You were using old monitor (1280x1024) or you bought some cheap monitor. Back then there were alredy 1440p monitors, and the most popular ones were 1680x1050, and 1080p. I had 1680x1050 and all games besides crysis run like a dream on my 8800Ultra, some games like Fear even run at 1440p with 60fps on such GPU. When it comes to 8800GTX results from this particular video, there's clearly something wrong, because other YT'er has 3x more fps with similar GPU (8800Ultra) in the same game (lost planet).
@@PabloB888 The numbers are wierd, can't recall a 8800GTX/9800 been so slow, has to be something related to VRAM limitation and not the GPU performance. Like pushing Tomb Raider all max out on a 2GB card, it should dump the frames to the ground.
His results are wrong. For example in lost planet he has 10-20fps at 1080p DX9 max settings, while other YT'er has 40-70fps at DX10 1080p max settings on 8800Ultra (ultra wasnt much faster compared to GTX, so his results should look similar).
Red Line Ray Tracing in GTX cards would be done with the software, it will be more expensive unlike RTX cards, if you turn ray tracing then the GTX 1080 can be dead in 2021.
A more fair comparison would've used games from the 8800 GTX era, since the new cards are better tuned and driver'd for the effects in the newer games. A card from the future would do how well in 2006 is the question.
Maybe he is using MSAAx4, or his 8800GTX is simply damaged. He has 10-20fps in lost planet (1080p DX9 max settings), while other YT'er 40-70fps (the same settings).
i watch this because i sent rma my old 8800 ultra, and when to study, so i forgot about it... but after so many years, i just remember it, and wanna know how it will perform today if i still got it...

Some day we may see 8800 GTX vs RTX 8080
I wanna see rtx6969
10fps vs 1.5 million fps bro
1920x1080 is a very high resolution for that era. When I had this gpu my monitor was 1280x1024
Agreed. My was 1680 and even that was overkill.
My was 1440x900

1920x1080 monitors didnt exist, it was like 8, 16k

The comparison we needed but didn't asked for..
Tech comment sections be like, "My 8800 GTX is still holding strong... Anyways, your eyes can't see past 10fps"

I do remember getting 48FPS with two 8800 GTX in SLI in Lost Planet 😂... I also really miss the Dead Space games
In 10 years we finally can see gtx 1080 at 10 fps in games 😂
Turn on ray tracing and it my be way sooner than u think, unfortunately
@Benjamin McMullan True but it still runs. Just takes several more clock cycles.

try this with a 1080 ti in ten years and ill bet its a hell of lot closer.
the fast forward thing destroys the effect of comparison

That and testing at 720p because it's running into VRAM limits
did you activate image smoothing or something similar? the 10 fps looks a bit too smooth for me

8800Ultra was amazing card. Besides crysis all games run at 60fps on my PC (1680x1050).
GTX 8800GTX were not designed for current gen gaming, it’s a direct X 10 card. I am surprised that this card can even run metro exodus,
Metro 2
also sped up footage makes it hard to see the difference, as 30 fps just looks like 60
speed 4x
Bit like comparing a Ferrari to a ford cortina !!
Good work.
Lol i had a gt 730 ddr3 a gpu that came 10 years after but has the same performance video memory is the only thing that is better 😂😅
2036, 8800 gtx vs FTX 8090
