That dog has probably single handedly prevented anyone from wanting to purchase the second house. I could not listen to that all day without going insane lol
I live a 20 min drive from Atami up the mountain side for last 15 years, it is a beautiful area. The mountain views, close to beachside access it's the best of both worlds. Drive up Izu Skyline for breathtaking sights you'll see what I mean. There is revitalization of the city the past 5-10 years, economic development, modernizing old buildings, new younger business ventures coming in. Only thing is on holidays, the traffic is getting heavier on Route 1. But, it's expected as a new generation is coming to appreciate this area to get away from the craziness of Tokyo.
I used live in a house like these home. Front facing the ocean, back facing the mountains. When the house was brand new, everything seemed like a dream but after 2 to 3 years it became a nightmare. Living so close to the ocean takes high maintenance. Almost 90% humidity all year round. All the light bulbs have water trapped inside and won’t last more than 3 months. Big ass insects and creatures everywhere. We had 2 domestic helpers and still couldn’t keep up with the cleaning and maintenance. Moles spreading everywhere faster than you can wipe your ass. So there are pros and cons to think about before you consider purchasing your oceanfront dream house. 😂
There is no way a house would last long near any body of water. It's a bad purchase for these houses. It's like buying a boat. Super high maintenance cost.
@@parrolet5774 I am living in HK for the moment, the prices of these houses you will get a shoebox in HK. Basically I am a mortgage slave. My last mortgage payment I will be 68 years old . I probably will be working still the day I died.

@@Verbalaesthet You’re correct. But I’m factoring in plans regarding my children and my father who is currently having health issues among other things in my life.
We loved Atami. When you come out from the station and walk to you right there are some great under cover food markets. Just delicious. It is a great area.
We head down to Atami every time we visit Japan because they have a fireworks display at the beach every month rain or shine. It's nice to be able to catch a fireworks show even outside of the season.
I think Atami has a lot of potential though many buildings were built during bubble era, ie pretty old. But if rebuildable, good value to purchase the land. Close from Tokyo too. But earthquake risk always looms.
Wow I can’t believe your in Atami. I spent 2 hours last night reviewing homes on athome. I should say condos. I hope you’ll have part two or three in Atami. Love that city’s vibe. It looks like Atami is a great beach town to live in or rent. My only catch would to be sure the complex allows short term rentals or I probably would move on to the next resort. Cheers.
I like how he said it's a 12 minute walk to the station so you might need a car and here I am in the US and it's longer than 12 minutes just to walk to my neighbors house lol.
I found the 4th property online beforehand and saved it as well since it looked pretty promising, especially the location from Atami station and the car parking space Unfortunately still need a few years to save up the money for the big step, but looking around for houses even now is really fun already Keep up with the videos, enjoying every bit of them!
I was hoping to see more of the first property - looks like it might have potential, and the fees would seem reasonable (well, as compared to the US for sure). Marc - from Georgia USA
nice to see you are back in atami again, i still remember you did a hillside ocean view blue sea condo before, it's on my bucket list. oh snap, you are back at that exact condo place i've been wanting before, bro, hook me up. property 2 is also kinna nice, as you can rebuild it, though, as a vacation home, it's still in a decent shape as is
I like how you described that the one home can be pulled down and a new one built at a good price. That 3rd property was strange. It seemed to have odd angles inside. Carpeted stairs??? The walls look to be painted... which I prefer to the paper only way homes seem to be built in Japan.
Love the area, very nice houses you found ! I like the second one for the price/location/aesthetics and the land area for some gardening, together with the possibility for nice renovations. Seriously contemplating the idea to buy a house in Atami as my first (or maybe second property in Japan). Maybe I will contact you soon :)
The problem with many people when shooting a selfie video using a cell phone is that they moved around a lot just way too much, and they think the constantly moving screen causing 'memai' dizziness and nausea is ok ??!!
The second one would concern me a little. It’s old and made of wood, not confident of it being able to survive many more quakes. Although cheap to scrap and rebuild, I wonder if it’s not more efficient just buying a plot of land? I think Atami is nice, but you really need a car, and the bloody freeway to get there always gets congested. Anyway, thanks for the tours!
6:39 What's that thing hanging down, please? And for most of the houses, the sea view would be nicer if it wasn't so obscured by other properties, or were a bit closer, like the initial apartment. That view was incredible. They might not like my loud music, though 😬
House 1: Heavy HOAs, but probably the best view - unobstructed, so I would go with this one if I had no other choice. Why live there if you can't see the ocean except through a mass of wires or a "peek-a-boo" view that you wish offered more. Good prices, generally.
Probably the first one. If I am travelling back and forth between Japan and another country, you always have at the back of your mind things like roof leaks while you are away. But in first building which seems to be like an apartment block, there is less chance of this happening and there is likely regular maintenance on the building.
At 11:44, you looked at the date of the calendar and said someone was just here, are they still living here? Are there issues with squatters breaking into the house if you leave the country for a few months?

Hi, I am fan and after so many months decided to use your services last week by filling your web application. Funny thing is I got rejected without any explanation so I am confused as to why you do all these works and reject clients, I have the cash, the time, the willingness and no one call or ask me anything after the application. Just a simple rejection from this guy Ivan Geoverdi. Please explain.
The dog barking killed the serenity of the location at that second property!

Buying these houses at that price range is a bargain. It’s great for after retirement. Its just take times, efforts and commitment to maintain.

I agree with you on #2. The architecture resonates with me; sort of California Contemporary.
I absolutely love the second property! All the natural wood inside is gorgeous!
Glad you liked it!
9:45 3rd property was very loud outside, you can hear the train. For that price Ill buy 5-15 Akiya homes and fix them up myself....

Two months worth of japan salary going to HOA is no go. Too much to pay yearly.
But only ¥3.5m. to purchase, so figure that in. It's like renting.
I’m staying away from the ocean for homes due to what tsunamis can cause.
