  • Earthquakes are tragic, and the scientific community has been accelerating its shared effort to apply machine learning to seismological problems. Those who have built models using traditionally available earthquake catalogs have seen firsthand how the landscape is evolving as the available or newly generated earthquake catalogs continue to improve.
AETA is one of the world's most notable initiatives in this domain. It aims to predict earthquakes with a strength of more than 3.5 within a week from the start date. This ambitious project, led by Peking University, seeks to leverage the data collected via a novel 3-part sensory system and a machine-learning-based algorithm developed by bringing the global AI community together and enabling an ecosystem for success.
At DPhi, we've been fortunate to collaborate with them and add value to their research work. The initiative aligns with our mission of bringing the global community together to address some of the toughest challenges. Watch this complete interview by Chanukya Patnaik from DPhi with Dr. Shashan Yong, the co-founder of the AETA project and Ph.D. Sr Engineer at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School.
