"No need to overcomplicate things." -LSV, after passing a P1P2 flash on the chance the player passing to him was going to cut flash monsters, and just before seeing a P1P10 Etali.
It's really cool to see how the high power level of cubes like this affects even cards that would be very weak in regular limited - like watching LSV 4th pick a Duress and talking about splashing it is just crazy when that card is like, sideboard material at best in regular limited formats. Vintage cube is just so cool
'I don't need bayou, cause we have great mana'... You just know mana will come and destroy you later... Super tilting matches... We've all been there. Still awesome content :)
I really appreciate that you post the bad drafts as well as the good, helps me remember everyone makes mistakes when I bomb in a cube run :) Yes, I make more of them, but everyone makes them.
I'm not going to say that Etali Flash is a trap. It's clearly good. But it doesn't seem reliably good enough to dedicate hate draft picks to breaking it up. It very often ends up being two mediocre cascade triggers for two cards, at the cost of running an uncastable in your deck. Passing a Worldspine Wurm after passing a Flash is at least 10x a larger concern.
This deck was honestly pretty sweet with some awful awful draws. But imagine if that Exploration had been a Grief, would have been the perfect deck for it
It was interesting for sure, and as much as I love gitrog monster I think the takeaway from this one is that it is not worth it to pass broken cards in fear of opponents cutting support for them(we even got beat by the flash that we tried to cut). Imagine taking flash > grief instead of Pest Infestation > Exploration. Also, I run Gitrog Monster as my deck in commander and I have ended up cutting exploration. It simply doesn't do what Gitrog Monster needs and ended up being about as useful as it was in this draft.
Maybe we learned this from Timr0d passing to us but perhaps another player like Tom Martell passing to LSV would be more likely to want to try to hurt LSV's chances
I like p3p1 lutri, the wheel seems like a long shot and everything seemed so open I would imagine you're really likely to get 23 cards you're happy with anyways. Meanwhile lutri's improving the deck for certain by a little bit, you can grab it to discard it to lili if she's run everyone out of resources, or to currency converter, and occasionally something like halfling + blue land would make it castable
I'm a little surprised at the score lately. Feels like we're seeing power almost each draft but still losing most games to just awful draw or opens drawing gas. tough streak.
I think this deck was suppose to run the bazaar. With currency converter, a reanimator theme, gitrog monster I was suprised that it was left in the sideboard.
I do feel like this draft reinforces my feeling that Exploration and Oracle are just too clunky for this iteration of Cube. Yes, getting Exploration on Turn 1 is good, and they play nice with draw 7's, but the floor on them is so bad that I feel like they're more negative in this format than they are positive.
The juice is simply not worth the squeeze with Exploration. For every 1 good time it pays off there are 99 where any other card would have been better.
It's super fun to see LSV cook up draft cut conspiracy theories and get lost in them lmao, but seeing how much worse it makes him as a drafter is still a bit frustrating Cutting does not make sense in most teamdraft scenarios. You have 2:3 odds of hurting a teammate:hurting an opponent, and you're *always* hurting yourself in the process, if only a little.
53:35 I feel like you definitely should have reanimated Ashen Rider instead of Etali there to get rid of Comet. That dog gets out of control very fast.
Wait you actually like the act of taking cards that will make someone else have less of a good time, while also adding nothing of value to yourself? Dick move.
Eh, it wasn't really hate drafting for any relevant picks-was actually the opposite, where LSV thought he would get cut more than he did. Draft went sideways more because the deck was two decks (lands and reanimate) that didn't synergize/had some uneven draws (as animator sometimes does-for example, he never drew his fast mana and his reanimate package or anything to ramp into early).
@@nottoday9098 Of course. Team drafts are fun because they are extremely competitive, and your goal is to maximize the chance your team wins. Hate drafting adds fun strategic decisions. Definitely not a dick move, it's a core idea of playing any competitive drafting game.
@@SidnvNot talking about team drafts. Obviously in team draft you would do something like that. Talking about the guy longing for the days of the queuing being 8 man pods and using picks to hate draft instead of further his own deck.
35:20 when you attack with just one pest, how in the world could that be a bluff? Villain didn't even think 1 second before blocking - Oh sorry, you lose your threat :(
Drew so bad 1st match. Then manifested more bad draws...you manifest such great draws in past thinking positive and not out loud speaking negative. Peace cuz
I'm really surprised how much you love Exploration. Exploration is trash unless you're abusing it with draw 7's or playing lands from your graveyard. Even when it works perfectly - T1 Forest, Exploration, land, T2 land, land, 4 drop - it's not _that_ good, and it's garbage the rest of the time. If your 4 drop is Wheel of Fortune + 1 drop, now we're talking, but that wasn't this deck.
And it proves itself times and times again that land stuff is absolute garbage without blue and legit card draw. The amount of times you get screwed over with just trading one for one and then not drawing enough cards when your opponent has any card selection is massive.

