Tucker couldn't agree more! As long as the touch points; steering wheel and gear lever are in nice soft leather that's all that matters. I don't get into my car and go around prodding the plastics to see if they feel cheap and hard.
lol.....agreed.. I own two cars.....subcompact.. (hard plastics all around).....entry level luxury sedan... (squishy dashboard plastic and door handles)....if one car cost 3x the other, that's the only time u go around prodding the plastic.
I disagree. It's not just about touching. Soft-touch materials usually look much better and you feel more comfortable in such an interior. They also don't produce noises and are less visible in windscreen. Recently Škoda and Seat were forced by VW not to use them anymore in superminis, which sucks, because Fabia and Ibiza are my favourite ones. On the other hand, look at new Micra's dashboard, it's so much better.
@@newtonwhatevs weird then, lots of my family have been driving VW cars for a long time now and they've been very little hassle. The one time a family member moved to another brand (Mercedes), it was an utter disaster.
If only the VW Group would make the SEAT line available in North America; Canada specifically. Their vehicles shun VW in looks while having, basically, the same features but for thousands less. I would have a Leon Cupra and an Ateca in the driveway, despite my family owning dealerships of several other brands, almost immediately.
sereneturmoil As a SEAT owner for nearly 15 years I'm on my last one. They are great cars but the dealer network is appalling. Such a shame but they need to sort that before entering in to new markets.
Would rather have this than any other supermini currently on the market. Looks great, and if it's anything like our Leon, it will be great to drive. Going to be a big hit and win a lot of sales from other brands IMO.
Hoping a Cupra model will happen - could be great. This new Ibiza in my opinion this the best looking super mini out there, the new fiesta has an awkward rear.
Looking forward to passing my driving test as I've been looking at the Ibiza for a good while and would like this model as my first car so this video has really helped me as when I've had had a look at other ibizas a lot of them has put me off due to interior ..might sound pathetic but having autism I like attention to detail especially something like this but the new Ibiza has put my mind at ease
are those seats not available in the uk market? I was speccing one up on seat's website and i dont have the option for the 1.5 150ps engine nor those alcantara seat, can anyone tell why or is seats UK website just crap?
Looking for a small daily driver, this looks really nice and have a good price. But it seems there is no automatic now, but coming later this year I see, either wait for that or go for an Audi A1 right now.
My Mk1 Focus has 520 liters of boot space.. I can't imagine a new one would be smaller... Jah, ok I'll admit it, it's a wagon... Not a boring one, though, a pretty rare ST170 in Fords famous Imperial Blue.
You're driving the brand new 1.5 TSI engine with VTG (a first for affordable petrol engines) and not a word about turbo lag or throttle response. Come on, man...
in a world where cars can drive themselves, where audis and mercedes communicate to other cars informing of dangers in a zone to other incoming cars, car reviewers are still stuck on reciting some data and speak about dashboards
In no way, its interesting, because it lost the old dynamic character of the MK II Focus, and feels too cramped inside for such a long car, stupid Ford engineers
Are you speaking from experience? ... the MKII was ugly and heavy compared to the MK1 and the MKIII in ST form is a good dynamic car to drive and a big seller worldwide. Ford designers and engineers aren't stupid but the 'bean counters' and so called 'ideas men' mess with the concept. I think they now understand the 'world car' concept was too much of a compromise and future models will have a more European set-up. And as for cramped, are you very fat? :-)
Nope, I am not even tall, but once I had to move 3, 5.9+ foot people in an MK III Focus and they hated it so much Then the same were transported in the new Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSI and to my surprise, despite the Skoda having shorter wheel base and dimensions it accommodated these people way better than in the Focus 2.0 TDCi, also the Skoda felt way more classy inside too despite being a class lower, and cheaper, also the mpg was better than Fords 1.0 ecoboost and overall the comfort was as good or better than what the MK III Focus cud give
Mk 3 Focus is a downgrade from Mk 2 Focus for sure in terms of practicality. Cabin and luggage space just disappeared somehow, ground clearance is reduced and IMHO Mk 2.5 Focus looked better than both of the Mk3 versions. Also handling (a major selling point for the Focus model) got worse with the electric steering.
@1:33 way to go seat, releasing press footage of the car running a stop sign on the turn lane;) who said they lost their Spanish flair since joining VW...
Was it a review? In my opinion not at all. It was just like you forgot to record a material and did it on the way to the airport. I would like to see if you can seat in the back comfortably. I'd like to see what is the fuel consumption. How noisy it is but use rather an Db-meter then your ears. Could you fit 4 people inside. How big and easy to access the boot is. I could go on and on. Can you mount a roof pack or bike mounts? Is aircon silent or wants to make you deaf?
I don't have kids nor do I plan on having any for many, many years. A car bumped up a size class just isn't going to give me all the features that the Ibiza has for the same amount of money. I just simply don't have a need for a bigger car than a supermini right now so why not? If I need to haul shit from Ikea like twice in a year I'll just borrow my father-in-law's Transit for the trip.
yeah soft touch materials are sooo expensive... what a bullshit... ofc it is more expensive, but not that much that the price would differ, only the bosses of VW would earn some 1.000€ less^^ good looking car, but a bit expensive for a seat...i am curious how the cupra will look like
It is so noisy that I can hardly hear what he is saying. Should he be driving in traffic with one hand on the wheel, gesticulating with the other and keeping looking away from the road?
The last Ibiza was also released on a new platform before the polo?! Way to go churnalist making a big deal out of nothing How do i know? i own one from the year the current polo wasn't released yet. It's from 2008.
Where was the microphone? Sounds like it was in his pocket. Mumble mumble mumble. Also not great looking at just one of the cameras - distracting. I've come away not really knowing much about the car. Lost interest.
No, we don't have a new king, because it's too slow. 150bhp is not enough power for those who want a "hot hatch" compromise without getting the far more ridiculous Cupra alternatives. It's currently too slow along side the 2017 Fiesta ST. There are those who care a little bit more about fun and a little bit less about fuel, whilst not wanting something insane like the Cupra.
Isn't that why the last model Suzuki Swift Sport was so highly rated, though? It had 134bhp, no turbo, but got excellent reviews. The new one goes to 138bhp and is turbocharged, so that might all change.
Why are all car reviewers obsessed with the dash being squishy. Nobody touches it, so what does it matter. We all know SEAT
Tucker couldn't agree more! As long as the touch points; steering wheel and gear lever are in nice soft leather that's all that matters. I don't get into my car and go around prodding the plastics to see if they feel cheap and hard.

