Seeing the smiles and laughter while they’re doing the activities warms my heart. Sometimes young children and older people are not that different in terms of the activities they enjoy, but we must remember to respect their dignity.
This is wonderful. An absolute inspiration, though I am surprised there have been so few views. The fact that dementia is a growing problem, and most carers learn by trial and error how to care for their charges, so often results in needless anxiety for both sides. Guidance about fun activities which can occupy, stimulate and exercise both those with dementia and the carers, and even involve friends and the family is a fantastic contribution. Thank you for posting this video.
Lovely. My brother has a rare form of dementia PCA Bensons syndrome. His sight is affected, his vision distorts surroundings and objects. He loves music and damcing, he walks constantly. I hooe one day scientist eill find a cure for all types of dementia.
I go to a dementia dance With my mum and we don’t nee to sit to dance we treat our dances as if it was a family birthday party with out the food no flashing lights we have a screen playing al the old music videos 50 60 70 80 and we do action music too we do line dancing too
Very inspirational! May we please have the titles of the music used? They’re perfect to use in our dementia exercise group. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I'm really being touched by the activities you've shared. I want to learn further about seniors exercises. I want to help elders in my country, Indonesia, to enjoy their ages. Do have license or training to get certified trainers, for examples? Please let me know further more. I have passion for elders. Thank you..
Hi Ms Alison, its really helps alot your video specially im working here in Alzheimers Dse Association-Singapore. Do you come up with music playlist in your activitity.? Hope you share more some information and activities your Dementia. GodBless.
Hi Davinia, this was a project we did some years ago funded by the arts council. The trainer was a very inspirational lady called Diane Ammas. We devised our own sessions from this but we have also found Circle dancing to be very useful as well.
I have recently started as a volunteer at my local hospital on the dementia ward, helping out with a weekly 'love to move' session. This is an inspirational video. Anyone know where I could find the strap on tap dancing shoes? I would also like to find a training course near me.
