Really?? I'm looking at getting one! Do you love it? Any other mods you've done? Seem like nobody makes hardly anything as far as performance upgrades (cold air/sequential exhaust)
Great video! Love the amount of detail. I'm looking at a 14 town and country. But stupid question lol if it doesn't support disks how do you play videos on the rear screens?
DJ, thanks for the tutorial. We basically have the exact van. I'm torn on upgrading the head unit. I'm really dissapointed with the factory Infinity system in the van. It just sounds super flat and lacks any kind of bass. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much sound quality improvement was accomplished by upgrading the head unit? Did the Pioneer wake the highs and lows up at all?
Hey man great video could we get a update video and does your gt have the sub woofer in the back and the microphones in the rear view mirror and if it does once everything was connected did it work like it did with the previous radio?
Yeah so it did have the subwoofer, all worked as it should with no issues integrating into the factory amplifier. I did have some issues with my phone trying to connect to the OG Uconnect system when a voice call came through rather than the new head unit, but this can easily be remedied by disassociating the phone with the old system (I forgot to do and didn't think of this solution for a long time haha). The factory controls all worked, including the steering wheel controls. The new unit came with a microphone that I installed above the rearview mirror. It never sounded as clear as the original built in microphone, but perhaps I chose a noisy mounting location - not sure .
@DJ Tress I installed a similar radio with the same style kit, and I put the mic in the pocket beneath the single DIN opening, off to the left of the pocket. It's hidden enough by the screen and still pics up my voice well and is shielded from any wind. The center by mirror can sometimes be a noisy area. The drivers window pillar would be my 2nd choice after the pocket. I fed the mic connector into pocket and out one of the 2 holes in the back of the pocket & then easy plug into the radio. Another quick tip when connecting RCA's for cameras is to give it a quick single wrap with electric tape. Nothing worse than pushing it all back in the dash and one comes unplugged in the process and you have to disassemble it again.
I’m trying to order the wording harness and I’m not quite sure why it doesn’t say anything about adding to cart? If anyone knows how I can purchase it please help
I have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan crew minivan and my radio has not been working for a while now I am searching for a replacement but I can’t get the old one out to see if the cables are loose or not, I have already unscrewed the 4 screws holding it and I still can’t get it out
@@dtress1983 I wiggled and pried at it still nothing, I even asked my brother for help and he couldn’t get it to move either it’s like they super glued it
I am almost 100% certain that the adapter I used had all of the factory video cables included in the harness. If you use a company like crutchfield to place your order, they should be able to verify that for you.
Quick question There is a big connector with only two wires that plugs in the back of the stock radio Do you know what is that for? I’m using a Maestro Rr with the Ch1 harness The Ch1 harness comes with one big black connector with two wires and they are label OBDII
Im sure you have already resolved this issue, sorry - I don't check back that often. If my memory serves me correctly and you say that it says OBDII, then I believe this cable allows the display of vehicle specific gauge / real time data. I did not use OBDII function
www.crutchfield.com/p_794HRRCH1/iDatalink-HRN-RR-CH1-Factory-Integration-Adapter-ADS-MRR-module-also-required.html Here is the link, however this all depends on what media receiver you ultimately choose and whether or not you will be using the iData maestro. I recommend using the chat feature on crutchfield to talk with a technician. Often when you choose to purchase a head unit on crutchfield they will recommend the necessary harnesses in that process. Hope this helps
Thanks Charles, I did run the aftermarket microphone and the GPS antenna. The microphone cable I ran along the windscreen and placed it up near the rearview mirror and I actually put the GPS antenna on the front of the dash near were the windshield and dash meet. Apparently the GPS antenna must be installed in order to use the wireless carpal, so I did not anticipate that. Also, I am not really a big fan of the wireless CarPlay, it cuts out a lot. I am going to check soon to see if it is my fault, or if it really is so weak. Thanks for your comment.
Hey there, thanks for making this video. This is really helpful stuff. I just bought a 2020 Caravan and am pretty much looking to copy your choices here for replacing the head unit. Now that it's been a few months, do you have any other comments or concerns to mention? How has the day-to-day functionality been with the new head unit? And also, do all of the steering wheel controls work normally with these new units (assuming they are installed correctly with all adapters)? For instance, the bluetooth / voice command button? And finally, did you end up replacing the rear-view camera with something higher quality? I know... lots of questions... And you mentioned in your video you wouldn't be reading the comments too closely, but one can hope.. Thanks.
It’s been really great! I still need to upgrade the speakers and amplifier, this is partially because the head unit alone really helped to give life to the current setup. It’s not great without upgraded speakers, but it’s much better than it was with the factory receiver
I only have the 2019 SXT model of the G R A N D. C A R A V A N so I guess I have to say it even slower and lower. 😔 I am about to do a fairly similar install with a 10.1" screen so wanted to see if you found it obstructed with the gear shift lever. I hated how my UConnect always defaulted to the SAT radio when ever the key was turned off. I have the ilink Maestro in another vehicle and connecting into the OBD2 port and getting the vehicle info was why I made the investment. Is the cable assembly you purchased so to get the OEM back up Cam feed the PAC CHYRVD ? Thanks for taking the time posting this video.
I do not believe you will find the gear shift lever obstructed by a 10.1 screen - the 9" isn't even close to being a problem, so I don't think that a 10 would be an issue. I believe the back-up cam required the iDatalink HRN-AV-CH1 Factory Integration Adapter. Mind you, the picture quality is terrible with the factory camera.. I plan to change this soon. Will you be upgrading other audio components too, or just the receiver? Thanks for watching/commenting

anyone get the idataLink Maestro HRN-AV-CH1 to actually work with the rear seat monitor? in a town and country etc.
With the iData, can you still use the Dodge/Mopar app to remote start your van? Or is that even possible with a Caravan? Thanks for any reply.

Yes it will but he needs to modify the cut off power after ignition is off
Decent video. Just please stop with all the goofy sound effects
Yeah, its excessive
More effects
How much did you spend on the audio headunit,? And where did you get it from ?
I paid 1195 for the pioneer head unit alone and then a couple hundred for the iData maestro and harnesses.
Looks ok, but a big run around for you.
