Buying in another city is great but I personally would only buy something I could or would live in myself. It bothers me that people suggest rentvesting where you buy in some cheap regional city while living somewhere else. My feeling is that if your city cant or wont provide accomodation you can reasonably afford then you should vote with your feet and leave.
I disagree. You can rentvest when you are close to retirement and live where your job is because comute time is valuable time of your life..and then pay your piece of heaven and move there in 5 years. Perfectly doable. This works with rentvesting overseas too and buy a house in Holland or East of France and then you get the advantage of prolonging your life as you will eat really healthy food during your retirement. Dream bigger! 😊
