Huh....that's actually pretty clever. I mean considering stuff like Sweetie Bird's influence from Bob Clampett, Furrball's influence from Chuck Jones, and Little Beeper's influence from the W7 era of all things, I can't believe I never realized that.

I agree Babs is like the secret weapon of Tiny Toons. She's half the appeal of the show. Now I actually like Buster too, I think he's a good contrast to Babs, he's also a likable person to be around for the most part, and a nice "tourists guide" (I mean, how he often gives "tutorials" to the audience about Acme Acres at the beginning of some episodes). His design fits very well an icon of a show, the red shirt drives attention into him, that also makes him a nice looking character to play as in the Konami games.
Honestly, i never really liked babs, she was kind of like an annoying bitch without any real substance, she was original but I think she more of a character that kinda is annoying but not really on accident and more for the sake of it, I liked buster bc he's more dim and more of a friendly bugs bunny but even he gets annoyed and not really having good contrasts with her, even he kinda acts like a jerk with babs when he's with her. I think a good character buster can be a duo with in the reboot is plucky, while buster is less like bugs, plucky is more like an extreme daffy and instead of being a duo with a gullible like Hampton, a character who can tolerate him like buster could be more fun to watch than babs. I see him as the secret weapon of the show more than her bc plucky has more episodes on himself and is more marketed than babs.
Agreed, its honestly nice to have a protagonist that isn't just a plain as white bread straightman, which makes Buster one of the few protags I'll happily chose in games(helped by the fact that in some of them, he follows the Sonic fighting game principle in subverting the jack of all trades). And all around, Buster and Babs are a great duo to watch in action.
Babs is pretty unique since Buster would mostly emulate Bugs, one of Buster's funny line is "That's funny, that worked for Bugs Bunny." When he fails to do the Mexican slap on the muscular flea like how Bugs did it to the Tauros.
Fun Fact: When they were working on the summer vacation movie, WB studio heads wanted to release it in theaters but Steven Spielberg insisted on a direct to video release because, at the time, DTV movies had a bad reputation as being cheaply made, poorly written garbage and he wanted to prove that it was possible to make a good one if you actually bothered to put in the effort. All these years later, WB Animation still makes superior DTV movies so they obviously took his ambition to heart.
The idea that Tiny Toons was lesser known and just a stepping stone to Animaniacs always confused me as I thought they were very similarly that top quality wacky Looney Tunes revival humor that I loved. it certainly is flawed, like slapstick where characters get hurt don't work really as well. I got into both Tiny Toons and Animaniacs when I was 11 back when they aired the shows on The Hub. I also gravitated more to Tiny Toons than Animaniacs, I believe it's because of how much I love the art style of the show and how Animaniacs had its problems with some of their shorts being not as great as others, like I remember disliking the Mindyand Buttons shorts due to how formulaic they were and how Buttons always got in trouble at the end.
I watched Tiny Toon Adventures during its original airing. The pilot episode "The Looney Beginning" aired as a prime time special on CBS on September 14, 1990, while the series itself ran on first-run syndicated weekdays in its first two seasons in 1990-1992, but mostly on Fox stations, was moved exclusively to Fox in 1992 as part of Fox Kids during the final season, was cancelled in 1993, reruns aired for two seasons until 1995, and then it moved to Nickelodeon for Syndicated Reruns in September 1995 (had an exclusive special called “Night Ghoulery”) to 1999. It even came to Kids' WB! from 1997 to 2000, Cartoon Network also aired the show from 1999 to 2001, then returned to Nickelodeon for an additional 2 more years from 2002 until it remained there in 2004, on Nicktoons Network from 2004 to 2005, In October 2002, Viacom and Amblin had a falling out, and Amblin was not able to reach a deal with AOL Time Warner, so it remained out of Syndication Circuit for 11 years until 2013, on The Hub (now Discoverly Family) from 2013 to 2015. I know all about TTA. I was very much around for its original debut back in ‘90.
I kinda have a softspot for kennedy cartoon, cause, as you said, it does kinda work a bit like a crash curse on different animation studios and Kennedy cartoons is like the easiest to spot. Even in other shows, like I certainly saw them in goof trope and darkwing duck as well. XD And honestly, I'm kinda pessimistic about the reboot. Modern cartoon reboot rarely work and the maker of the show being so dumb and making Babs and Buster siblings is already a red flag that this is another show made by people who have no actual respect for the original. Now that I think about what they did with Dot, I'm even more worried about what they do with poor Babs. also Elmyra is one of my fav. characters as well. Just a great idea of taking Fudds hunting obssession to cuddle obssession is kinda genius. Not to mention the writters and animation having an excuse to beat the shit out of an annoying little brat XD
I don't get the dislike for the Kennedy animations. Sometimes they're not good depending on the animator, but the clip used in this video from the first episode is well done even though the character designs are more cutesy.
I really love the kennedy cartoons animation. Everybody should direct their hate towards Freelance or Encore Cartoons which look way more cheap and stilted and bad. I'd honestly rather the animation be more wacky and off-model than just have it stilted and lazy.
