Nice to hear you mention the Cushmans. I actually found your channel looking for info on the Cushman CE-4. After seeing your old video on it I was gonna swap out all the power supply caps before even attempting to power it on but I suppose I'll actually buy a capacitance/esr meter and check them first before shotgun cap swapping. Thanks for the interesting content.

The Der-EE 5000 is worth a look. I found it to be easily accurate enough for my needs, the only drawback being the component fixture. You could make a much better one pretty easily, though, and the next significant step up is a lot more expensive (The Agilent/Keysight hand-held LCR).

I realigned a lot of GE and Motorola commercial two-way radios with that same model Singer back in the day. It's a great, robust and stable instrument.

I recently picked up one of these singer units in a lot with a couple cushmans. I’ll be subscribing to your channel and am interested in any content you put out about them! As part of my local vol. fire department I hope to use this equipment to do some basic test and alignment work on older pagers and radios i use. (As well as for ham radio stuff)

I saw one of these at a hamfest. The seller said it did not work. I didn't buy it because I probably would not be able to repair it. Now I wish I would have picked it up.

Hi Richard, The complete service and operator manuals for this device are available on the internet. They are fairly easy to repair and are a useful addition to any rf bench.

Hi, The complete service manual for this instrument is downloadable on the internet for free. It has a detailed circuit description section. I didn't go into more detail as the video would get too long. If you have one these units be sure and check the serial number on the front of the manual and compare it to yours. The two manuals I have are for different series. One is for numbers 301 and above. The other is for 701 and above. I noticed slight changes in the ODM-1 plugin circuit .

"Frequency Synthesis and Design" Manesheiwitz wrote the 'bible'. Gave my copy to local Penn State campus library a few years ago. Engineering text, not for the faint of heart. Everything from the basics to shielding, noise, PLL's, phase detectors, rubidium/cesium standards...
Multiplication by fractional divide, mix divide, double mix divide, DDS etc with actual schematics/explanations of sota instruments (up to 80's ?). If you can find a copy - BUY IT - I'm sorry I gave mine away (can't give you ISBN or publisher ~400pages)

Thanks Jim, I will keep my eyes open. A lot of my older books seem to be my favorite. @@jim9930
