Thanks for the helpful idea. Just an encouraging tip- the white pvc pile you are using, is an indoor plumbing pipe that doesn’t have the UV protection. The grey pipe is an outdoor specific, for waterproof electrical jobs, and can hold its strength and qualities for many years, just slightly more expensive.
There's a fellow in WV who tried the same thing with for his hogs, but using the grey PVC conduit. It stands up to the sun better and drives into rocky soil surpisingly well. Costs a lot less then the timeless fence.
I have to say…I live in Florida, you know, the sunshine state, and I have pvc pipe that has been in the sun for 15 years and has no damage whatsoever. I make rod holders from 1 1/2” pvc , probably 50 or more, and they last indefinitely, unlike store bought plastic rod holders that crack and chip in a couple years. I have lengths of 3/4” at my boat yard sitting outside for 15 years and is fine. My 2 cents.
@@gansamazinggrazingfarm4790 Yeah that would be bad lol hey if you don’t mind me asking what kind of fault finder do you have I’ve been kind of looking into different types I really don’t run enough hot wire for it to be much of a problem for me but I do plan to get bigger into the hot wire I do I will need some type of a good System
@@johnscarboroughregenerativ7240 we have a Gallagher fault finder. I love it will buy again, the two main reasons we went with it was that the local oreschlens had it in stock. And that most of the other top end brands all had buttons you had to hold while testing, the Gallagher is auto on and off its ways in while in contact with fence and for a short time after taking off fence. I didn't like odea of having to hold button whole time checking fence. And almost forgot it is alot smaller and easier to hold in hand and has a ground probe can hook to it to get precise readings. I hardly ever use ground probe unless have a major issue I need exact measurement. Here's link to our video with ours ruclips.net/video/hFTnG6zAky4/видео.html
Your description of dirt cheap electric fence really should be renamed with the actual description because this is only fence part ideas and not a complete electric fence. Ill give it about a 5 on scale 1-10.
If you don't mind me saying, putting a link down in the description box, from where the products could be purchase, would make a great addition to your videos. Thank you very much for uploading this video!
I do really appreciate myself when people post links in the description but everything that I got here was all purchased at big box stores you could actually find all of the stuff at a chicken supply store only only issue is is not everybody has chicken supply stores near them so I’m not actually sure where you would get the 16th of an inch cable but I’m sure you could find it fairly easily online I would buy the stainless though
Made a catio for my cats out of pvc pipe.I painted it black 1st to block uv rays .4 years later its still good as new. Pvc pipe can be a long term investment!
We have been using the gray pvc conduit for electrical which is uv treated, had some fences up for over 2 years now and in direct sun light with 3 strands of 14 guage for sheep, have seen no problems with so far, I think we figured had about 80 some cence a post, I think its best for on a budget, we have made corners with 1" and 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 they are still holding strong, my opinion best budget post there are, cant wait to see what the life is going be of them
Mason Lantz all you really need to do is go buy the electrical grade PVC instead it’s already uv resistant I don’t know how long it would last but I’ve seen the schedule 80 on power poles that have been there for 30 years and still good
Im just thinking about what you said in the video about if they kick you off. Im going to be trying it for the first time and most likely will lease the cheapest thing i can get my hands on.
Eric Pearson this is actually just three-quarter inch pipe like I said it was just stuff we had lying around if I had to buy the stuff I would buy the UV protectant gray PVC pipe and I would probably get 1 inch on my corner but three-quarter works good
Thanks for the helpful idea.

How do you power your electric fence?
Cyclops Spence charger is my favorite.

Good video thanks for sharing. 👍
Also one thing we found out you need to drill a weep hole below your wire , the post will fill up with water and ground put huge draw on system,
Yes I make sure that I drill or weep hole at the bottom of each one I do that when I’m drilling the top hole for the tie wire
@@johnscarboroughregenerativ7240 ya we learned that one the hard way, took forever to find the problem. Thank God for a good fault finder

It will hold any cow I got. But with your cows, you may need to add some wires. Everybody's cows are different. Thanks for watching the video.
I like this setup. Im on a budget and need something that works. Thank you for sharing.

I just wanted to know how to build one

And one thing you can do if you really want it to last is go get Gray electrical PVC but it does cost more
.5% graphene added to plastic mix makes it UV tolerant.
Electrical grade pvc works much better
But it's very expensive
what did you use?

Electrical pvc ( grey pvc ) is uv-resistant
Yes yes and that stuff works a lot better but in this case under the shade I used what I already had free
Couldnt you just pray paint them with some outdoor UV resistant paint? or would that cost too much?

@@johnscarboroughregenerativ7240 i wonder at how many posts it would take for that to be worth it over a cheap pig tail post or fiberglass rod.
Well it is quite a bit cheaper but as far as whether or not it is better I don’t know But sometimes you just use what you have
@@johnscarboroughregenerativ7240 i would imagine it would be great as a cheap post between stronger tread in posts.

What size pvc pipe is that? 1"? How did you drive it in the ground?
Eric Pearson this is actually just three-quarter inch pipe like I said it was just stuff we had lying around if I had to buy the stuff I would buy the UV protectant gray PVC pipe and I would probably get 1 inch on my corner but three-quarter works good
I just used a regular T post driver
What is the wire you are using on this clip?
16 inch stainless steel cable
1/16” SS braided wire found at harbor freight 100’ rolls.
Turn off the motorcycle we might be able to hear what you say
