Awesome video thank you! Like seeing the kind of undertaking and time allotment for this install. The whole time I'm thinking this dude must rock climb!
took many hours but I managed to get this install done with your help :) did end up with about 10 leftover t25s but she feels solid and is driving ok... I'll keep em handy
Loved my first R32 and always regretted seeing it…. so I Just bought a 2024 Golf R and started the process of choosing first mods. Thanks for a great video… new sub 👍
Awesome video very in-depth. I’ve been having a hard time finding a local shop that is willing and trustworthy enough for this install. Gives me a lot more confidence in the inevitable install I’ll have to do myself. I purchased the same Intercooler and a milltek downpipe from you guys. It’d be awesome if you guys could include in the video discription all the required tools for the job as well. Keep up the great content.
I went through the video to make a list for myself of all the tools he lists hopefully this helps others as well -large channel lock pliers -a lift or jack and jack stands -lug wrench or sock for wheel removal -t25 torx -t30 torx -7mm socket -16mm sock with long 1/2 inch extension -flat head screw driver -small hose pick
Icing on the cake would be to put a list of tools needed and torque specs for things. Other then that thanks a bunch. Gonna tackle this on the weekend.
Awesome vid! I bought me a unitronic intercooler for my mk8 R - one quesrion - i noticed the foam pieces were removed on the edges of the condensor but no footage of them going back? Do you discard them with the unitronic intercooler?
@@Osli1388$50?!?, it is not 1995 buddy, I would say more like $100 to $150. No reputable shop will go through all that trouble for $200 if it is $50/hr.
LOL, why is it so hard for manufacturers to make these things fit right? Having to add spring washers to make sure the radiator and the intercooler don't come apart is ridiculous. Not trying to just crap on Unitronic here because my Mishimoto on my Mk7.5 was the same way.
I think that they spend a lot of time trying to figure out what works best, while also keeping costs down enough to use it on multiple vehicles so customers dont take the full brunt of the R&D costs... If they can spread it across 3-4 models, they can make the item cheaper for customers.
@@BMPTuning I wish some manufacturers really show this ((testings)) i find it hard to believe that this ic hidden in there is better than one in front mount same size and design
You did the whole Volkswagen community a huge favor by uploading this video. Wow that’s a pretty big job
Definitely harder than an intake :P
@@BMPTuning Yea no kidding
I just purchased my APR intercooler form you guys and followed this video and made my life so much easier. Thank you!
Glad to hear! Go make some power!
Such a great video! Used it today to install mine, took about 3 hours. Thanks for putting this together guys.

Ooo thats a good idea for next time, a little harder after the fact but maybe Ryan can write a list down from memory since he's done so many hah!

Not as Great as the Stache though.. yet at least.
Ryan's stache is def. on point haha

Ryan is the name of the person you're talking about in the video haha@@ryebread716

On the day I ordered an intercooler! Thats what im talking about!
WOOT now you have a guide!
I was on the fence about doing this. Looks like i am ordering an intercooler!
Awesome! Will ship it ASAP!
Master.
Start to finish what's the book hours on something like this?
We charge 4 hours of labor here!
$50 per hour? 😅

Man why not just get a front mount and forget this madness
Because through testing its been proven on MQBs that direct fits have lower IATs ^_^
@@BMPTuning it’s such a mess to install 😮💨

Its not that hard, its just tedious :( @@TheCd5apple
Because FMICs are not the same size - there was independent testing done a few years ago.@@TheCd5apple
Omg it takes the whole entire front end to come apart just for a intercooler upgrade 😂 like wtf
Unfortunately haha
I now regret ordering this intercooler
Why?!@
Can i take my car to you
