NSMB Deluxe should've been New Super Mario All Stars. A collection that has all 5 NSMB games. That would've been amazing and would for sure be the definitive NSMB experience
like 18 years ago; back in a time *BEFORE RUclips* there was the Screw Attack videos on some gaming website and they had the "Top Ten Games that Need to be made" and #2 (I think) was "Super Mario Bros 3 - 2" i.e. a sequel in the spirit of Super Mario Bros 3. And I'd say that New Super Mario Bros Wii was that and then some, in fact I think its a funnier game than either SMB3 and SMW.
DS has to be my favorite one in the whole series, theres something about it thats different than the later NSMB games in a way besides nostalgia. And i still play that version the most to this day Also, the minigames

My favorite New Super Mario Bros game is New Super Mario Bros Wii. First of all, it’s the very first video game I’ve ever played. Second, it’s the game that started my love for gaming. Third, it has the best and most memorable levels in the NSMB series in my opinion. Lastly, I grew up with that game and have big nostalgia for it.
Luigi U is really great, especially when you're going for star coins. It offers quite a bit of challenge which for a Mario game (I guess in this case Luigi lol) is really welcome and refreshing imo

Personally for me it’s new super mario bros wii because its one of the two i’ve played. It has the right difficulty, good level design (for the most part), cool powerups, and the multiplayer makes it magical with friends.
I personally enjoyed the DS and Wii Mario games, as those were the ones I played the most as a child. Looking back at every single ‘New’ Mario game that’s ever existed, the more recent releases were mediocre at best, and the lack of variety justifies their worth.
DS and Wii are the best, but for overall gameplay i'd have to hand it to Wii. Im not blinded by nostalgia, but for what they've done from DS to Wii U, Wii was the most innovative. Third is Luigi U for its new unique mechanic, but hindered by the same default textures and assets.
I just collected all the star coins on U Deluxe but now need the Luigi levels. It was fun, I turned off spin jump and even used a controller for most levels that didn't have motion controls because I would accidentally jump off Yoshi.
I didn’t say DS because nostalgia, I did it because it’s original, the ost slaps, and the castle bosses aren’t repeated. Sure mid-castles are, but it’s in a way that it feels like you’re playing a totally different boss.
No nostalgia bias here, the Wii U one is my favorite. The Koopaling fights, visuals, level design, and world map are all best in this game. The Wii one has a better ending though.

i genuinely like all the games, they each, as you mentioned, have their own thing that makes them different. Instead of just saying which one i like the most, ill just rate them from best to worst. 1: New Super Mario Bros. 2. I know this game is not really given enough attention and love, considering its like the blandest in the series, but i just really adore this game because i grew up with it, just like you grew up with the DS version. I really like the colour pallet and characters in the game, it all adds a great vibe to it, and especially the music. The Bowser fight in this game is also the second coolest in the series, with the coolest being the 2nd entry. I just always remember playing the game at my grandparents when i was 3-4 yrs of age, and i recently was able to play it agian, after the insane wait(considering ive wanted to play it for so long and havent had the chance) 2: New Super Mario Bros. This game i also grew up with, but i didnt share as much experience with it as i did the 3rd entry in the series. This game kinda gives me a Super Mario 64 DS vibe because of the general colour scheme, and the look of both games just have their similarities. The bowser fight in this game is extremely bland if were being honest here. I mean you literally just step on the switch, just like almost every other 2D mario game. 3: New Super Mario Bros Wii. This game wasnt really my favourite, i kinda just played the game during a bad part of my life, so everytime i go back to the game, i just get that nostalgic, yet not so good, feeling. The thing i really like about this game is most definitely the Bowser fight. I think everyone can agrre with me about this game having the coolest bowser fight, its very creative and has a lot of action to it. unlike most 2D Mario games. 4: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. Instead of talking abt the U version and the Luigi version, ill just put the two in one and rank it by starting with the better one. Starting with New Super Mario Bros. U, i dont have much experience in this game, i just wanted the game so one christmas a relative bought it for me, so i beat the game and kinda just havent touched it since. New Super Luigi U is last, mainly because, like the U. Version, i dont share much to any experience in this game. I think i may have played it a little bit, but then i kinda jsut forgot about its existence, its not like i dont like Luigi, and it kinda makes me feel bad i dont ever even play his games, but this game is hard, i mean really hard, especially the level where you run through the fire and have to time it perfectly, especially if you want every star coin. I have nostalgia and a softness towards new super mario bros played it as a kid loved the mini games and i liked the story mode and i also have a softness for the 3ds one to played that a ton as a kid
New Super Mario Bros 2 for sure. The level design is rock solid, the power ups are absolute fire, and it's so so SO satisfying to blast through the levels grabbing hundreds of coins. I easily sank dozens of hours on this game and I don't regret a thing!

DS and Wii are my favorites, though I grew up with Wii so between those two, I’d choose Wii.
I whould say new super Mario bros u deluxe is the best because it is the most polished and has the highest ammount of level, I whould like a dlc to this game that adds new super Mario bros ds, new super Mario bros 2 and new super Mario bros wii levels

Wii is definitely my favorite because it was one of the first mario games I got into and beat 100% and just going back to it I have the most fun with it

I have nostalgia and a softness towards new super mario bros played it as a kid loved the mini games and i liked the story mode and i also have a softness for the 3ds one to played that a ton as a kid
New Super Mario Bros 2 for sure. The level design is rock solid, the power ups are absolute fire, and it's so so SO satisfying to blast through the levels grabbing hundreds of coins. I easily sank dozens of hours on this game and I don't regret a thing!

I only really played NSMB Wii. I remember one summer a friend practically lived with us and we 100% the game. It took us the whole summer.

Nsmbw was my first game ever. People crap on nostalgia like it's what makes a game bad. It doesn't matter if you have nostalgia for a game or not, but if you do, that just makes the game that much more special.
