Wow, Thakkar Club ki thali... Mere bade bhaiya (elder brother) jab bhi Mumbai purchasing ke liye jate the, to ye thali zaroor khate the, in the early 90's. Us waqt is thali ki price 50- to 60- Rs. hua karti thi. Bhaiya aaj bhi jab thali ki baat nikalti hai to Thakkar Club ki thali zaroor yaad karte hai. I will definately tell him about this video... I have never visited this venue, but taarif bahut suni hai. I have visited Joshi Club, in Kalbadevi, Mumbai . Joshi Club ki thali bhi aisi hi tasty hai. Gujarati put gur in daal and subjis to make them taste little sweet. Even in samber sweet taste is added. During my 3 months stay in Bardoli I didn't like sweet taste in daal, samber and subjis, except in kadhi. That's way I learned cooking my food myself, being bachelor at that time (1979).

The Puran Poli is Chana daal with jaggery stuffed roti. Nutmeg and cardamom are added for taste. Puran means daal and Poli mean roti in Marathi.
