Hairpin Laser Welding | FLOW-3D WELD

This animation shows melting of copper during the hairpin welding in an electric motor. A ray tracing algorithm of FLOW-3D POST was used to create a realistic visualization of the material free surface. The simulation in FLOW-3D WELD predicts the shape and dimensions of the fusion zone as well as the temperatures and velocities inside the melt pool.
