How is this a democracy when architects of the constitution prohibited the public from participating in it's inception? You still can't vote for your choice of president and the other people in positions of political power. The constitution must be amended to remove party political strategems like coalition and corruption at grassroots. If a politician is elected by the people and doesn't perform then they should be replaced immediately! Do you have that freedom to express dissatisfaction and exact change asap?

DA continuity coalition? Oh so things have got so much better under the ANC? The million houses were built in Alex? And nationalised companies here are ALL bankrupt and dysfunctional. DA have loadshedding 2 stages lower than any other province, looking for 4 stages lower. It's the only functioning province. Yes there are messy townships. There are townships elsewhere, too. But look what happened to Knysner when ANC/EFF/PA took over. It was lovely. 6 months later there's no water and sewerage running down the streets. Filthy.
The bit on the continuity coalition and further privatisation is unfounded. Disappointed to see this sort of view being peddled, especially at this point in the process.

Jamie, how about a RAINBOW COALITION with DA+MK+EFF+IFP+PA. I think that would balance stakes, normalise negotiations, and have Parties policing each other for the next 5 years, thereby performing on Service delivery!!

Nothing is certain with any Coalition, whether it's formed on the Extreme Right or the Extreme Left. My guess is if a Coalition is balanced out and without a distinct Huge Big Brother. Then we would see True Democracy as Parties will police each other
The people vote for certain values and promises. It's the party's job within coalition to overlap those values and determine the best course of action within a certain level of compromise to deliver what was promised.
As of now, everyone want basic necessities. Clean water, electricity, basic education, less unemployment/more jobs and control on the illegal migration policy. The more sensitive topics are NHI and appropriation of land without compensation
There is 5 years to make some headway in this.
I think a coalition between the DA and MK ? Zille and Zuma are old friends.

Follow the national party model, the state enterprises worked well, kept prices low, created great work opportunities. State must just stop being so corrupt, then state owned is the best option

@@neillbarnard1072 yes you are right if Eskom was failing because of incompetence of staff but no Eskom is failing because we have a business man who is the president who wants to sell it so that he can have shares in that company which will buy Eskom. So my point is from that angle. Proof just before elections there was no load shedding because he knew he will loose votes.

Sir, I think the narrative you shared about privatization in the Thames Water debacle is missing a specific context we face here. In the UK, there are many water companies delivering services and the people vote by switching service providers. What do you think will happen to your customers if you give them bad service in this context of multiple service options? Here, we're facing the collapse of public services and private efforts are required to keep going (private efforts means even people who have to cart containers of water to their neighbours, not just companies). In the absence of a competent public service, the government needs to start structuring sustainable private empowerment so that people dont sit with zero service options. Its not all or nothing; private empowerment doesnt mean government no longer does any form of service delivery, it should maintain the infrastructure upon which service gets delivered and especially drive service in developmental areas that private operators would not find economically viable. Using the UK isnt a good example. Use Post Office...should we shut down Postnet and all the couriers because government must have a monopoly on delivering letters? It doesnt have to be all or nothing, there is such a thing as capitalism that doesnt start at zero.

SA has been preparing the ground for this change. Tells me that the ANC knew exactly what the people want, just that they were betting on TIME and the peoples ignorance but thanks to parties like the EFF which really shaped how many people think and that may be the reason why we've been so glued on polls lately. Like how the ANC first supported the land expropriation Bill, then went AWOL, and came back after Joining BRICS being somewhat Anti-West. We saw them talking LAND again, standing against the West when it comes to issues like arresting Putin during the BRICS Summit, Israel VS Palestine......... I for one believe in the ANC-EFF/MK coalition more than the DA. I see trends not some random acts but I also see FEAR from the people. FEAR of a swift and radical change. We all know what we want, but we are divided in our approach of taking it.
Ramaphosa is the reason the ANC its in this situation, so he has lost power in the ANC. He would not have influence on who to go into coalition with. My sense is that they might look at either EFF or MK Party but I would the MK Party option may give the ANC a chance to attract back their lost voters who voted for MK Party.

Before the Parties make any decisions they must get a feeling of what the general public wats putting out the pros and cons just like you did , I'm sure there's a way of measuring how people feel about the coalitions eg party branches may bring up some valuable information. I fore one would really want to see an independent person being put as a president and having the ANC , EFF and MK Party forming a coalition the best performer will emerge in 5years and none of the Parties will blame a president for their failures. The 3 parties I mentioned have one thing in common that's getting land back to the people that must be the key factor in deciding who to form a coalition with. Cause the world and all its money see how destructive anc eff and mk are as they all the same. They don't need to work with south africa and prob won't if those 3 are together. Its too unstable and too dangerous with what's been happening with anc and its cadres.
But there's a bigger elephant in the room. As at 17:11, I see 71.3% of voting districts complete and yet the total number of valid votes is standing at approx. 10.330 million , much lower than the total number of registered voters at 27.782 million. And this too is lower than the estimates for the total number of people that were eligible to register to vote. This is very telling about the level of faith that South Africans have in our politics, and to a certain extent our democracy. But we'll see if this trend will change under the era of coalitions, or if politicians will still continue pursue their own self-interests, but under even tougher conditions that call for more intense gate-keeping.

Going forward the EFF needs a leadership change and refine it policies to be more in line with what concerns the average Black South AFRIKANS. Promoting & encouraging influx of immigrants into South Afrika was a FATAL mistake. A more level-headed and pragmatic person need to replace MALEMA as leader of the EFF.
