You might have taken comprehenisve analysis of the technologies involved in the system. But please take congnisance of: 1. Comparative Study of Cost effects, which you may have already did. 2. Reliability -- Roller Delayed system may be pinched with :: four small holes in between the chamber at start of Barrels Grvoes for the escapement of hot gases to avoid residue in the system. These holes should be directed to muzzel end, which will help metigate recoil also without disturbing the blow back action. 3. Free floating Barrel can be incorporated swapable, with lugs on the chamber, having interlocking in the receiver. 4. Short Gas piston may also be considered. Roller delayed systems are complicated and they require tightly closed system which require more time for clearing. To avoid frequent jams, both these systems can be joined.

very informative video. Would like to hear the same about the AK's. Also record some videos about the cleaning & oiling of self defence weapons. Thanks
Thank you, Mr. Ali, for a fairly comprehensive snapshot on G-3. A couple of things, I am not sure whats its barrel twist rate is, but it's a German-designed mechanism, I would assume it's 1-10 for a 7.62.51 round. And that's the most appropriate twist rate for a sub 20" barrel in that (30) calibre and 150gr with a full metal jacket, standard ammo. I think it's based on Geneva protocol (specs for military-grade cartridges on a battlefield). Anyways, G-3's weight, around 4.3 KG for the standard version is a bit higher side, although the weight is helpful to reduce its recoil up to 30% as compared to any 7.62.51 calibre in sub 8lb weight. Certainly, extreme environment limit carrying 1000 rounds on a back (32 kg) above 15000', M-16 M-4s and AR-15s almost give 1.2 times more weight carrying ( gun and ammo) capacity. However, G-3's heavy bullets (at around 2600 feet/s) may get the job done effectively with less ammo fired as compared to 5.56, which is susceptible to wind deflection and sub-zero below-par performance due to lack of weight and reduced penetration ability. One more thing about G-3, the blowback mechanism is a better system for the extreme environments, typical gas-operated systems like AR.15 or M-4 platforms don't operate that reliably in relatively tough environments. The variety that the G-3 platform offers, like the new G-3S version for the close quarters/anti-terrorist operations with great penetration (body armour) and stopping power, I think it's second to none. Other platforms like FN, Scar, the French battle rifles and the new trend of a bullpup, Israeli, and the Chinese Type-97 and a few others have their demerits also. Pakistanis made the right choice when selected G-3 and I think, you are the right man to safeguard your national interests in finding the right solutions for the Pakistani military and export market.
Sir, do you want to defend G-3 continued production at POF in 2022 ? Then please enlightened us on the following : - How many countries started G-3 licensed production and how many remain in 2022 ? - No matter if you call it a battle or assault rifle, don't you agree about a uniform rifle in an Army and not 'conversion' to another totally new rifle when deployed in a Hilly or Colder environment ? - It a fact that 5.56 mm is also called an 'intermediate' solution and its results in Iraq and Afghanistan are still debated highly in professional literature but have NATO and USA switched back to 7.62 mm as primary weapon ? Certainly for them, the advantages (weight/size of weapon, weight of bullets carried, recoil etc) outweigh the disadvantages. - We started production in somewhere mid-1960s ... how come till today there is no R&D for a totally indigenous design? if we can design guided missiles, tanks and nukes ... why not the equally if not more important ? the main infantry weapon ?
Salman brother Pakistan m civilian market bht bari h aur POF us s bahr h plz 223' 222 ki reliable rifle B'nai in reasonable cost bolt action rifle B'nai plz Pakistan m hunting guns bht expensive h
Sir I think design of BW20 in FN Scar or CZ Bren type box type body and BW21 in HK 417 type body design would be killer design in mordern battlefield and psychological advantage for an average infantry men in coming years. And people in US are waiting for Roller Delayed guns after G3 and people are crazy about unique guns. It could be a resurected beast. Modern Beast looking gun in 2021 would be a game changer, because you buy what you see.
thefirearmblog article about BW20 and BW21 already raising eyebrows of Gun community in great interest in Roller Delayed Guns but need just improvement in design changes like above mentioned... Best of Luck... Brings these two beast to rule.
