anyone who says he's copying Chief Keef doesn't understand...he's reviving that 2012 Sosa energy and revitalizing a sound I remember discovering in high school...by way of imitating someone else's sound, he may not be inventing anything new, but he's reinventing everything...by simply mixing Trap and Drill with Black Metal and Witch House the Haunted Mound crew is aligning themselves alongside City Morgue...the hip hop groups who noticed there was fan overlap happening inbetween their genre, and the rock genres they listen to...this is how you make it in music, Sematary is a very smart artist who understands culture, he can recognize that nobody is mixing these sounds, but people were enjoying them, he realized people would like songs that sounded like Keef rapping over Havohej type beats...the lesson to learn here, is that if you want to forge a similar path as he has, you have to figure out what people are doing, but even more importantly, what nobody is doing, pay close attention to trends that we all focus on and how they change over time, if you find yourself wondering why there isn't anyone making a certain type of music but there are people who like two subgenres that haven't been connected yet . . . you may have just figured it all out

@@LILREMAlNS the way sematary sings is very reminiscent of early cold hart and gbc in general. While he doesn’t directly take his flows like he does with chief keef (outside of a few songs like reverence taking from in yr gucci bag) that monotone style of singing over glo/trap/witch house beats is the defining sound of cold hart up until the peep/tracy days of gbc. While of course sematary doesn’t take from them in every aspect i think it is his most direct influence so he cites chief keef, salem, lean, etc as his main inspirations to not draw attention to his more foundational influences so he doesn’t seem like he is copying them (not that i necessarily believe he is copying them but it could certainly be interpreted as that). that’s also why I believe that he was eager to associate himself with tracy when he started to get attention from him despite tracy’s allegations and how outspoken sematary is about his beliefs, because gbc (and mainly the early days) were so influential to him to have a key member support him he couldn’t not reciprocate
with that being said tho im still a big fan of sematarys early work and don’t think he stole from them but i do believe he intentionally doesn’t credit them and since they are a large influence on his sound and deserve there credit for their influence. also worse pointing out that while i mentioned cold hart mostly that’s because of his beat selection for the most part, wicca phase is just as if not more influential on the actual vocal delivery
"I can never remember the names cause it's black metal" spoken like a true poser! Dude grifts metal, brags about not crediting bands he samples when publishing his own tracks.
@@lategod I guess you don’t realize that in nearly all of sematary’s work before screaming forest, prolly the majority of his songs made use of black metal samples. he’s been photographed wearing black metal band shirts (emperor, mutiilation), he’s had jj valhalla make him crust pants with black metal patches on them (mutiilation, xasthur, darkthrone + more but jj took the post down), a lot of his older logo artwork and music video visuals he commissioned an artist in the black metal scene to do, who he then ripped off twice by just using the artwork when the guy sent it to him and never paid for it. multiple sematary logos are in a black metal logo style as is much of his general aesthetic (at least in the past). obviously the interviewer asking sematary about black metal is no mistake or random coincidence - he built his career off the music to a certain degree, and it’s really lame to see that he obviously does not truly enjoy the music like you think he would, which is why I called him a poser and yes him not liking black metal that much is exactly the problem considering he’s literally profited off the scene, or rather grifted.
@@cajunstratjr yeah it’s a big part of his aesthetic for sure but he credits the samples in a lot of stuff. but i think that’s all it is. if he was super into black metal as much as he’s into black kray he would’ve probly never been a rapper. i personally don’t wear band shirts that i don’t listen too and always remember songs that i actually like but i wouldn’t say they’re the reason he has fans. most his fans are cloud rap fans.
