who wants to help everyone. He is super saint. I think Chris wasnt necessary since she actually has nothing to do in the story. But shes more grown up and feminine in the first movie. In the second shes more bitchy and more like a typical teen than a grown up woman. I wonder why she looks different in the first movie and the next ones

One could argue the truck attempted to save the main characters. Even if he could drive, he couldn't get to the elevated belt without the crane. It doesn't make sense that he would kill himself with the characters inside and pull onto the belt in reverse, facing away from the crusher.
