Roland touched the 4, which is not a foul in this tournament. And since it is cue ball fouls only, and the 4 didn't touch the cueball, there's no foul and it is still Roland's turn. There was no cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct going on.
Doesn't look like Deschaines "temperament" hasn't changed since his hiatus, until it does he will remain at the same level, he has the potential to be a top player, he needs to get it together, because time doesn't slow down for anybody!

I can hear Mike call, too, which is good. you can also see a look from Roland like he is trying to look maybe unsure, which is why a player should be sure if they are contesting a call, otherwise, it looks dishonest. if it's fowl on all balls, as it is in straight pool, as it should be at a level of competition such as this, where in this case, you shouldn't just be allowed to put stuff wherever you want unless it's in the course of a legal shot. no part of your tip should go through anything but air until it hits the cue ball.
Mike is looking very healthy and good glad to see that haven't heard much about him lately last I heard he was selling windows or something like that lol but his Fargo rating is pretty damn strong
His fargo stayed the same, around 800 but more and more players passed him. Years ago he made some nasty Facebook remarks about a couple of player's wifes, like SVB and Shaw and got tossed out of the Mosconi cup. And since that's all Matchroom he missed out on pretty much every event after. He should have been a top 10 player but due to his nasty attitude he had to pick up another job. I've talked to players from poolhalls all over the country where he's no longer welcome because of his behavior there in the last few years.

The biggest difference I can see is the timed format. Players may win by winning the race, or by having more games ahead by the time the clock runs out. For example, race to 7, and the score is currently 5 to 4. Match time runs out. The player with 5 games is declared the winner.

The balls and table (9 footer for C 8-ball) are the same except the pockets are cut like snooker pockets in an actual C 8-ball table. They seemed to like it-never saw them play anything else.

Dechaine gets a lot of shit and he certainly earned it back in the day. But idk, I'm kind of glad to see him at the table. Like him or not, he's a great player. If he's adjusted his attitude during his time away, I'm definitely in favor of him getting another shot (say, on the Mosconi team). Remember that Albin Ouschan used to be the Mike Dechaine of Europe - hair-trigger, moody, would get down on himself and act out. Albin worked on that and is now one of Europe's favorite players. Maybe Dechaine has that in him, too. Wouldn't that be awesome? The US needs more high-level players, and Dechaine is one of them. Imo, don't dismiss him just yet. Personally, I'd love it if he has chilled out and he's back to stay. It bears repeating: We desperately need more high-level, active players in the US.

Getting down on yourself and being an unlikeable asshole are two different things. Mike can't and won't change his personality, which is what his problem is. He's the epitome of overly competitive, in his mind, it's not only about who's the better player, but who can prove their worth as human being by winning a pool game. Have you watched the TAR match Shane vs Douchaine? It really shows how much of a conceded, fumbling asshole Mike is. Pool is better off without him. Period.
commentators should get eyes checked. good they aren't refs, though. glad Roland didn't contest the call, but just the same, he knew he'd touched regardless of how slight the movement was... sincehe couldn't get through the place in/on the cue ball, that he'd have liked to, might have looked better for him if he'd have stopped himself.

In a situation like that, you call the ref before the attempt is made. What could a ref do after a suspected foul?
Roland touched the 4, which is not a foul in this tournament. And since it is cue ball fouls only, and the 4 didn't touch the cueball, there's no foul and it is still Roland's turn. There was no cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct going on.
