“Happy People” is a documentary series about people from faraway corners of Russia, who live in harmony with their beautiful but harsh natural surroundings.
It is about strong, free-spirited people. Maybe the lives of these people will serve as an example for some one, or will help some one look at himself through other eyes and re-examine his own life.

This should be compulsory viewing in every primary school on up throughout the world. Because it is the harshest climate of all to survive in these good folks command much respect. Of course these folks are not the only ones to live in harmony with nature and benefit from her fruits and all those folks throughout the world who live by the same ethos deserve respect and all should learn from them. It shows that we can never lose touch with nature as we most certainly will lose touch with our purpose in life and become aimless souls.

It is very humbling to see how these people endure the hardships that are a big part of living so far from more settled areas that are warmer and have more resources to make one's life a little easier. We in the modern Western World complain if our Television is disrupted, or the Internet goes out or the food we ate at the restaurant is not what we expected and our smart phone does not work right. These people seem just as happy and content or more so than we, there expectations are part of the hard life they live.

Fur buyers are shysters. They take advantage of need and buy low then sit on the pelts till late season and sell high . The pelts are prime at both times during season .

"You can never make a dog ride in the sled, it would rather pull one on its own." So it runs for a 100 miles - only the northern laika dog can make it." =O

As much as I want to say that's correct...it is incorrect. Alaskan and Canadian Huskies can run a hundred miles a day or more once trained. Dog mushers and their dogs race a 1000 mile race in the "Iditarod Sled Dog Race" in Alaska, USA every year!

@@Matt_OS which one.. Reddie? Foggie? I think Foggie is Anatoly's dog (the one that was focused running all that way)..i didn't pay close attention to the main 4 or 5 trappers names, but maybe you did. Those dogs were like superheroes.

There is an error in the translation. The Russian version said 100 km, which means it will be 62 miles.

Great movie! I envy these people, they are so strong and stoic. Minus 40 is unimaginable for me who used to live in +30 weather.

These are amazing films of extremely fantastic people who live in an area of greatness. I hope there are more films made of these people and their lives.
