I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Casey made sure to correct Tiff when they were talking about baggage. “Oh I wasn’t even considering Isaac as the baggage...I was talking more like emotional trauma and stuff...”

My mom was a single mom for 8 years and then she met my Dad. Yes, he’s my step dad. But, to me he’s Dad. He took me in and truly loved my mom and I. Let me tell you Casey, I appreciate my Dad so much and he really made me a better person. The love he’s given me throughout my years has stuck with me forever. To be loved by a family who isn’t blood, but still accepts me and my mom as there own is such a blessing. I’m now 26 and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love my Dad and I love that he loves me so much. I even have some of his mannerisms which is funny lol

9:30 I knew as soon as Tiff heard about how welcoming Casey's parents were of her and Isaac, the tears were coming! 🥺 Tiff really loves his parents so much (10:16) and I'm happy she found that love that was probably missing in her life. The whole family is blessed. 💛☺️

As a man who also took on a life with a pre-made family I will say that not once have I referred to my children as Step Kids. They are all my kids. The love and care I have for them are no different than my own. On November 2nd we will be celebrating 42 years of happiness together. I wish you many years of happiness.

The first part of what they talked about really stood out to me, about Casey being stoic and hard to read emotionally. Idk if it's an Asian thing, but I totally have had that problem with 2 of my past partners that were Asian.
Rarely did I know what they were thinking or feeling because their expressions were very non-existent. Even being vulnerable was like trying to figure out a puzzle. Only when we argued or broke up did I know what they actually felt - the depth and emotion part.
I personally couldn't be patient for years for either of them to learn to be more expressive and show love/feelings. But it's interesting to see them talk about it. it just reminded me of those similarities.

I had an asian partner who didn't express his feelings a lot of the times, the first two years of our relationship whenever I told him how much I loved him and how much he meant to me he just said "you don't have to seduce me, I already fell for you" and then fast forward to 4th-7th year of the relationship we got into long distance relationship and everytime I said I missed him he wouldn't say it back because he said saying it back to me would make him miss me even more, what kinda nonsense is that? lol. my love language is words of affirmation so expressing feelings through words is very important for me and not hearing those words made me feel unloved. when he got angry with me he would just give me the silent treatment for days, it made me feel unappreciated and the communication just became horrible each day.

@@katherinep708 What you mentioned sounds eerily familiar. I remember I would say "I love you", and one of them would say, "yes :)"... with a big smile, that looked kind of condescending, but I was thinking... umm, okay?.
I would get that too, where he would say, "you don't have to say I love you, I'm hear aren't I." Like wtf... then when we would argue and borderline breaking up did I hear all the "I love you, I can't believe you don't see how much I loved you." I think, maybe culturally, acts of service and gifting is their love language. Learning to show it is something that they have to learn for years, even decades to express and show.
The silent treatment and stonewalling is the worst. After experiencing it, I just left. I'm all about space during a disagreement, but to completely do it for days... that's toxic. Expecting that you'd be there at the end of their stubbornness... I just ended it right then and there. No matter how much they wanted to come back, I couldn't let that happen.

@@ElonicLights Oh, yeah, me coming from a Latin American household where we are very expressive through dancing, affection, passion, etc.; it's something I couldn't live with. Felt too stale and distant for me. but maybe it's just a difference in culture.

definitely an asian thing. i'm an asian female but even i'm pretty stoic in my own way too i can never express or show affection in the "stereotypical" and "normal" way whether it be verbally or physically because it was just non existent in my household growing up. but instead i do it by being of service and care for people around me quietly. everybody has their own way with showing affection, love and care towards others and that's fine.

I know the feeling I'm a step dad. And just recently we had a son together and it's been even more awesome. Sounds bad but I fell in love with my step son before I fell in love with his mom. Lol

First time commenting.. Tiff & Case thank you for much for sharing with us your perspectives on parenting, family, and personal growth. RUclips needs more authentic content like this that encourages adults like yourself to open up, unpack, and reflect. Too many family/couple vloggers focus on material or attention-grabbing content for them views. Especially today when therapy is so inaccessible, content like yours can have a wonderful impact on people who have a hard time communicating with their partners and struggle to verbalize their emotions. Please continue what you're doing...
