I don't understand this: If electron affinity is negative then we are providing the energy to the atom to accept the electron then , doesn't ionisation energy have same definition. The amount of energy require for an atom to accept electron. ?????????
We cannot provide negative energy, supply of energy is always positive and hence ionisation energy and electron affinity are negative of each other but terms used are different due to supply of energy.
