High notes are flat but would still rather listen to this than any of our present crop of tenors. Thanks for posting.

I saw Nino Martini in La Boheme in Cleveland, Ohio in 1944. The company was the Philadelphia-La Scala Opera Co. His Mimi was the great Dorothy Kirsten. Years later - in about 1955 or 6 - I attended an Aida at the Verona Arena. The singers were Antonietta Stella, Simionato and Corelli. That arena holds about 10,000 people. I had the great fortune to sit next to Mr. Martini. He was very cordial. I of course mentioned the Boheme to him. That was the only Aida I've seen where the soprano received 3 different rounds of applause for O Patria Mia. I do not know if this is the same recording or not - but it was announced that the next week r. Martini would sing this excerpt from I Puritani. George Topinges

He sang with my neighbour soprano Vina Bovy at the Met in Traviata in 1937/38 season.

This recording is a half step lower. Sorry but I guess it was meant to be unreleased because Nino Martini hit the high E (not F) flat. I heard an Eb instead.