One thing that should be squishy IS THE WINDOW SILLS!!! And it almost never is.
@@tomasmalin I orderd the eco one 1.0 FR same color with alcantara & leather seats and even leather on the dashboard ?... Wath else ?... ;-)
That's a handsome little city car.
Gorgeous car, great ride, brilliant infotainment system, so easy to use, bought over the polo for the better looks (imo), and so happy I did
All the reliability of a VW, but WAY sexier?
A home run here I think.
VW score among the worst in all reliability surveys.

well, you should send Seat and VW a letter, requesting to market Seat cars to Canada and north America... ;)

This gentleman can say Ibiza properly. Listen up kiddies!
Yes, Yes, Yes!
As someone who lives in the Balearic islands, I hate it when people pronounce it "EyeBeeza"
Its pronounced: "ibitha"
Hoping a Cupra model will happen - could be great. This new Ibiza in my opinion this the best looking super mini out there, the new fiesta has an awkward rear.
1:16 Must be a bloody decent car, after a minute of driving you were looking 10 years younger.

ordered me new Ibiza 2 days ago, cant wait! Fantastic car for the price actually!
Picking mine up next week FR in Black with all the extras can’t wait
"so quiet that you can hear the wind noise"
Good job auto journalist, you're making all the sense!
When a car is considered quiet, it's mainly because you can't hear wind noise in it. not the opposite.
adilator There's a difference between sound isolation and engine noise, his point was about the engine noise.
I've tested it last week and even though the statement is not logical, the car is really quiet inside.
I really like it. I'm 23 and would consider part ex my 2010 VW polo for one
What a beautiful car, and what a shame SEAT doesn't sell here in Brazil
About to order this FR, can't wait... have to wait... will wait...
i love it, just hoping that some options arent too expensive.. might be getting one soon!
i know it isnt, it'll be out around june for what i know. Orders are already available in my country
I pick my new one up on Sunday . this is my second one.great cars
Width of 1.78m is more like middle class sedan. Not a real mini hatch for a city.
But it will be a decent lightweight compact hatch.
Had a little problem with the sound (please use a mic), but liked the review and your comments, thank you!!

4:40 mid lane cruising? No, no, no . You would get a ticket from the police here. :D
Where is that, I think I want to move there! lol
Portugal, like most of the European countries I think, but in Portugal its definitely forbidden.
lapamful Barcelona.
Monteiro Well in Spain many people cruise in the left lane and still don't get a ticket. Very bad driving overall.
Monteiro ... Spanish born living in Portugal for the last 10 years here, big balls on that comment man.
What about the speakers why is not one talking about them I want to know if they come standard

How did he connect the GoPro to the car seat ?
Funny how pathetic the Ford Focus MK III was engineered, despite being a car of higher class it didnt even have space to rival a car from lower class
But still more interesting than a seat!

Amazing car.
Had my FR a week, love it...
I like everything except the fake exhaust trims a normal exhaust with twin tail pipes would have been better to one side like the 5f leon fr
What do you think about Moose test dear friends? I think ibiza get very bad results.
finally they get this car right
150 bhp in that car?! That's more then the Ford Fiesta
Looks great from the outside but those horrible cheap hard plastics inside, no not for me.
I wish there was an electric version as well. Would make so much sense in a car like this...
@1:33 way to go seat, releasing press footage of the car running a stop sign on the turn lane;) who said they lost their Spanish flair since joining VW...
That's not a stop sign. Thats the sign for 'No stopping'.
Great review, and great car. But please dont drive on the midle line...
Question is... will they do a 3dr version?
Probably not. Few companies have ditched 3 door versions due to lower sales of such and cutting costs.
Like recently Peugeot or Renault.
It's a shame, I think this car would look so much better in a 3dr version.

The test car in this video with all the options costs probably much more than 20.000€ why buy an Ibiza for that kind of money?

I literally couldn't care less about squidgey plastics
My god that guy is dull! Thankfully, the car isn't.
A very boring review, how about you park up and show us the car properly? Who wants to just watch someone talk while driving.
Nice car but I'd still have the new Micra.
The only one that challenges it on looks imo
it's not as stylish as the 3rd generation seat Ibiza. It's looks like a scaled down seat Leon which I suppose isn't a bad thing.
ibiFa? oke mate you are a car journalist I see

IBIZA not IBIFA there's no F in it -.-
it's pronounced Ibitha like he said.

No it's Spanish mate "z" is pronounced "th" google it, you might learn something

I'm a Spanish speaker and it doesn't sound right, it's "Ibizzza" not ibtha, Ibifa, Ibipha etc.
why is he saying "ibitha", but then "volksvagen" instead of "folks vagen"?

Ibitha.. lol