I found the checkers players
Hes been cubing to much, Hes getting paranoid. IF I TAKE THIS CARD HE WILL CUT ALL THE GOOD CARDS THAT GO FOR IT. THERE ALL OUT TO GET ME!

Thank you for hard work. Your daily uploads are a treasure. Don't burn yourself out, take care and have fun!!!
When I see exploration, I know what's coming. Not to say I want it to happen, but I see it coming.
Exploration was the real Thief of Sanity this draft
Our man LSV was going through it this draft.
'I don't need bayou, cause we have great mana'... You just know mana will come and destroy you later...
Super tilting matches... We've all been there. Still awesome content :)
Yea multiple games LSV gets color screwed. The land base was pretty clunky and playing double green cards in a base black deck was rough.
I did not expect LSV to pass the flash
I am on pack 2 and it sure looks like he curved himself out of the nut flash + cheatty big things deck lol
Mistake
Could've splashed for Flash, but he passed.
I really appreciate that you post the bad drafts as well as the good, helps me remember everyone makes mistakes when I bomb in a cube run :)
Yes, I make more of them, but everyone makes them.
I love this archetype. Entombing for non-creatures is so cool and using it to assemble Dark Depths is just so sweet.

would not have helped with these draws though

Card that LSV has called another card the most is Ashen Rider and Angel of Despair 1:02:10

The upside of Wheel is way higher.

it happens
what a sweet deck and a sucky result. Wish we could get a mulligan on the first two games and see you play 3 more matches with it!
Still looking for the promised cube cobra link... ;)
I think this deck was suppose to run the bazaar. With currency converter, a reanimator theme, gitrog monster I was suprised that it was left in the sideboard.
Forgot to mention courser and oracle can also hit it of the top.

No Crucible even after picking up Gitrog, Wasteland, and all those fetchies?
I thought the same with the Lotus Field

Winning this draft flashed before your eyes
that pack two was NUTS
I like how you keep calling Archon 'Angel' which is true in a lot of lore, but not mentioned for MTG in anything I have read.
I'm guessing he is just thinking Angel of Despair which was like the proto version of Ashen Rider, back in the day. It's a very similar card :)
Starting this video , love he is almost drafting Rock lol
Something happen, but I like look yours draft & play ⭐️🇮🇹🙌🏻
Mack’s UW tempo/control deck was nuts.
I’m never going to get to see a dark depths deck in cube; Womp Womp
53:35 I feel like you definitely should have reanimated Ashen Rider instead of Etali there to get rid of Comet. That dog gets out of control very fast.
Tough Cookie lifting huge weights in your teammate's Natural Order/Tinker deck
Nice! I was excited for today's video! Love your content! I'm currently unable to find your cube at cube cobra. Do you have the link?
LSV has stated a few times that GB is lacking in the Vibtage Cube. What GB cards are needed to make it a viable archtype?
Yikes it’s been a rough few drafts but the bounce back is gonna be great when it come s
Loving the old style drafts with hatedrafting. Leagues killed an entire section of drafting by removing the pools.
Even in pods hate drafting wasn’t great. Just in team draft

Dang. Wanted to see Bazaar Gitrog.
Jeez that was brutal
Fairly confident LSV could run 25 lands and still not see a 2nd one until turn 7.

Gitrog + Lotus Field
Draw 2 cards to weak?
I think Lotus Field is a draw 1, it triggers once for sacrificing two lands
Oh right - it's one or more :(
Golgarbage strikes again😢
Sad for no Crucible effect.
Went full Tiltrog Monster
Loving the vintage cube videos. Also, now that Arena cube is out, do you think you'll run a couple of those here too?
Just finished the LR cast where LSV bashes Golgari for being a weak archetype 😂
Add Dakmor for Gitrog!
Fate went wrong.. the deck was fine. The last game was the only real game that was played imo.
Time to watch S again... without the L and V.
Drew so bad 1st match. Then manifested more bad draws...you manifest such great draws in past thinking positive and not out loud speaking negative. Peace cuz
The exploration was painful..

I would hav3 played bazaar
Rough combo of not the best deck archetype (was insanely open and well drafted imo) and super rough draws. I agree with what you kept.
well yeah, GB Garbage is still bad in cube.
alrighty
