  • ✝️ “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4 verse 1, New King James Version of the Bible
This overnight adventure began at the Meadow Creek trailhead off Beckler River Road near Skykomish, Washington. The trail stretches 6.5 miles to Fortune Ponds where we took a long lunch break and explored the area before continuing up to Frozen Finger Gap (Pass). Just on the other side of Frozen Finger Gap is Pear Lake, about 8 miles from the Trailhead. We spent one night at Pear Lake and then retraced our steps back to the Meadow Creek Trailhead.
This is a peaceful area except for the 1/4 mile stretch where several wasps decided to build nests right in or beside the trail. Almost everyone we met got stung multiple times as did we. Other than the wasps, it was an enjoyable trip through two wilderness areas: Wild Sky and Henry M Jackson.
The PCT passes by Pear Lake's eastern edge yet we met no PCT through hikers in the area and actually had the entire Pear Lake/Fortune Ponds vicinity to ourselves for the night. After being in this wilderness area for over 24 hours, we determined that it is directly under the flight path of commercial jets flying in and out of Seatac/Paine Field. There was almost continuous airplane noise which diminished slightly during the night.