It means the upcoming BW 20 is a real treat for warriors with roller back system ... hope to see something at par with sig and Ak 203 in our jawans hands while confronting Rundians along loc and WB !
We remain stuck on this essentially obsolete platform of the G3 trying our best to dress it up, attach rails to it etc so it's more practical in current scenarios. Maybe the argument is that its cheaper for us since we have the H&K machinery in place. We need fresh thinking and should consider the adoption of multiple weapon systems to suit on the ground needs. The U.S. is moving to a 6.8mm cartridge which has better penetration than the 5.56mm and better ballistics and easier to carry and shoot. We should consider something similar. As there will be typical bearucratic inertia against this, we should start with immediately adopting the new AK 102/103 etc which have well established reliability records and the H&K 417, 7.62mm ( maybe cheaper Turkish MKEK platform). In parallel we should consider a platform for an intermediate caliber to suit needs like light weight of weapon and ammo pouches, downrange retained energy and ballistics etc. The Militaries worldwide are slow to adopt new things to put it gently, but I think it's time to migrate away from the G3 instead of trying to beautifying it.
World has mostly abandoned roller delayed blowback systems due to their inherent disadvantages. The recoil of roller delayed weapon is slow continuous push as opposed to the crisp recoil of a Direct impingement or short stroke piston. So you can far easily aim quickly and put multiple quick accurate shots with DI or short stroke piston as opposed to the roller delayed donkey recoil. Roller delayed blowback is inherently less reliable design than the short stroke piston. But one of the biggest disadvantage of the roller delayed mechanism is that you can't readily put suppressors on the rifle, like plug and play as opposed to the short stroke piston rifles with multiple gas block settings. And the availability of suppressor or lack their of is a major difference between a an effective weapon and not so effective weapon. The advantages of suppressed weapon is better hearing protection, better situational awareness, coordination and communication between the team because you aren't deafened by your own rifle fire. The suppressed rifle also increases the troop's survivability because enemies can't triangualte/locate the position of thhe shooter even if they can somewhat hear the crack of the rifle firing. Its really difficult to locate the attacker with suppressor just by hearing shots coming to effectively return back the fire. That's not some keyboard warrior myths but been tested and varified by the professional veterans. So many militaries are now inducting rifles that be default comes with some sort of suppressor like US military's latest selected rifle. If these comparisons seem to be myth to you then please live test fire the best ever built G-3 with any SCAR-H rifle side by side to disprove these claims. Its quite embarrassing that POF can't even copy a decent rifle system to produce its own future standard issue military rifle for Pakistani military. All POF can come up with is G-3 rifle with new stock and 10/20 years old rail system. Then tagged it as BW-20 rifle.
@@asimjabbar8445 would you change your car shock absorbers to a slow impulse giving shocks or a sudden crisper impulse giving shock absorbers . I am impressed with your internet forums collection research but i dont think you have ever owned or shot through a roller delayed or a short stroke rifle .
@salmanali-cm8rk wow thanks you answered your own question. You don't bring Toyota Corolla into a sports car race 😜. Sports cars have stiffer chassis and stiffer suspension to eliminate body roll and crisp turns. Their ride might be not so soothing with smaller suspension travel in exchange for better handling and lower center of gravity. Longer suspension means you would have to ride the jump a bit more before you regain the control. In case of rifle it means bit more time before your aim goes back at the target. Just conduct a test yourself. Get 2 good shooters like 2 soldiers and 2 SSGs. Hand them G-3/BW-20 vs SIG 716 rifles to run through CQB course and long range accurate shooting. Then exchange the guns and repeat. It would be really interesting to see the comparison results. Both the rifles shoot the same caliber, 1 used by Pakistan on LOC and the other used by Indian army across the LOC border. The test with real life implications right there.
Can you please enlighten how to get hold of a legit arms license? Pakistani Government really discourages its people to have small arms whereas developed countries have militias for self-defense..
